I am in Prague at the moment on work - but I have to go home tomorrow. :(

Earlier in the city centre I saw someone fall off one of those Segway things

Clearly a ponce for using one and therefore I didn't feel so bad about laughing!

Also, Interstella 5555. It's the anime film that was produced off the back of Daft Punk's Discovery. Each track on the album corresponds to an event in the plot. So it's more or less an hour long music video, and it's WELL GOOD. According to the French, all our talented musicians are aliens in disguise reconfigured in humanoid form by an evil overlord who got his inspiration from a meteor that crashed on earth in the 1500s and killed his family. Or something.

I like the anime, me. I have lots of Mizayaki and quite a few fansubbed series (inevitably this includes Initial D - I have the Extra Stages and everything).

Sitting in Dutch_Grrl's garden yesterday evening sipping a coffee, a Spitfire did a VERY low flyover almost dircetly above me.... sounded absolutely wonderful! I'm not a 'plane enthusiast my any stretch but there is something very stirring about a 70 year old piece of engineering like that still ticking over perfectly... and they really are fabulous looking things.

On my way home this afternoon, I saw a mint bright orange MK1 Escort Mexico (or lookylikey). Not quite as impressive, but still nice to see one actually being driven and not parked up in a heated garage somewhere.

Went to Newbury classic car show today, not a big event but the selection was brilliant, seven Allegros were present! And I got in for free as the people usually at the gate werent there....

And on the subject of planes, I saw a B52 overhead earlier. Im not actually sure if it was really one, but it had six engines so I presume it must be?

No 1 son passing his driving test last Wed. Spent most of yesterday driving round looking at various immaculate (read shit) cars that he can get insured in. Got home for a much needed cuppa and phone rings, it is a trader mate of mine who says he's just taken a 1 family owned 1.4 Polo in with 65k on the clock. Whizz over to his garage, car is very tidy with just the odd mark here and there. 4 x new tyres, new exhaust and tax till next June! £700 later and son is off and mobile at last. Got fully comp insurance for £1167 as well.

Spent today giving it a service and fitting CD/Ipod unit and haven't seen him since!

Nice one Peter, bet he's out driving round right now with a massive grin on his face!

Or upside-down in a ditch.

Oh no, that was just me...

Neighbour and I arsed about with my Chinese scooter again today and got the bastard running properly.

Happy days, it even pulls over 30mph with my fat self on it.

Some Freecycle scored VW G*lf roofbars were offered up to the Passat and they fitted, so there's a few quid saved.

ANOTHER AUTOSHITE TOP TIP :D

Here's another: 'Pack' Ford Capri Mk2 bars fit on VW Polo Breadvans. Flapeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

The 2CV's running again after a change of ignition module thingy. Looks like the last one got proper hot due to a combination of the heat sink coming loose, driving through Geneva town centre in 32 degree heat and then climbing several mountains in similar conditions. The module thingy is a points-assisted set up built by a mate of mine so we had a pleasant afternoon's tinkering together. We also faffed about with my new CX so it now has a switch operated cooling fan, but it's now running pretty badly so we'll call that an even draw.

I got "This is Spinal Tap" on DVD the other day, not seen it in ages so I watched it twice. Then I got the mandolin out and did this.

My first drive in my Astra Mk3 since I fitted a leather interior into it. The heated front seat made my bad back feel most loved!

Arrived at Santa Pod on Thursday, just after lunch. I've just got back. Awesome - massive variety of drag racing, plus great people and great weather. I've taken 400 photos!

Top Gear.

That was an awesome show that just finished.

+1

Agreed. I feel an Autoshite band coming on... The Austin Rovers perhaps? Or maybe Arthur's Nice Little Midnight Runners? I'll get me bass out...

I wonder could I convince Mrs Ash to dye her hair blonde and adopt the Stevie Nicks look. Of course, you'd be minus a guitar player, as she'd break my legs. And entire body.

Driving the BX along yesterday through Send and seeing that I was being followed by a nice H plate Bluey, in a non-descript colour, driven by a middle-aged couple. I wondered if it was anyone off here! I lost him eventually as he was driving very sedately (I was doing 30!).

^^ I saw that in ASDA the other day and laughed at it. Is that Hotwire driving the van? - edit.. I meant navigating. Probably. A bit. Fly free, little hatstand...

Anyway! I had a really good day today, we had a run out in the newly taxed and tested LT recovery truck (which has recently had me in a very bad mood due to being knackered...) and it didn't break! :D In fact, it goes really well and drives nicely (for a 20 year old VW van...) the stereo still works and there was a mix disk from about 2 years ago still in it so I heard some stuff I haven't listened to recently as well. Couldn't be bothered to go car shuffling at the yard when I got back so it's outside the house (Plus point, it's longer than the house is wide so it's outside next door as well. That'll piss the old bugger off)

Autoshite band? mmm, interesting idea. I keep meaning to find people to play with but never get round to it (or the people I find can't actually play). I did have a silly idea a minute ago, which is a web-based band... You can send live audio over the net, conference calling and all that. Why not have a jam over the 'net?

Well look no further for your Security needs for the band.................

Very little at the moment. I feel like going to Darlington and smacking a senior SFE official in the back of the head repeatedly with my keys.

Ronin.

Just noticed that its on channel five and caught the car chase in Paris. The one where Robert DeNiro in a 406 is chasing the irish bint in 5-series.

I'm convinced that this film and the Taxi series must have accounted for many 406 sales.

That 5 is a poverty spec, cloth trim M5 in some shots... The one that blows up isn't though...

So much for the relocation attempt to UK - just about to sign on the line for 12 months of Cambodia followed by 12 months of Laos.

As there is not a great deal of work in UK at the moment, I suppose it makes sense.

Landmine risk fees apply, so mega grin.

This'll be over on the grumpy thread when I break the news to Mrs CT though.
