And Plastic Bertrand

Turns out he didn't actually sing "his" biggest hit.....it was some fella called Lou The Prick.

As an aside plass means piss in Dutch. They find it amusing. So, van den plas means from ,or of, the piss. Hehe.

Looking at the wheels and stance, and the fact that it's at a VW swapmeet, it's pretty certain to be air-cooled & rear engined.

I have no comment to make.

Someone did that with a normal Allegro too, it looked surprisingly good. Absurd though.

Personally would have liked to seen either of those at stock height with stock hubcaps on steels of some sort.  Much more of a headfuck that way and in the case of the saloon one that was done, probably more practical since you could still put the rear seat in properly.

Being as you've sold the hearse and broken the Pug you'd best get this up and ready for daily duties

You forgot to mention the broken Shogun... No time to fix anything at the moment.

No the obvious thing to do is buy another car!

Well that is a nice looking door. How much, squire? (Its the least of the Allegro's worries really!)

How does £40 sound? Genuine BL panel etc. It's the other side rear door which is the rare one, so I was told.

Why are offside rear doors particularly rare? Is there a peculiarity of the metal work which makes them rot more?

Maybe he was told that by someone who has a stash of offside rear doors....?

I have no idea, but I had it on good authority. Put it down to BL intransigence, it wasn't uncommon for someone to get the figures wrong.

Not so, as I bought all my doors off the chap who told me.

Having owned Allegros for 20 years I can vouch for the fact that the offside rear door is the hardest to find, yet also don't have a good reason as to why.  Apparently true of Maxis/Landcrabs too.

Reality finally wins over enthusiasm. By the time I have found time to sort it I think the timworms will have munched it.

Anybody want it?

It owes me £150

Yep.

Engine and box are removed but come with it

I am currently without a towcar so if anybody wants it then they will have to either collect it themselves or pay for the van hire cost as well as fuel

Haha that's from you! ;)

Would be for the father-in-law. He absolutely loves these. I can easily help with the mechanicals but as per usual big welding is an issue.

It's a no unfortunately. Also not one for me. Looks like a good little project but I much prefer the standard Allegro and I don't really have much attachment to these.

(Compared to say a certain Austin)
