What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

that sounds fantastic value to have a laugh

That's what I thought, the website says £285 but the bloke running it said £250, I may get a couple of mates together and go back. £80 for a full hours driving is pretty good by 'driving experience' days. Don't get me wrong, the cars aren't trailer queen concourse minters but it's just a laugh to rag one round some Tarmac legally and you do learn a lot even after nearly thirty years of stupidity in real wheel drive cars.

It's been a year of exposing Kinky Girl to my interests and she's not run away screaming yet.

So far she's been to:

Shipley Glen tramway

Scarborough north bay railway

Beamish

Ironbridge

Severn Valley railway

Anson engine museum

Elsecar heritage

Kirklees light railway

Blists hill victorian town

Keighley & worth valley railway

She's a keeper :)

What, no Bovington Tank Museum?

News grin, a little morbid but fuck it.

Ice Road Truckers star killed in crash........ plane landing ends in 'fiery' disaster.......... 'something went drastically wrong'.

Yep, I imagine that would be a candidate for the blindingly obvious award of forever.

The massive chunk of windscreen that got taken out of the meriva last year at some point finally cracked on saturday

Gavin from autoglass is popping round in a bit to replace it!

I did a mock claim for the xantia whilst I was on the Web booking bit and it said 'phone us for a quote' rather than spit out either our £75 excess or the 'non insurance' price I got for the meriva (£396 iirc) Hope I don't get a big stonw flick up, shame really as the windscreen is very very scratched on it, and could do with accidentally getting cracked next year...

Small things etc. Just seen an advert for a George Formby Grill. Those of you who get the reference can start with the puns and song titles in 3, 2, 1.....

He was due to start filming a documentary on crashed aircraft apparantly.

Had my first post-cambelt-change drive of the Rover and it's surprisingly smooth and effortless to drive now.  It's lovely and feels well worth the effort.  Tomorrow my new plug leads and alternator belt arrive which should improve things even further.

Penultimate day off, so me, Mrs B and the hire car went to the beautiful Bodnant garden (for her) then drove 150ish miles round the 'Evo triangle' from Betws-y-Coed, through Snowdonia, past Dolgellau and Bala and back home (for me). Superb!!

Love living in this part of the world!

That's Gerry Lloyd's handiwork. I met him earlier this year for a feature in MG Enthusiast. Here are some more shots.

BMW 4-Series roof, merged onto an MG ZT.

Interior is a mixture of 75 and BMW. Note door shuts, which work around hinge points for the rear doors (still there, but now part of the structure).

He also made this. Note the 75 Tourer opening rear window and the fact that all the brightwork is in oak.

He also made this, which I had a drive of. Very, very strange and the wipers work at both ends!

^^ He is one of those mad genius types isn't he.

Wow, just wow. I love the Coupe.

He certainly is. I know what his next project is as well. I can't say anything, but it'll make the above seem quite sensible.

Yeah, everyone tells him that apparently, but he's not keen. He certainly has the skills to do it if he so wished, but he just doesn't like convertibles.

Shame :(

Then he should go 4x4 off roader lol.

There was a prototype found in Longbridge. A 75 estate, jacked up with AWD and plastic cladding, Audi Allroad style.

Just ordered 2 new side repeaters for the 75 for £9. Bargain, the originals have been tatty since i got it but not willing to pay rimmer prices for them.
