Anyone in/near Barnoldswick able to collect/store the seats for me?

I'm not far away if needed.

Ha! Now you can stand up in the back of the van with twatting your head. I lost count how many times I managed to do that (including three times in five minutes) and how annoyed it made me.

That rack should fit quite a few other vans too by the way.

I'm not far away if needed.

Managed to snag an Otto Mobile Saph Cosworth on French eBay.

That should pay for a few Christmas presents.

SWMBO's K11 Micra finally rolled onto the magic 100k this morning...

...wierdly, it is exactly 14 years to the day the K11 was first sold. A nice birthday present of Super Unleaded and a jet-wash are in order.

The Discovery has finally returned to my driveway, some weeks after heading off for welding therapy. Still need to find a good way to reattach the B-post trim - the one at window level - and refitting the rear seat was a faff thanks to the snapped bolts. To think we've still got it all to do on the nearside next. I'd better get saving.

Ha - the MicraShed has half that figure on its clock. Same age though.

Todays news is all about caravan shenanigans.

Moved the van from one pitch to another one at the other end of the site at the bottom of a very steep hill - utter flange to move owing to the tightness of the corners needed to move the van round and the rocks and drop off one corner - there was at one point just 2" clearance between the van wheel and a 15 foot drop. Moving was made more difficult with the total train length of the C8 and 23 foot van. Did actually debate using the MicraShed to move the van on the grounds that it was all downhill, but glad I didnt.

Managed to mangle the jockey wheel getting the van off the car at the bottom of the hill and snapped the handle. Used a bottle jack to lift it off the tow ball.

Now leveled up and on a bigger plot with better parking.

Xantia now haz MOT. Advisories included tyres. popped into local place and a decent set of winters were coming in at £80+ a corner. Bugger that. So google fu has led me to Asda Tyres. full set fitted for 250 including balancing et al. Booked for 8 am sat.

Flexible fuel lines on Scirocco decided that they'd break free from their clips and have a bit of a dangle.

Ramp borrowed, clips snapped off and new clips made and attached using proper self tapping screws.

Job, once again, jobbed.

MOTHA_Sterling's Micra_SHED didnt want to start a few days ago, apparently the engine flooded? Seems to be a fairly common occurance on said Micra. Usually turning it over a minute or so will see it fire back into life. Yesterday evening after getting back from work, I plumped up to Micra to see if I could get it started, this time though it took a good few minutes to fire up, it seemed very reluctant, the engine turned over and over until it sounded almost like it was running, albeit rather poorly, I thought it was still turning so left the key and still ran poorly but a blip on the accelerator saw it running fine again.

I took it out for a small run just to get it up to temp and now all seems well.

Sterling has been pressed into daily take-me-to-work service. No one uses the small carpark out the front except for the works various vans, gaffers car and now my Sterling seeing as I come in earlier. I like my Rover. It needs a wash though, as does the Micra_Sterling.

GreenGart - MicraSterling has done now about 130/140k and is still going strong. Have you got any pics of your MicraShed? I do like these later facelift Micras, I have, rather strangely been taking pics of similar aged Micras out in the wild.

Why yes I do. This is SWMBO's K11...

It's nicknamed Heidi after the number plate. I did miss out on the chance to buy V68 HDY as it was on Autotrader a few weeks back. It was a 1.3 SE 5 door in the same blue...

...I have been driving it for the past three days and I've got the bug for one. I'm currently looking at a 5-dr V-plate on Autotrader which has grabbed my attention - stay tuned!

^^^^ THAT IS NICE ^^^^

It wasn't the one that WarrenG Claim had a year or so back when he started buying and selling cars? It looks the same as MotherlyOne_Sterlings Micra_Sterling: (as if you didn't know already)

They are fun little things that handle like a shopping trolly/go kart if a little wheezy on power if you plump for 998cc instead of 1.3. However, the downside is that you will attract a lot of wankers who'll cut you up, pull out in front of you, tailgate you and basically treat you as if your not there/lower form of being. You will even come across one or two people who'll want to simply run you off the road.

