In parts. There’s a big new development which tedious middle-class types moved into, full of boring people like me. Aylesham proper is interesting and definitely not a particularly well off place but I’ve had very positive interactions with the locals. Was bad after the pit closed originally I gather.

Anti theft ejector seat or explodes - EVERYONE knows that!

Or a la Father Ted... gwan....  gwan....  gwan....  gwan....  gwan....  gwan....

It's even closer now - perhaps the handbrake's failed?

There was a new development of private houses built in the late 1980s in the village which was commonly known as Brookside by the locals

Elvington and Betteshanger also really suffered when the pits closed, as did the Mill Hill area of Deal; a lot of miners came from those places, as they were originally set up to house the miners and their families.

Quite a few older ex-miners never found another job. My dad was lucky, as he got a job with Pfizer, but he hated every minute of it.

I think the handbrake is wonky - it's now got a chock under the tyre.

Clearly absolutely, totally and irrevocably fucked.

Tell him you'll take it off his hands for £150, since you're feeling generous today.

Weirdly, I prefer these over a VW Crafter/Merc Sprinter or current Citroen/peugeot and Renault/GM vans. Think they drive nicely, but pedals are a bit cramped for my huge boots. Needs organ pedal accelerator.

It's gone somewhere out of sight now - this Bugatti has just turned up though :-)

I'm at a festival (Wickham).

Turns out lowered Bilstein shocks are really shit on recently ploughed fields, I do hope I haven't bashed anything important on the underside.

Sitting in the shade of the car waiting for the gates to open I can't help noticing that one of my rear arches is a little crispy too...

Hah! Don’t look under the patio...

We very nearly bought an ex-council house in Elvington. It was lovely. Pulled out over covenants and lack of paperwork but having been back to go to the Chinese over the road from there, I’m rather glad we didn’t buy it...

There’s no one big issue. It’s a lot of small design issues that have really fucked me off. I cannot get comfortable in the drivers seat at all. Driven from Chicklade to Fleet Services and my back is killing me. Wouldn’t be a problem in my Golf, or an older Transit...

My aunt used to live in one of those very houses on Adelaide Road in the early 1990s. Can't remember which number, though.

IIRC, all the semis on that street were imbued with big drives and big gardens. Perfect for car parking/storage  :-D

Older transits (banana engine era and before) I find uncomfortable to sit in, deafening to be in and horrendous manners on the road. Same with sherpa based LDVs. I like the 2000-on transits, a vast improvement to drive over the smilers & previous, a lot roomier for a man of my stature.

Yes, I can well recall racing-spec Cosworths in Shell Gemini sponsorship livery...

It wasn't around 2003 that Shell changed the name, was it?

Nul points, famously.

Jesus that's horrific.

I vote this to be the official Autoshite National Anthem

Got my mk2 Fiesta back today. Bob stuck a plate on the sill for £30 and while it won't win welder or the year it will pass it test.

Asked him how much to do both back arches, '£30 a side' (everything is £30) said I'd see and get some bits 'no don't I might be able to do it in fibre glass' I said I want metal (I can bodge it myself and don't want to) then he starts going on about trim setting on fire. Said hof he does do it I'll do all the prep!

ST also went to the closest garage to see about its random banging. Up on the ramp and sod all found or looks wrong. Took it for a drive and no sounds at all. New exhaust is wobbly but it was too loud for that. Will just have to see.

Just got about 40 seconds in...... good god - my ears are crying...... I didn't know that was even possible.......

Oh now c'mon, there was a note around the 1:30 mark which was nearly in tune.

I'm not going to listen to it, but wasn't it all caused by sound issues? As I recall, she couldn't actually hear the music, which is why she couldn't sing in tune with it. Must have been fun in front of millions of people... (I still hate Eurovision though).

Let's see the patch then, Bob sounds old school

I have owned some nice cars over the years but it has to be said the Visa is a bit of a shed.

Saw these chaps limping around a roundabout in a quite beleaguered way.

Stopped to offer assistance, realising as I pulled up I had a tow hook but no rope. It transpired a brand new hub on the car was failing in a mechanically grinding way.

Sadly my newly acquired motor didn’t have even have a jack in the boot (news to me) so I could only provide fairly useless moral support and after a spot of sympathetic chin rubbing and admiring of metal, I left them to await the wife and toolkit.

Drove home feeling a woefully inadequate Samaritan (no idea when he snuck in the car)

I know what roundabout you're talking about - I saw them too!
