Is it the same on both sides?

That was a Volvo 340 in about 1989. I sold a new 340 and a week latter the customer returned and asked me to check for a fault on both sides of the car, I couldn't see anything wrong so he pointed out the rubbing strip was wide one side and narrow the other!

I've been looking at low mileage Rover 75s of late, but pre-project deprive with low miles and preferably top spec. Yesterday a random call from a trader we deal with at work asking me to CAP a car that was a trade-in elsewhere he was looking at buying. Turns out it's a 2 owner 2001 Rover 75 Connoisseur SE 2.5V6 Auto in green with green leather, just 39k miles, cambelt change and long MOT. Apparently it's spot on to. It books at £230 CAP Average (criminal!) but apparently owes the dealer £500. I've told him if he gets it and the price is right I'll have it. If I can pick it up from him for say Â£700 we're all happy I'm sure. I'll wait and see what happens.

Halford's own brand?

I do need something to help me clean the marks on beige leather from the Mot tester.

I bought some leather wipes a few years back (can't remember what brand) but they were too harsh for the leather so got used on the windscreen.

I like Autoglym leather cleaner. It lasts ages, i have had my bottle for over a year and hardly used anything from it.

Good guess, but no, it was Dermist (who people might remember as the owner of the gorgeous R-reg red-brown Beta saloon at Shitefest 2014). It's no big secret, just that it's his story really rather then mine: I'm sure he'll post something when he gets around to it.

I've been wondering who brought that Beta for a year and a half. That information almost excuses you for relinquishing the dreamy Dedra.

You know its a good day when the driveway looks like this!

Audi had smoke coming from the engine bay, turns out it was an oil leak it has developed over the winter, so I let it burn off.

Seat has been using coolant and I'm buggered if I can work out where its going

And the Volvo only needed screen wash topping up [because it only came back from the garage today after a 7 day holiday!]

I've forgotten where it was posted bt I was talking about the wonderful leather wipes I bought at Halfords. A question was asked: 'Halfords own brand?' The answer is (after expressly going out in the rain and looking - what a lovely chap I am :)   ) No, they are 'Armour All' and fooking wonderful!

Fitted a battery disconnect to the starlet so that I can keep the battery full when parked up.

It was only a fiver and piece of wee to fit.

Insured it and taxed it ready for the weekend.

Think I might get mine back on the road this month and flog the Rover as I get paid on Friday and miss it with all this HOT VISA ACTION going on here. I hope I have got the right wheel bearing.

Some of you may remember that last year I bought a Smart Roadster, which died in December, with total electrical failure, I am pleased to report that it is nearly alive again. I had a text from the garage at the weekend to say that the parts were finally available (i think the auto-electricians had been trying their luck with used parts) and that they would try it over the weekend. It is working again but due to the attack of the clones the paddle shift is not working so it needs to be re-cloned? I should have it back after that, but, not sure now if I will trust it again.

popped round the corner to see a mate at the garage and he showed me this Rover 75, bloke brought it in having trouble selecting gears, they found the gear selctor cable is knackered.

The cost of parts and labour is morth than the chap is willing to spend on it so he'll take £100 for it, I haven't got the space at the mo but I'm sure if someone wanted it my mate would keep it in the yard at the garage until collection capers can be arranged.

Gear selector poorly or concentric slave borked . I know which is more likely on a diesel one .

I just remembered that the reason I hadn't sorted this is because the clutch is dodgy. Therefore I am going to sort the Jag instead for immediate use this week but am still going to get the Visa tested and drive till it absolutely cannot be driven or i get enough cash to get it properly repaired whichever comes first.

Just realised I've had 11 cars in a shade under four years. I'm just trying to figure out how I can raise the funds for number 12. Should I seek professional help?

FOA optimists RE 100 quid 75.

A mate bought a dizzle one for 400 quid back when they were worth something with the same problem ie difficult to get into gear.

As mentioned by twosmoke its highly likely to be clutch related, my mate ended up with a bill for over a grand at super m8s r8s labour for master, slave, clutch, dmf.

Well, sat at my desk and my heart skipped a beat as glancing into the car park became a magnificent site. Mint, absolutely mint. Inside and out like a 2 year old car. "I can't trade it to you I'm afraid, I had to buy a load of shit as well to get this as part of the deal so I'm going to £1950 it, it must be one of the best out there." Absolutely gutted. To be fair he's right, it's a peach and why should he trade it for a couple of hundred profit when he can sit on it and wait for the right buyer, it's the business we're in.

I asked if I could drive down the road and I was blown away, it's like brand new. I thought - frig-this, where am I going to find better for the money? Answer: nowhere. So I got back giddy as shite and bid him £1300, before agreed a deal at £1500. Yeah it was twice what I planned, but it's twice the car. Here is a sneak preview, I'm chuffed as hell with it

I think you've done well there, It looks like new and the MOT history shows it's never even failed a MOT, Look at it this way, try finding another car with that mileage, spec and condition for £1500, It wouldn't happen.

Also it has the rarer green leather, which looks amazing - the photos really don't do justice.