Transit wouldn't start this morning. Barely turning over and starter clicking. Tried jumping it and also running new earth with no joy. Measured batteries and they were both fine, took off battery clamps which were grubby and cleaned then up. Now roars into life. Downside is radio now is asking for a code. bugger

Might be one for the 'myths and old wives tales' thread, but I heard from various people back in the auction days that if you put those older Ford stereos in the freezer overnight, it resets the code or some such.

I take no responsibility for any outcome other than sucess.

^ I have heard this rumour too, though I was told it by a scrappie.

1. Pull radio out of dash.

2. Find serial number sticker, write number down.

3. Go online, find free decoder software, use serial number to get code.

4. Return to van, enter code, listen to some bangin' choonz.

Despite what people may say, freezers are not good for ICE ;)

I've been harbouring thoughts of buying one of the many borked rx8's out there and doing an engine rebuild on it over the winter /next 17 years.

The worst that could happen is I end up with a really cool paper weight and an rx8 with a 1.6 pinto in it.

I had the exact same idea... I quickly changed my mind when I checked the prices of the parts necessary for a basic rebuild.

Piston power is the way forward. I'm sure most shitters would highly* recommend you throw away the unreliable, thirsty rotary and replace it with a Cologne V4 out of a rusty Saab 96.

Doesn't work :)

The theory is that the cold erases the memory on the EPROM chip, after which the radio stops asking for a code. It's not a very robust theory, because there are plenty of places on earth where it regularly hits -18ºc (the temperature of a domestic freezer) and everyone in Canada didn't find their radios decoding themselves. Or maybe they did, and Canada's so trusting that no-one noticed.

Anyway, the pictured radio sat in the freezer overnight and still demanded a code, so I left it in for a week but to no avail. I hurled it in the recycling bin at the tip safe in the knowledge no thieving scum ever got to enjoy the monophonic delights of the Sound 2001.

Another myth about Ford radios is that they contain a chip which can make a Sky box receive all the premium channels. They do not, although admittedly I have not tried this one out. Where's my soldering iron?

Not a ford jobbie, it is a replacement Goodmans double din. there is a code scratched into the sunvisor but that doesn't work. Will have to pull it out and see if it written elsewhere.

Also followed Freds link and adjustd for more powah!

I seem to have escaped that, even when wearing the pink shirt and tie or even the flowery shirt with pink tie...

I think being bald, 21 stone and shaped like a brick privy has something to do with it though.

No it's not the same one my friend. I bought it from Suffolk but it originally came from West Sussex.

I just get a lot of people overtaking me when I'm driving her to be fair. Not a big deal! I can live with that.

It seems like the K11 bug has hit me as I've just plopped a deposit down on one today! Expect an *epic* tat-collection thread this weekend, if it turns out to be a good one and not a pile of scrap. There's an interesting story behind my choice too as I shall reveal.

Thanks* to Trigger for inspiring me to get my hands on a Nissan Leaf. I now really want one. I've had a very enjoyable 300 miles in it and am seriously going to miss the effortless power, serenity and the heated seats and steering wheel. OMG ALL MODERNZ R NOT SHIT! The automatic wipers were rubbish though.

Today, I will mostly be travelling to the Netherlands in The Volvo for the weekend. Should be fun

It's an Astra,  it's bumper popped back into shape when I let the handbrake off in the BX.

DW I take it, it was just charging off your normal house supply? Did it take a full charge overnight? How was the charge rate when you drove it was it steady or did it take any sudden downward turns?

Just ordered a set of " dagenham motors " repro ford dealer plates and rear window sticker from a graphics company. Decided as the sierra is on an Essex number and was a company vehicle it would be fitting. Supposed to take 2 weeks, can't wait!!
