Apart from that the low coolant light seems to randomly come on even though it is full.

Might be worth checking that it's just a low coolant light,  I thought that the sender was playing up on the BX until DW found the oil level to be very low indeed as it was also the warning for that.

yep oil is ok. it is a bit strange as it randomly comes on for about 2 minutes then goes off. I assume it is a dodgy sensor but don't want to get to a stage where I ignore it and the car goes bang.

Ok, i've won this diesel PUG 405 estate, it's in Harrogate, I've  got nowhere to put it and its a long way to go and get it. Dunno why I bid, I just did. Does anybody here want it? it's only £75! If there's no interest I'll just get it anyway and find somewhere to park it. CARTAKEBACK.com will give me £140 collected from Harrogate, so I may just go down that route.

Bugger could do with bits of trim off that one but just to far away to collect realistically.

I'm in Stoke and was planning on A framing it. There's no tax or test i'm afraid! I could meet you in Nottingham on the M1 if your feeling generous (lol).

Shitting hell, Trigger that looks brilliant. Are you putting it back together yourself or is the garage doing it?

Just dropped the Outback in for an LPG conversion.

Got an early, lunchtime, finish from work yesterday, so did a quick change of the engine oil, and renewed the oil in both diffs, lovely little job in the sunshine, so easy to work on, proper bloody bolts all easy to et too.

ATF hadn't turned up so couldn't do the gearbox oil, never mind, conversion will be done by next weekend, so will do that on return, and stick a new set of Plutonium sparky plugs in it.

Those platinum plugs probably aint worth it..

i had a 328 on lpg- when i got it i wire brushed the plugs, then did 24k miles.

spark was never an issue

Must admit, my old Benz has been on LPG for about 4 years now, its still on the standard NGK's i slipped in just before conversion and its never missed a beat, but it is old school German from the Panzer school of design...i'm bloody reluctant to change the sods seeing how fragile the wiring looms are, last time that disintegrated it took the ECU with it, as they do.

The bloke doing the conversion seems to be proper old school, another one who doesn't take himself too seriously, thankfully, i'll ask him for his thoughts when i pick it up.

Saw a Peugeot 205 van this morning - XLAD or something similar. Looked to be in very smart condition and had a very odd looking number  along the lines of cc0008.

But surely if the rest of it is good it is worth doing?

That's the thing: it isn't. If I had the seal replaced, the car would still be a 198,000 mile, 17 year old car with a week's MOT, a dent of some sort in almost ever panel, a cracked windscreen and a radiator which is on the way out. If the car was immaculate and had low miles, I'd definitely get the seal replaced, but as it isn't, I'm not going to.

And yes, the breathers are clean. In fact, I cleaned out the pipes, etc. and replaced the flame trap a fortnight before the oil leak started :(
