Simple pleasures........brief boat trip with daughters and granddaughter at St Ives followed by a big fry up in a nice cafe.

The little one had never seen swans before and the expression on her face was wonderful

More like the 'delivered in discreet packaging' type. She also surprised me by pulling out a bottle of single malt that she'd got on offer. Thrifty! I'm in love.

Pulled out from where??

This was going to be a grump. Son's PS4 stopped reading disks. Went through lots of troubleshooting guides which mostly said delete/reinstall/update/rebuild database etc, so did that, lots. Eventually came to the conclusion that it isn't a software issue but a dying optical drive. Butget for new PS4, agree to go halves on the cost and repair the old one later and sell it on. PITA. This morning I dug out the box it came in, and found the receipt inside, we've had it for 11 months..... returned to shop this afternoon and exchanged it for a new one. Bonus.

I was on ebay looking for an EGR valve for this A2. I was a bit pissed off to find that code popping up and I probably needed one until I saw the face on the poor we fella.

I guess you'd look like you're be in pain if you had red hot exhaust gasses shooting up your arse.

Remember that Clio towing a camper van? Well this takes it to the next level (as seen on teuchter wagons on facebook)

Christ.

That school run SUV will be rated to tow maybe 2 tons. The tri-axle will weigh 1.3 tons or so empty and have a gross weight of 3.5 tons but if its an Ifor will be physically capable of carrying double that, which is just as well because if that tractor weighs less than 5 tons I would be surprised.

And if he thinks those two ratchet straps are doing anything, he is mistaken.

Fucking wanker - fuds like that get away with this sort of thing through sheer ignorance/arrogance and blind fucking luck yet if I dare to be 100kgs over weight I would get the book thrown at me.

Picked one of these up at maplin today for £25, 22w desk light with magnifier.

nice bright LEDs and the mag works a good focus range at about x2 sizing.

Perfect for detail work and I have a bunch of old models to paint up.

These are cracking, I don't know how I lived without one - You don't realise how much you miss until you actually sit down and look at something under a proper desk lamp. The magnifier is rubbish though - It makes stuff bigger but it's blurry and crap so there's no actual gain.

We have them at work (PCB repair stuff) and they last about 2 years of daily use before the base snaps. It's a flourescent tube inside, but they give me migraines so I replaced it with a 3W led.

I'm quite good at econo-driving, although I have to admit 53mpg from a 2.5 mile trip is pretty damn impressive. Mason runs so rich upon start up that I wouldn't be surprised if I'm getting around 2.5mpg!

Around three years ago I paid £2,000 + a Rover 45 diesel for a '55 plate Mondeo Ghia, owned by a Travis Perkins manager. It had done around 140k in just under seven years, but had been meticulously maintained.

On a run from around Junction 15 to Newark, I got this...

62mpg.jpg

The return leg was done at more progressive speeds on a lovely smooth A46, so it had dropped when I got home, but only slightly...

58_8mpg.jpg

Unfortunately I was only using it to do around 18 miles a day, and so after a year and a half I got the dreaded EML light and limp-home mode. Clogged up valve, or somesuch. Sold it for £700.

You can get a 12 month tax-tested one for around that now....

I reset it and drove from Ripley hough Crich where I took photo. Dropped rapidly In stop start traffic though. Not bad for a 1.8 petrol. Usually around 38/40 mpg on trip computer

I was nice to some random giffer. Drove to morrisons, and a giffer is trying to jump start a discovery 2. With a pug 206. Hmmm, wonder why that appears to be not working?

Excuse me, would you like to try jumping it off my disco instead? Could try I suppose, but it's not even trying to turn. Swaps cars, turns key and of course it starts straight away.

He was happy. Suspect he won't be when he finds out how much a new battery is.

I fitted the rear calipers that Ruffgeezer sold me and got shiteleyd to shitefest today!

In the nick of time too, the rear pass one, that was always the more fucked was seized solid, my mate said it took 5 hits with the big hammer to get the sliders to move. The pedal feels a bit different niw but she stops fine still.

Although only the front pass wheel locks up under a big stop, not the front drivers side as well. Where would I look to sort that out? One of the rear pipe unions rounded off too but nipped up with some grips, will leave that alone forever now!

I'm not familiar with that type of screen but trip consumption zero, trip distance 2.5 miles, did you get it going and then coast down a long hill with the engine off?

Stuck to my guns last night and steadfastly refused to ever* go back to the pub that had put their doubles up by 25%.

It's probably just me but I've rather been enjoying the BBC's World's Weirdest Events, presented by Chris Packham. Some of it I've seen before but most of it is pretty wow. The intro and links are quite interesting, some weird place in the desert full of old rusting Yank motors and other junk (did I see a wrecked plane at one point?) and I've been meaning to see if I can find out where it is. Well, t'other day I was looking to see when the next episode was available (I'm watching through iplayer here so the schedules are pretty meaningless) and found there's actually a panoramic walkaround of it where CP tells you about the place, as well as load of other stuff.

Last weekend my stepson got married.  Cause enough for a grin, you'd think, especially as Suzie is a lovely girl.  We met them for afternoon tea the other day.  She greeted me with a hug and a "Hello Dad."  Well I just floated away like a helium balloon.  That meant so much.

Got stuck waiting an hour for a train home. Fortunately had my kinky girl to keep me entertained.

No,I filled it up and reset computer then drove it for 2.5 miles. Steady speed, not much traffic, only a small uphill section, 1 roundabout and 1 set of lights shown the average there. The instantaneous mpg is so low as it's sat at tickover. In general use the car does around late 30s. I put the pic up as a sort of look what's possible on a long motorway cruise or that ilk sort of scenario.
