Does make you wonder about the state of some of the bridges that you drive on......

And privatised road maintenance.

Having recently been on Italian roads I'm not that surprised. They appear shockingly badly maintained.

They also seem to have quite a lot of elevated roads....

I'm buying a 'spare' rear seat for my Mondeo from a guy in Lewes (sussex). I'm going to pick it up in the next 10 days or so, but if anyone regularly travels Sussex to Kent way as a matter of course please let me know.

Took the family to the welsh mountain zoo.

Admission food and prezzies cost nearly £80.

It cost me £80 to watch a gibbon use a rope to get rid of an itchy arse.

I'm sorry to announce that the shitters showroom has been shut down only a few hours after it opened. I just found another gem to go in and photo'd it only to be told to stick it with the eBay tat. This is not mere tat and it clearly isn't on eBay so I don't think I can be arsed any more.

So having drained the 12 year old weed killer from the MGB yesterday I syphoned some fresh petrol from the roadster for her. Let it flow through, killed some more weeds, then tried starting her for the first time in a dozen years. Tried and failed, but sounded positive. Check plugs, check points try again. Oh yes, my beauty, even on three cylinders it was a lovely sound.

Big problem was she showed no oil pressure. Stop and think. It's a capillary system so either the oil pumps fucked or ???. Then I remembered the old works engineering adage, "If in doubt, give it a clout". So I twated the dash board top, yipee, oil pressure is spot on.

Changed plugs around, checked dizzy top (it's a shit fit) and four cylinders are happy. Clutch engaged but wouldn't move. Offside rear shoes stuck ( I left her in neutral and handbrake off all those years ago). Again, big hammer and she moved.

Just have to unseize garage door now before I die of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Oh I get it now. To be fair probably should be in the ebay thread,it’s not ebay, but the sentiment is the same.

That way it doesn’t get lost.

Rover was booked for its MoT tomorrow. Gave it a wash and check over this evening then this.

Stalled on a roundabout and the oil light came on. No one helped me obviously but I managed to push it to a safe place. There's oil in it so pump I assume.

Shame it's on a yellow, otherwise I'd get Mrs T to pick me up and deal with the bastard tomorrow or whenever. Haven't had me tea yet, I'm starving!

Hang on, oil light came on then the engine cut out OR

Stalled/ engine cut out then oil light came on?

There's a big difference.

Shocking scenes from Italy. You would wonder how something like that could happen nowadays.

REELYABUL HONDA ENJIN M8. But as others have said, if you stalled it, then all the lights will come on. I wouldn't fear the worst yet.

Not as many as they used too....

But yes they do have a hell of a lot of them. But then with how they all drive the extra risk of death probably is viewed as a good thing.

Fitted a replacement window in the rear side door of the L200, instead of the cut down plastic drum, so that is the last of the MOT advisories done.

No excuse not to give it a clean now though.

It's too dark.

CBA.

Midges.

Washing cars is not fun.

Will they do for now?

Encouraged by the slightly cooler weather and a clear driveway thanks to my son using the V70 today instead of cycling to work, I dug my Reliant out of the garage and drove it round the estate three times then did a longer loop to include a nearby hamlet (very small village, not a cigar).  It behaved and was much quieter inside with the engine cowling re-fitted.  The last brief outing was to the FOD on FotU day when I had to leave the cowling off to prevent fuel vapour locking.  That trip roasted me alive whilst being deafened.

Yes I was too quick to judge caught in the moment. It started up after 20 minutes and I managed to get home, but then it stalled on me again. I then noticed with the ignition switched on the warning light doesn't illuminate each time, so there must be something amiss with the electricity side of things instead.

I tested the battery and that's healthy, so wire fiddleidge is on the cards for tomorrow. I suppose a new voltage regular wouldn't hurt either, as the alternator is one thing I've never touched on this car.

Austin 12/6 project has arrived. It’s a 6 cylinder from 1931, of 1461cc - unfortunately seized though. Project thread to come.

There's a main relay behind the centre console that may have some dry joints.

Unscrew the trim piece from the sides, get the gear lever out of the way, and unclip the trim and lift it away. The unit is a brown box on the passenger side.

The circuit board levers out of the box and then can be repaired with some soldering.

Posted

That's another option as I did repair* that relay a few years ago. Could well be causing problems again.
