What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Don't get your hopes up on the BBC improving content :P

Harsh!

I'd rather watch McMafia, Peaky Blinders, Hinterland, Happy Valley, The Night Manager, Line of Duty etc, than any shit churned out by Hollywood in recent years.

That bastard ruined WRC.

That and it ending up as just C4s and Focuses.

It's hardly his fault if he kept beating everyone else...

Went to the WRC round in Catalunya last year, it was fantastic. The cars are back to looking quick again which has to be A Good Thing.

Is he ok?

Loebs car just got stuck in the sand and his navigator crocked himself getting it out so they withdrew.

Well yes I agree but it just makes it boring and predictable, a bit like when Mickey Shoemaker and Ferrari just kept winning F1.

Then the Dave channel bought the rights to show WRC for some stupid reason and the program went to shit. You didn’t get to see nearly as much stage action after that.

I won't disagree with you on it having been boring and predictable for many years-I stopped following it for about 10 years. I can't say I'm a big fan of Loeb either TBH.

I watched the Red Bull coverage of last season which isn't perfect but is watchable. 2017 saw a good close run championship (for a while at least)  with cars that looked and sounded more like a rally car should-80bhp more than 2016 I think from memory with more aero too. 380bhp in a Yaris/Fiesta is something to behold up close, believe me!

I'll be off to Catalunya in October again, it worked out cheaper than it would've been to go to Wales for Rally GB and was a damn site warmer!

Haven't done a 'blimey it's lovely here in Wales' post for a while, so here goes.

Earlier in the day, there was much glamour as a Nextbase engineer fitted a permanent ignition live for my dashcam.

We also discussed the DAB unit I'd tested (and panned) last year. Seems my cheap Chinese multi-plug 12v thing was causing a lot of my issues. They've addressed some of my other complaints with a firmware update! Which is nice. Got another aerial, so I'm going to test it over the weekend in the Lexus with a trip to The Midlands.

Then we had a Little Chef lunch. The building and menus were so run down it's hilarious, but the staff were pleasant and the bacon sarnie just what I needed right at that moment. It was bloody cold today.

Someone's made a mod for Next Car Game Wreckfest with an impressive car list and a couple of British derby tracks.

-W210 E class

-DS420

-mk1&2 Granada in various configurations

-mk2 Jag

-S1&2 XJ

-P5

-Volvo 240 saloon/estate

-Silver Shadow

-1959 Cadillac ambulance

-Ford LTD

-M-B 600

-LS400(!)

and more!

I was thinking of getting the game anyway but that makes it look even more fun.

started to clear out my mancave a bit. idea is to get all the bits in the right places, take a load of stuff to the tip and then have room to do stuff

Therapeutic but kind of a real mess, the garage is worse!

I'm watching The Cars That Made Britain Great on My5 right now, and they're doing a big piece in praise of the Ford Escort.  It couldn't be more at odds with my column in CCB this week!

Would that be the Little Chief in Builth Wells?

Indeed so. An obvious meeting point.

First week of the new job is done. So far so good, good group of people I've got with me in training too.

Now it's only 7 weeks of training before we actually work on trains though.

Stayed in a huge posh hotel in Builth Wells last year. A really lovely former mansion thingy with a stream going through the grounds. There is a black Labrador called Inca who lives there and is happy for dog loving guests to take walkies.

@Hooli, y'know there is a BBCode link, so you don't have to do a screen grab of that info. ;)

Didn't notice it tbh.

Oh & today's grin is spending the day at Cosford looking at old aircraft. They've got some amazing stuff there that you can't see anywhere else.

Me and Dora went for a trip to the vets I let her ride up front as she was a good cat.

Memphis likes to ride on my lap too.  Bit inconvenient when I'm solo but what can you do?
