Wow.  You've got that every kind of wrong.

It's simply the modern inability to parse any sort of context within language.

Too hard, too complex.

Far easier to simply declare entire words evil and ban their use than have any reasonable discourse.

Of course at least we know it's alright to tar the travelling community as scum as long as we don't use the P word, because it's the word that's offensive, not the context.

No it is both.

If your partner just admitted that he made a mistake and apologised everything would be fine.

Firstly, he’s not my partner, he’s my husband surely someone such as yourself would not want to offend given that my username clear says Mrs. He has apologised and said he won’t use the word again.

You seem quite eager to act the same way. The pair o' yis would get on like a house on fire....

Haven't you got a horse outside?

Clearly the word "husband" is also offensive....

Blimey, is partner an offensive word now? Husband and wife are partners in marriage.

What's a shiney?

Did you never do anything good at school Ben?

I do.

Doesn't change the fact that you're in need of a thorough shagging, darling.

I suggest "a person whom one knows and with whom has a bond of mutual affection." Rolls off the tongue pretty well.

What, is "partner" also offensive? This is clearly moving faster than I thought!

When shall we meet? And if it's to be thorough you'd better bring the horse.

Ah right, so it’s more about in some way catching mods out rather than being offended about a word. Got ya. Give yourself a shiney.

Nope nope nope. See my post above in reply to your other half.

I messaged privately as more often than not the result of doing dirty laundry in public like this is to simply cause more discord and things to spiral unnecessarily. Which is exactly what has happened. I think we are all fed up of threads being derailed in this way.

No offence was intended, I apologise if anyone was offended. I won’t use the term again as I now it has been pointed out to me how it could cause offence.

Let’s get back to talking cars... which is the point of AS.

The reason it's spiraled is because of the combination of the lack of apology from my original post. If there was one when you did reply then things would have petered out. I was entirely expecting your response to have been a proper apology.

Surely when I called you out on it being offensive, if you weren't aware of the connotations, you googled the word to see what it actually meant?

Thread derailed? This thread is 2520 pages long. No one is going to go back in it unless rooting for history or dirt (e.g. a potential future employer).

Wow.  You've got that every kind of wrong.

If someone were to say "an Irish Traveller" did X or Y, then that's just a statement of fact.  No more offensive than saying "I was cut up by an Audi driver today".

Eh? That's a strawman retort. Audi drivers aren't a race, skin colour, ethnic group.

What you appear to have an issue with is the use of the word "Pikey", which as I stated about a million posts ago now, is simply a different word used to describe a person of the turnpike.. a "pikey".

Don't give me that bollocks. We all know the common used meaning of that word is and how it was used. Even the very first result on Google makes it clear what that word means in common use in 2021. They even put in clear bold text that it is offensive.

Fuck me, this forum is looking more and more like Twitter every day.  Really don't blame Bo11ox for sacking it off.

I'm only surprised @brownnovahasn't been able to impose a Forum ban on GeorginaB. Nowt so queer as folk.

*shrugs*

What has been done to warrant a ban?

I wasn't offended does that make me a ''wrong un'' too ?

This is going to sound a bit ''Mums Net'' but why can't people just be nice to each other ?

Instead of outting someone as a bad egg and heaping misery on them all evening why not just privately message them if you are that upset.

Honestly life is too short Guys..

waaambulances hashtag on Twitter

It's a word. GROW THE FUCK UP

It's been used on this forum a LOT of times :

https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3A+autoshite.com+pikey&oq=site%3A+autoshite.com+pikey&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i58.3993j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

And only now it's a problem? what happened did your wife refuse to give you jollies and you need to pout?

Far bigger and more substantial problems then a word in this world.

Ignoring and putting the crass person attacks aside...

M*ng has been used extensively on here too:

https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Aautoshite.com+mong&oq=site%3Aautoshite.com+mong

Does that mean it's ok now to use?

All of them. None of them seem to be particularly making people laugh. What you are doing quite effectively is demonstrate to all and sundry your natural ability to pick a fight with anyone and everyone. The more fronts you open up for yourself, the better you like it.

The real icing on the cake would be if @Nicola Hwere to join forces.

You need to look through all my posts before you cast aspersions.

I have. Casting aspersions is effectively what you're doing, so it's appropriate the same be done to you.

Dodging everything else, I sense it may be a round about push back against overt moderation. If certain rules are implemented, they can and should be applicable universally. Without the rules there would be no pushback?

Iam probably wrong. I’m more of a bemused bystander these days.

Probably the safest place to be at the moment.
