Stuboy, you made a very good job on that dent, take a bow. Don;t know if you have heard of this but with small dents, pouring a kettle of very hot water over the dent will sometimes expand the metal and cause the dent to pop out as it cools. Works a treat on plastic bumpers.

If suddenly faced with the need to left foot brake - badly idling automatic for example - just take your left shoe off.   The extra sensitivity is remarkable.

Seen a mildly rat look ford ranger on the motorway yesterday......... And actually quite liked it.

Didn't get a pic because driving but it was what looked like a 2wd single cab, generally very battered and rusty but with some fancy chrome wheels and lowered a tad but not "slammed" (yo)

Lots of stickers on the rear window naturally, bucket seats and a nascaresque homemade spoiler on the top of the tailgate. (basically a sheet of steel welded along the edge at an angle, ala lightning mcqueen)

This so far has been outside my sphere of motoring interest but I had a pleasant evening browsing images of rat rod trucks (pickups to us) and can see the appeal.

Was it a white one? If so, that's round Carrick way quite a lot - have seen it coming in and out of a residential street along the top road.

Agreed, not necessarily my bag but strangely attractive in its own way... will try for pics next time I see it parked at the BP garage at Milebush.

Am delighted to have got below the £150 barrier on a new set of tyres for my Bedford. The rate they're getting the through the silly names a Good Wanking can't be far off though.

My other cheery news is that the magic balancing powder for diy tyre stretchers works OK at decent speeds. Until I got the 205 the only way I could get over 85 (for test purposes) required a cliff.

Yup white one with some faded text on the side along the lines of "Boston alternator services" or similar

^^^ The very same. Will keep my eyes (and camera) peeled!

As awful and hipster as it may sound, I would love one with a stack exhaust with the wee flap on the top as a sort of parts hunter.

If the single cab had enough length in the bed to accommodate a motorcycle it would be the perfect second car for me....

Completed the arduous task of keeping Mrs Bag happy with the rebuild of the CMax front suspension and brake saga.... Back onto the Exeo (fake Audi/Aldi?) running it up after the head build, had a fuel pressure sensor code flag up and a god awful misfire.... Fu@k.... Popped the bonnet to find I hadn't pushed the connector all the home, cheapest 'fix' of the week so far. I H8 modernz.

Am yearning some proper chod that could manage 360 miles a week, or see if Mrs bag will bear shite on the drive for weekend use.

Reading the literature from merc. It’s designed as an emergency brake, hence the foot pedal where you can get more leverage than a handle. I don’t really use it much, leaving it in P is fine. A hangover from the Cx days when the handbrake was useful one day a year at the mot station.

Construction & use regs mean all parking brakes must work as a separate secondary braking system.

The 'handbrake' on the BGD only works when the car is in park and then it comes on automatically, you honestly cannot put the handbrake on yourself (like you can't turn on the rear screen heater) so no idea how they got round the above regs. Incidentally, all the late cars are like it so mine ain't fooked... again!

Just driven over to Newton Abbot in the pissing rain to meet some friends who are over from France for the day (going straight back after collecting their stuff from storage) and had lights, wipers, air con everything on and NO ELECTRICAL FAULTS! Fucking specialists at £120ph who fit new parts wrongly and then say you need a new drivers information panel to cure all your warning messages! No, you just need to be able to fit a set of fan belts properly you fuckwits!

Of course, I have just had to go and dry the back of the car as (as usual) the back windows were wide open to allow floppy tabs some wind and the car got soaked inside. Mind, I was glad the windows were open as Phoebe had declined to go out this morning (pissing rain, she's not a fan) and so she was farting like a trooper in the back of the car, at one point Chester was pressed up against the door furthest from her with his head out of the window into 60MPH rain as that was preferable to smelling her!

Honda has sold. Told the buyer I'd put a fresh MOT on it. It failed on rear brake imbalance. Also turned out I'd dropped a copper washer refitting the nearside front caliper. Idiot. Fixed during the test.

Should all be sorted this afternoon.

Looking forward to the replacement :)

So am I. It'll be coming from the Bulgaria trip, and I have no idea what it'll be.

A clean, an adjust and a pass.

I will miss the Honda I think, but that's its third MOT in my ownership. That generally never happens, so it's time to move on.

^^^ Funny, I was just thinking that last night, stuck behind two eejits having a hard time getting over the harbour carpark's speed bumps - except it's mostly E60 BMWs and Type 4B Audi A6s causing the commotion round our way these days, rather than the Corsa SRi and Saxo VTS flavoured-nonsense of my yoof.

At a distance, it looks like a bunch of corporate middle-managers having some sort of public and embarrassing midlife crisis... then you get closer and it looks worryingly like they're being driven by twelve-year-olds.

That's how I know I'm proper old these days.

Popped over to Mercedes of ascot earlier to see someone face to face about the balljoint. It is now booked in for the 21st May.

Guess how much. £422 ish for the part as I established earlier, and £455 labour including the wheel alignment. At least they will do it though. I’ve never had so much trouble trying to get someone to even call me back.

Whilst in the showroom I did some window shopping. Most of the interiors looked very similar - huge iPad stuck to the dash with shiny twirly wheel by the gearstick. A class from £20,000, amg convertible thing was £92k and the G wagon £99k! I could spend £1000 on mine every 12 months for a hundred years!

ADVANCE WARNING

TV CHANNEL 'BLAZE' NUMBER 216 ON VIRGIN, 'FLPPING BANGERS'

there doing a citroen bx.

9pm.

Posted

Driving the Princess this past month as sole transport has got me considering replacing the Rover with a BX again.  This is irrational and stupid.  The Rover is a very well sorted car, if I did nothing at all to it I expect it would soldier on happily for many thousands of miles.  It's also got me considering downsizing to just the Princess which is even more irrational and stupid.

We'll see how I feel in another six months or so when the Princess has had opportunity to have another one of its tantrums.

A local 2cver is selling his bx......

If anyone is interested or knows someone who might be please contact Bob

(07799280940)

Citroen BX 1.9 GTI

1991 (H)

Light grey

Sunroof with wind deflector

Steel wheels and 5 new tyres

New Battery

New starter motor

New cambelt

New wishbone bushes

Moss alarm (for security, not to warn of accumulating green stuff on the

bodywork)

MOT to April 29th 2019 Mileage 104,551. Only done 272 miles since 2015

It looks a bit tired at the moment but would clean up quite well. There is a

bit or rust both sides on the windscreen surround and an advice on minor

rust on the brake discs - probably because it needs driving.

Price £1200 but offers welcome

Viewing (at Eastergate near Chichester) would be required by the end of

April or after they come back from their travels.
