What do we think of this? A local body shop has just painted this 75 in Autolak Flat Stonechip, it's the first time I've seen someone actually paint a whole car in stone chip!

Very streaky finish.

Not a job to be proud of If you ask me.

And you did.

See high end/new Audis/BMWs with matte black treatment too (though it might be vinyl), looks terrible.

I've just had a read of this month's practical classics, is it really true that @dugong has sold the knob van?

I believe Practical Classics magazine now own it.

I've found some more photos of that Rover.

for the benefit of scot-o-shiters, this weekend is the diesel gala at Bo'ness railway - I don't know much about trains but there seems to be a bit of interest amongst you - I'm trying to change a shift so I can come along on Sunday and see them in action

if I'm reading this timetable right, it looks like there will be double and treble header trains running - should be plenty noisey :)

Now that's a tidemark of a winner :)

I see the trim was all masked rather that coming off, good move as most* of the clips break and the cost for new ones is 2 x laguna!

I hope not, still waiting in anticipation.

Why in gods name would you want to do that?

Like it though.

The car is pale blue metallic. That's enough reason.

TBH I'm looking at it, looking at my Beetle's manky sills, remembering that Real Beetles have black rubber running boards, and a plan is forming ;)

Did they even key the old paint? Looks remarkably shiny...

I saw a type3 VW finished in speckle effect plasticote, looked a bit scene but at least you've not got to worry about stone chips! Just the entire panel rusting away underneath.....

Posted

I really, really, like that 75...

*skulks back into the shadows*

Same here!

Quick Rover story.

Many Rover P6Bs (the superior NZ-assembled ones) had vinyl roofs, which didn't last long in the Australian sun, so aftermarket re-vinyling pf the roof is reasonably common on these.

Don't know if I can dig out a photo, but back in 1986 I encountered a "reverse" vinylled Rover 2000 - the roof was painted, it was the entire rest of the car that had the vinyl treatment.

I think it's been keyed up with a scotchy pad but I'm not sure if that will be quite enough.

I actually like it, I think the Matt black suits it but I can imagine it being a bugger to keep clean now as all the dirt sticks to it and never comes off easily.

that rover looks terrible.

someone please put it out of its misery with some matches and petrol.

why, oh would anyone want to do that to a 75!!!!

ugh, just horrid.

I reckon all that's got to help loads, even if the alternator is fucked all that wiring wouldn't help the ew one

Just home after picking up this

No point in a collection thread,3 hrs on a train in the dark down to "sunny" N London to meet a thoroughly nice chap (you Ken),then 3 hrs back at a reasonable speed whilst Frank gives the car a good washing.

Managed to catch this in Morrys

And spotted this new model of van

Car ran like a sewing machine

Just needs the front wheels balancing? And couple of bits of interior sorting out
