After a final, manic, week long thrash in the snow, driving the Herald to the Ace last night with its new heart made me grin rather a lot :D

I've not been putting it all on-line as, all being well, it will be appearing in a magazine once I finish writing it up, (monies from which will help pay for it!) I dare say there'll be other details I can fill in once that happens and I'll update the thread on R-ROh, its a bit quick now! :D

Nice one Seth! Battling the SNOW CHAOS to build TEH KWIK HERALDZ!What's making me grin is the fact that I'm on holiday time now, ready to head north in the BX tomorrow.

A bit of a grin inducer was watching Parcelforce van apply the brakes from speed on our snowy village lane and come to a halt 20 yards further on than he meant on the other side of the road, then trying to look casual.

It makes me grin to see how ultra-unprepared some countries and most people in those countries I wont mention here are when it comes to a bit of snow in, surprise surprise!, winter!

In what's been a very sad day it was sort of mildy amusing rolling up fashionably late to a funeral in a lowered car with a boy racer exhaust. With echoes of 'trust you to do that' and a few smiles we headed into the church.

Internet shopping for DVDs - I can buy all kinds of dreadful films from the relative comfort of my home.Things are so much easier nowadays, to get my fill of cheesy action films as a kid I had to patiently check the TV schedules on the basis that there might be something half-decent on eventually, or (more often) take my chances buying ex-rental VHS cassettes on the market. No opportunity to check out the trailer on Youtube or anything, just a box with a load of explosions and a description along the lines of "Kurt B. Stack is a rogue cop who doesn't play by the rules. When a criminal mastermind blows up his family, it's the last straw. He's hoping to make a KILLING..... before the DEAD-line!". Even if it sounded alright, the tape could be duff from being overplayed, bloke on the stall could be a twonk who won't sell it to you because it's an 18-rating, etc.Now I can just sit here and handpick all kinds of old rubbish and have it drop through the letterbox. Also, Asda have a £2-3 DVD selection which throws up all kinds of surprises. It's great!

Planes make me smile. I am as into planes as I am into cars.

Mrs Parky is currently en route to Dallas and I am tracking the planes movements on this site - http://www.flightstats.com which is quite interesting.

Had a heart in mouth moment at 6.55pm when the reported altitude of the plane went from 38000 ft to zero feet and airspeed fell from 465kts to zero kts. Thirty seconds later it went back to normal so obviously the transponder in the aircraft has a loose connection.

Aeroshite?

Despite being "a metaller" (copyright my niece 2009) I love Lily Allen.

There, I've said it. not just in a pervy way either.

+1There is something very endearing about her, seeing interviews with her, she comes across as genuine and funny.

Not sure I'd want to go back to her house to meet her Dad though! Keith's a bit of a looney but stunningly funny in "A Fistful of Travellers Cheques"You want soft toilet paper? This is Hotel Bastardos! For soft paper you want Hotel Gayboy!

On the subject of aeroshite, I would love one of these:

Mine would have patches of primer all over it though, and an odd coloured wing, and mismatched seats inside. And the air tank for the starter would leak so I'd have to pump it up with a 12v mini compressor before I could go anywhere. 8)

Jeez, thats some Aeroshite right there. I'd only get on that if I was Harrison Ford and I was escaping from Lao Che's henchmen!

Love old planes - had a great couple of domestic flights in Indonesia in 2007 - 727 on the way out and a DC-9 on the way back - both planes older than me. I need to wangle some work in Iran so I can ride the 707's they still fly. But for my own plane, it'll be similar to the way I like my cars - big spacious and useful.

Yup correct id, but unfortunately the Chinese airlines have brand spanking new Boeings and Airbuses now. I think there is a token Tup 214 but I've not seen it around yet.The last XinJiang airlines IL96 has been chopped up now and all the old Yun-7 turbo-props are now decommissioned after the Shanghai crash in 2007. The oldest plane you'll get in now will be a 737-300 for a MD80 from the mid-80's. The Govt still cruise about in Tup 134's and 154's, but even they are rarely used. When I first went to China, I was frequently in TU154's and Antonovs. Most crashed and the authorities eventually decided to replace entire fleets - Sichuan airlines had the remaining 8 of the 12 TU-154's replaced with A320's overnight after 4 Tups crashed in as many weeks.Iran and mid-Africa seem to collect, hoard and operate the aeroshite.
