Toyota did do a metallic white, or rather a pearl white, but not until the Lexus came out I thought.  Before that I'm pretty sure all their cars were flat white.  So it's probably silver.

This times a million. A medical with eye test and some sort of aptitude test would help weed out the more dangerous ones.

I've drop the Rover off at my tamed mechanics for a small patch to be welded in the boot, I felt it added a little class to the forecourt.

depends which bridge it is going over, local to here at Marske Metals they charge you £10 for every wheel and tyre either on or in the car before it goes into the frag pile.

i woke up this morning to this

 

kerry brought it to homeworld last night. it is we think the first time in decades that Rodney has left Pickering..... and he ran really well over the moors.

now its not perfect cos the idle speed is on the hight side, and the mixture is leaner than it should be. so for climbing steep hills, a touch of choke is needed. but there is no over heating, the brakes are ok and the clutch is perfect, on the flat then runnng without the choke is possible. it needs a proper tune-up, but as London to Brighton is this weekend, we'll try and get that sorted in the near future.

then on to the lock-up to pick cocopop up. we had to go and get some groceries too cos we had nothing to eat in the house

 

we got this delivered the other day, cos there are plenty of "little cherubs" who would take this pretty little car and smash it up for fun and just because they can

 

we have one for marvin and one for cocopop. we have got the first one for marvin after some little fekker took it 3 years ago and we have got into the habit of putting them on no matter where we are. we added a mascot "a wee Felix the cat" cos all the best cars have a mascot

 

and put a rug over the back seat just to cover up the sun damaged top of the seat. there was a near identical set of seats on flea-bay recently. i did try and buy it, but when the bidding hit £150 i dropped out. that was too rich for me (at the moment) so this will do as a temporary measure

 

one issue we have had is that the black one fancies itself as "oddjob" with the frequent flinging off of the hubcaps. i have put a stop to that, yep they are now cable tied on!

 

so with some of the fleet in, the neighbours will be loving* us

Whoever it is that owns a turquoise Volvo estate and gave me a lights flash and a wave today, hi!  Seemed a day for it, the guy on the scooter/moped in front of me gave me an OK hand gesture (no really) too.  Not used to this sort of attention.  Typically, even though I have a dashcam now, for some reason it didn't save that bit of video, nor the bit where I saw a tidy Minor and a new Mustang, but it did at least capture the bit with the Mk2 Cavalier saloon in it.

 

Also, ran out of welding gas today 3/4s of the way through stitching in the big patch on the bottom of the door I've been repairing, so that was also annoying as I hoped to have that done this weekend and now I'll have to wait for new gas to arrive since I've enough welding left to get through  there's really no point getting a tiny bottle.

Spent yesterday afternoon and this afternoon doing a couple of odd jobs and tidying on the ‘Green Monkey’ (the Mercury!). Followed up by a good wash and hoover out.

Tomorrow morning will see yet more gas put in and some white ribbons tied onto the hood ornament and door mirrors then off to Hedge End for a colleagues wedding!

 

It’s very flattering to have my car chosen for this and it’ll certainly make a statement! Great to do it for them too.

 

 

 

But I’m shitting myself!!

The Land Rover is still not home, it is running and drivable but a compression test shows it down on one cylinder, so is a bit smokey and occasional backfire, also slightly rattly timing chain (has it jumped a tooth?). Hopefully it's just a valve leaking, so it's of with its head. I am still in the hired Fiesta which at £84 per week and 55mpg is almost cheaper than putting petrol in the Land Rover. Although not being able to put dogs in the hire car is a bit inconvenient

try some gas less wire in it , converted mine it works , but the wire speed has to be a lot higher .....

 

some pigeon shit practice  ....  it does clean up well with a wire brush !!

 

yesterday the terrible 60mph whistle came back thanks to the warm weather and a open window ... a wandering digit found the offending slot and some goo was inserted ....

My wing mirror turned out to be the source of a massive mystery rattle on my car too, the casing was all loose. Currently wearing a wrap of tape for now until I next find myself with a tube of tigerseal and 5 minutes spare. Think the passenger side is also doing it...

 

Don't forget the goo is there and fold it in though...

That’s my concern!

It’ll get a good run down the motorway first, brief stop at brides parents house to pick her and her dad up. Then 10 mins down the road to church. God knows how long they’ll be inside? An hour?

Finally it’s a 20ish mile trip from the church to the hotel and venue for their meal/party thing, mostly B roads.

 

Fingers crossed it’ll be fine. It was spot on last time I used it about a week ago.

The bit I’m worried about most is the wait while they’re in the church...

I’ve just had a look at what I’d need to wear. Somehow I don’t think jeans, T shirt and trainers are going to cut it for this!

So I’ve managed to find some black trousers but I thought I had a white shirt, I don’t! Only shirt I’ve got is black.

That’ll have to do I suppose, I’ll lighten it up a bit with one of my dads brighter colour ties since I don’t have any.

 

In my defence I don’t wear stuff like that ever!

Tried the mini (briefly, in the garage, cos there was too much shite in the drive blocking going any further) and it all seems fine, gears engage with no graunching - need to shift the cars about and get a better run in it

Non-car related, apologies.  After expressing my misery recently my other half has somehow managed to get me into helping with tech for a big show at a theatre that seats a couple of thousand.  No problem with doing tech at all - after all, a large part of my job is light and sound engineering.  I'm a one-man-band that does the lighting plans, sets up the cues and operates all the tech myself but on a small scale.  The most is up to about 300 at a time.  I thought I would be asked to be sound op or just help out at rehearsals, which would be great.

 

Except that they want me to be assistant technical manager.  Calling all the cues over the headsets.  The bloke who normally does it is off being technical manager for a large ballet company so they've asked me to sit in and direct the show running.  He will be there at points but they need somebody else to do it.  I'm going to treat it like a job interview.  It's certainly a big f*#@ing deal.  And they're going to pay me.
