dealer wouldn't let me take it until he'd seen confirmation it was taxed.

What's it got to do with him whether the car is legal or not?  If you chose to drive a vehicle on the road untaxed, it's your affair and 2/10ths of bugger all business of anyone else.

He can suggest it might be a wise plan, but to insist?  Get Bent.

I'm off work today and woke up to see loads of emails on my phone about the phone system at work going down. Isn't it a shame that I've got a work around setup to solve exactly that and it'd take five mins to do. However as they treat me so well* I'm not bothering contacting them to let them know...

Great thing is I know I emailed the details out to everyone in case it happens when I'm off, but obviously no-one has recalled that. So on tues I can just say, well why didn't you follow this simple guide I emailed out yonks ago after last time this happened?

*three years now of trying to get regraded so I get paid for the work I do....hence off today for a job interview.

I do this all the time, it's a wonderful feeling to pluck out a guide I wrote 6 years ago and watch their faces drop!

1.     Chortling....... anyone who knows those in the loop haven't bothered reading the email will understand entirely.

2.     Best of luck with the interview - and if you get it - let them find the email them-fucking-selves!

That sounds familiar.

Last time I was off for a few days, I arrived back to great consternation about a malfunctioning photocopier that had caused them enormous problems... all I could do was point wordlessly at the notice fixed to the wall directly above the copier, advising how to fix this exact problem... dated and signed by me in October 2015.

I just leave them to it now.

Our PM stated she would be creating a "lonliness minister" is response to the worsening crisis of mental health and the NHS.

It has her name all over it.

It doesn't matter who is in charge, the utterly retarded & incompetent management within the NHS means it'll always swallow all the funds you give it with no improvement in the service provided.

And back to grins.

Interview seemed to go well, I should find out today or tomorrow.

More importantly at the moment it means I'm now shortly going to start packing for a weekend with my new lass, I'll be on Bute in the morning :)

Just seen that RyanAir are now doing hotel rooms. Can you imagine it? Vending machine replaces the tea and coffee making facilities, €10 if you want an extra pillow or towel, no TV as you're only in there for the night so don't need one and just as you fall asleep some Irish twat will come over the tannoy to try and sell you a scratchcard.

Because motoring offences have an "Aiding and Abetting" and a "Causing or Permitting" variation where the offence code has 2 or 4 added to it. For example IN10 is driving without insurance, IN14 is Permitting someone to drive without insurance.

I guess they're covering their arse, if your insurance is invalid if you're not taxed.

Bagged some Eminem tickets, despite Ticket Master trying its hardest to stop me. :-)

I spotted a car stereo that I fancied on gumtree, so made arrangements with the seller to go round yesterday evening. when I arrived, the chap was sitting in the car looking a bit embarrassed - his son had gone out and not bothered his arse removing it from the car.

of course we had no tools for the job but thankfully the son was a kack handed bodger and hadn't fitted it very well, using only my ignition key, the stereo was coaxed from the dash and the predictable mess of wiring disconnected.

all sorted now, turns out to be a pretty good piece of kit :)

I see your point, but if the buyer of the car says "yes, I've taxed it" then that should be sufficient. It's not up to the vendor to go checking up. They have reasonably asked if it has been done, and the buyer has said yes. If that was a lie, then that's nothing to do with the vendor!. Also, driving without Tax is not an endorsable offence. It's a civil matter only.

.. and no motor insurance policy is dependent on tax. Tax is a completely seperate issue.

Amys over at her aunts, who are back from their bi-monthly trip to their house in France. She's just excitedly called me saying uncle John has bought an old car to potter about and drive to and from France in, as their 2 year old Nissan puke is not far from the 3 year mileage limit.

Oooh, very good, what is it? (exotic images running through my head)

2004 Xara...

Very nice love. Hope it's not the 1. 4 for those trips?

He doesn't know...

Ah. Tell him to talk to me whwn it needs pads etc, don't want him to get ripped off (he always has stacks of beer...)

That was exactly my first thought! Even though I know Bute is a place too.

My excuse is that I grew up with my parents owning horses (they still have 4 of them) and Bute was always mentioned alongside abscesses in hooves and bandaging them up etc. etc.

According to google maps, there's a Bute Way in Aberdeen, too! It's in the sort of area where you'd get stabbed for looking at somebody funny though, so I'm not going to go find it in person any time soon.

Made me laugh somewhat. The most inaproprate application of a bumper step I have ever seen.

I wonder if it makes the car a bit light at the front now?

I'm a month smoke free as of yesterday and i'm starting to think i've actually got this.  £300 up too.

Bugger me! 300 sheets a month to smoke?

I've never smoked, so no idea how much it costs...

Got to be honest, it was one of the things that prompted me to quit...someone asked me how much it cost nowadays, and I was actually embarrassed to have to admit - £10 for 20!

Well its actually between £9 and £11 depending whether its a supermarket or motorway service station...but around £10 is the average

Bonkers.

Nice work! Quitting gets easier and easier as time goes by. I missed it when driving for a while, but you soon forget you ever did it.

We had my grandmother's funeral this week, which is not usually a cause for grinning but bear with me...

A distant cousin who I've not met since she was a baby was there, and it turns out she's now studying just down the road from here. Lovely kid, and we've swapped numbers with a promise to meet up again.

I was always very much the baby of the family and I'm really thrilled to have a younger relative nearby that I can spoil sometimes.
