Domestic Management is recovering from The Lurgy.  She is currently watching an early Tom Hanks film, set in Jerusalem in 1942.

They do this all the time.  Props departments simply do not do their research!  Made In Dagenham, for instance, about the upholstery department's fight for equal pay at Ford in the 60s.  You'll see cars going down the production line.... Escorts, mk2 Cortinas, mk1 Cortinas....yeah ok!

Series 1 Landrovers(1948 onwards) put in an appearance at the end of Ice cold in Alex despite it being set in 1941; presumably whatever bits of the British Army that were loitering in Libya were so equipped in 1958 and the film luvvies didn't care that the 'jeeps' weren't Jeeps.

Intriguingly the long shot includes a little bogie/cart - dangling in the air from a nest of cables...

Not quite a movie, but I've been watching The Crown on Netflix. The then Princess Elizabeth and Philip are on safari in 1952, and there are series 2 and 2a Land Rovers being used.

 

I'm sure someone more well versed in 50s coachbuilt cars could spot many more errors.

The tyre tracks of the camera tacking vehicle are there but the car in shot is a myth.

Watched 'The Accountant', a Ben Affleck thriller a couple of weeks ago. At 1 point there is a flashback to his character growing up in France. Nice US spec 505 front and centre...
