I have GEM breakdown cover (for the whole family at reasonable cost) and get the Good Motoring magazine with it. The new issue out today has an article going back to 1965 & pairing cars from then to now on a journey to their headquarters. Quite interesting. Shame my photos are blurred, I could do them again but CBA.

Why does the MK1 Cortina have front Lotus quarter bumpers on the back?

I got in my Volvo 760 this morning to drive it to a funeral in Wisbech. Its been sat for 2 months and was half-buried under a shitload of dead leaves. Did it start? Instantly, and drove perfectly all the way. Its a car for winners I tell you.

WHAT? You were in Cambs and didn't say hello? I would've taken you to the Kelsey shite garage and all that.

I've just added the 340 to my FJ policy for £19.44 plus £25 admin fee until June 2016... should be able to get it cheaper than 50 quid a month surely?

Because insurance logic and postcode loading.

Browsing StreetView for shite this eve. I have learned a thing, there is no shite in Japan.

Although given their expensive annual MOT (but stricter) equivalent, being taxed TWICE (once based on vehicle weight and once on engine size), and having to provide proof of off road parking I'd probably buy a new Toyota too... After 40 mins of idle browsing I've also yet to find a car that is even mildly grubby, everything is immaculate.

On the flipside the Toyota Crown taxis with the wing mounted mirrors are very cool.

Well, it's happened.

1,200 miles of veg only motoring and I've had to shove £3's worth of petrol into the 306 to get it to start. I feel defeated and deflated in equal measures.

Anyone know if you can make used engine oil look clear? I ask that in a not trying to claw my £3 back by a spurious or illegal manner.

This may take a while - but with a magnifying glass and tweezers you can pull the black carbon bits out - or should this be in the Bullshit thread ? ummmm

The Innocenti passed its MOT today.  Went straight through this time - it has some dodgy contacts on the front lights but fortunately they decided to behave themselves for the test.

Next in the queue is the CX.  I'm slightly less optimistic about this one...

My bro sent me that one from Osaka, I would say that the underside is mildly grubby.

European 740s were all made in Ghent IIRC, 760s were built at Kalmar or Torslanda as were late 940s.

Ironically every rotten 700/900 I've had was built in Sweden.

I'm more or less in a town centre, Ian's in the middle of bastard nowhere. You'd think 30-odd hoodlums gatecrashed his village once a year.

'Siphon' using a rope or similar. The process will take months but drip by drip it will clean it

Because it's not a normal Cortina. Says Zetec on the back so it's been upgraded*

Clutch that had magically repaired* itself t'other day has a FUBAR Master cylinder. At least my uneducated ass is getting good at diagnostics now...

Just seen five Rover/MG 75s all in a line trundling down towards the beach, couple of estates and one sounded VERY fruity so I assume, V8!

Sigh. Still not confirmed Volvo collection for Friday and the insurance company wants me to complete a proposal form on paper, which with Welsh post, leaves no guarantee of having insurance in place by Friday. Frustrating.

I can't believe they want a paper form in the mad world be live in!

Sorted. Told them to sod off (until renewal at least) and avoided the £50 new car premium by swapping insurance from the Dyane. £15 admin charge rather easier to swallow.

All that remains now is to tax it, which I'll do on the day, and actually collect it. It's currently SORN, so not worth the risk. I've got a 200-mile trip to Caerphilly and back tomorrow in the XM, then 200 miles to do in the Nippa on Friday, followed (hopefully!) by 200 miles back home in the Volvo on Saturday. I'm not planning to do much on Sunday to be honest.
