M'coli
Stick with this one, the title says 1976, and the vehicles start at about 0:42 in. Quite why the Corran Ferry and the Inn at Ardgour happen BEFORE the shots of Buachaile Etive Mor I don't know, but it was filmed on the old road across the Black Mount and the entrance to Glen Coe, so it's interesting for that. Also features some ice climbing by one of the Creag Dhu's greatest, the late John Cunningham.

warren t claim
Does anyone else remember this classic tyre commercial? I believe it was faked though. Laseraligningfoofooflanges
Richard
I remember seeing a "making of" about this. According to that it was less faked than you might think. They were given permission to shoot it while the street below was open on the grounds that they wouldn't be doing it if they thought they were going to fall off.IIRC they used chains for the bits where he stops right at the edge. j-j
That is legendary! "Lancia's new corrosion warranty starts on APRIL THE 1st"!!I also love the way even the spokesman for Lancia has no savvy PR skills! doesn't even try to wrangle it like they do nowadays. Love the way news 'sounded' back then..

hennabm
NURBURGRING - UR DOIN IT WRONG 1.37 in - err hello? Seatbelts? Among other 'highlights'.(Actually, just thought, would Beetles even have seatbelts in 1970?)That video is just fuggin ace. How no one was killed or seriously injured, you just wonder. But then you need to remember that the speeds were a lot lower and the cars had more tin in them. That one that was half ejected then hit their head on the door frame with the whiplash would have a sore head I suspect BMWs - they would be fairly new in 1970 as would a good many others. Try explaining that one to the wife after a day out with your "mates". :Doh poo - I see I'm still jap scrap. When do I get to be a proper AS car

Guest
Scrapage Banger Racingpt1 pt2 That wasn't what I expected at all. I was thinking it would be some clumsily shot iPhone footage of a mint Mk4 Escort being smashed to bits round an industrial estate. That they decided to wreck one of the Scrappage Scheme's poster children makes it all the more poignant

Guest
Didn't last long, did itNo, but it wasn't going to. Anything filmed \ unusual \ would be torn to shreds by the regulars. Still a good video though.

Guest
I just meant the fact that it took one hit and it couldn't go on at all.I've never been to a banger race but I suspect most cars are chosen and prepared to take quite a few hits.I think the angle it got mullered into the post had quite a bit to do with it. I don't know much old FWD tin that would have taken a battering like that and continued to run. Mind you, the way the clutch cable was exposed was a bit of a death wish.
