I remember it from the time, it was a very brave effort when the bike record was probably less than 120 mph and the roads will have been less polished into a race track than they are 30 years later.

Watching the Isle of Man TT track in POV format chuffing mental. I really should drive it some time to get a feel for what it's actually like.

Mark Higgins went for a new record in 2011. Fully sideways at 150mph within the first mile.... My ring-piece would have lameped onto the seat so hard that they would have had to winch it back out.

What a save.

Lunatic gets right back on it too!

Matt:

"..I really should drive it some time to get a feel for what it's actually like.."

I have never driven anything that fast (air travel is probably the only time my ass exceeded that Rover!)

Its not 'Hollywood speeded up' and my teeth grate at the Gs!!

*if a 'noddy dog' Gmeter had been screwed to the dash top - Imagine that ;)

Impressive and always safe....

A thought, when we see knobs killing with cars :(

Watch it to the end, keep in mind they have a flat tyre after the "incident"

How was that even possible?  :-D  Sheer determination kept that on the road. I'll remember this vid the next time I'm limping the motor home at 5 mph less than a mile away from the house.

Interesting video of Sir George Turnbull's input into Hyundai's foray into car manufacture. I can't make up which bit I find most surprising - the pig's head, or the way they open crates containing millions of pounds worth of new equipment!

The Ultimate Test Drive.

A Rover 827 doing a full lap of the Isle of Man TT circuit !!!

Fast in its day but it does sound like a few bits drop off before the end !

Look at all the parts still in their boxes on the shelves. What motors are they in and on the ramps?

I was there at Balacraine :)

Couldn't see myself in the vid, couldn't many people, maybe this video is an early morning practice run?

Something wierd with that Wolseley FDM 546K looks like its been logged as scrap as teh tax is due 19th September 1993?

No record of the marina WDM221N

But the Farina is wierd too ADM 58B - not taxed for road use - not seen that before.

Might be some high end stereo stuff as i spotted the Nachimichi? flyer in the Radiomobile stand.

About 2 minutes worth of video stretched out to 10 minutes. Still fascinating though. The garage owner (?) likes his BMC and BL tat so probably little chance of finding any Renault 30 brake parts

I got about 2 mins in before I had to turn the annoying music off. Just needed the actual real time footage that is the last couple of minutes.

Is that Marina a TC/GT? The wheels and black strip between the rear lights?

TC in Harvest For The World Gold.

The 1300 is a Wolseley Mark II, Oxford VI 1622 bad boy.

Just as I thought 'WTF does d-e-s-o-l-c mean' he reveals the secrets of the enigma.

Usually means its been off the road since before the SORN requirement so it satisfies the Off Road legislation.

Its an auto, too.   Blimey, they are sluggish things...

Extremely shite-rich music video.

Blossoms are a Stockport band and they filmed the whole thing around there too.

Contains shite, but it's more based on a comment in ebay tat thread..

This starts off as a fairly innocuous hill climb video, but gets better and better as it goes on IMO:

Found this whole looking for old footage of my home town.  They've spelled Barnstaple wrong and I am not sure the date is right, it might be a couple of years newer but it's an interesting look at some old street furniture.  I'm no bus spotter but the older buses make a much better noise than the current ones!  The bus station would have been brand new at the time, but otherwise it's surprising how little has changed in 20 years.

Bonus mk3 Cavalier and 405 taxi action.

Around this time and in the next couple of years I used these buses a lot.  All the red and yellow ones were operated by Red Bus, a local company who got bought out around this time by First.  Most of the bigger buses were ancient, dilapidated, unreliable and some leaked copiously in the rain.  They were constantly late and the service was pretty hopeless but it was all we had, things did improve when First started running things and bringing in new buses and it is now a Stagecoach service which is pretty decent, I used to hate relying on the buses as a teenager to get to work as they were so undependable but this does bring some happy memories of the giddy freedom of first being able to go places on the bus with just your mates and no parents in tow.
