Congrat's Volksy!

Making me grin today is being offered 'some old car shit that may interest you'. Expecting to see some shagged out old batteries or something imagine my surprise to be confronted by a (used) bodykit for a K10 Micra? :D

I might buy it just for the hell of it now.

Congrats Volksy!

I am actively encouraging everyone I meet to leave the country lately.

Thanks guys, quite looking forward to it, although it's been a bit of a panic to get stuff sorted! Nearly there..

Spotting some knuckle-headed pleb cruising about in a Galaxy with a massive sun-strip sticker that said DRIFTNUTTERZ on it.

FAIL.

Getting a bus ride from Old Basing to Odiham for free, when its normally £2.80. It pays to be polite to bus drivers!

Mine now says

Bulmers Red Apple.

It appears to suffer from extreme evaporation from my glass.

Need a wee now though....

Someone wants me to fix a sierra! This is grin-worthy on it's own, but at a time when I was worried about the lack of paying jobs situation, particularly so.

What's even better is that the car is in pretty good nick overall and everything it is likely to need is available in my yard due to me having a spares car. It's been garaged for about 6 years, the guy who has bought it wants to put it back on the road and look after it rather than being a banger runabout, and he was happy with my estimate for collecting on the truck, fixing, servicing, testing and returning to him.

It's a 2.0LX, 1989 G reg :)

is that a twin cam ?

There were basically 4 2.0 engines iffered in the Sierra in 1990. Pinto carb and injection, and Twink carb and injection. They were all offered together in the range, but not for long. Pinto carb being the lowest spec for the hire cars/giffer spec, and twink injections for the Ghias and 4x4s etc

Twink, but not sure yet if it's carb or injector.

My colleague drives an (admittedly very tidy) silver Y-reg Mk2 Mondeo Zetec. Having heard most of the interesting electrical doom stories related to these cars, I was somewhat disturbed that he chose to throw money at it for MOT claiming it was running well. New shocks, bushes, CVs, track rod ends, wheel bearings and a full service carried out, all looked well.

It's just died a catastrophic death, having revved itself from idle most of the way up the revs before cutting out and pissing coolant everywhere. He's been quoted a grand for a recon engine, though my Ford knowing mate reckons it's just the head.

In contrast to this, my mate who I managed to convince to move from the dark side of new cars on finance has just spent £400 recommisioning his L-reg Escort Cabrio after working abroad for six months because "it's actually quite a good car, I couldn't be without it now... "

Dunno why, it just makes me grin...

Oddly enough as someone who used to rent out Mondeos for taxi usage I have never suffered a mechanical failure with one. Even double shifting never caused any problems with the Zetec lump. It's THE engine of the 90s if you ask me.

Posted

Yeah, I never had problems with either of my Focuses (Focii?) either Warren. My Ford knowing mate (or Ian as I call him, what with "Ford knowing mate" being a lot of typing) said similar things happened to his '94 Orion some time ago, though his own Mk2 Mondeo died of electrical issues. Very bizarre, though not as bizarre as the fact the DVLA are returning his silver Mk2 Mondeo as a white 2001 2.4 diesel Transit... ?!

Maybe he fancies you...................

Lol, I wouldnt think so, considering he first let me on for free when I was going to get my (ex) gf. He also somehow went to Camberley and back from here in an hour, and when it takes 40 minutes each way, thats quite something.

But I digress! Good weekend.

I spotted this near John O' Groats, I think Hoors might be Dutch like the village's namesake.
