Maiden voyage successful! Goes pretty well, considering. Repaired the puncture, too.

Yes, my mess is now more vertical. Scored a really decent heavy-duty shelving unit. Ran some old floor boards around the middle bench, to stop stuff rolling off it, and one end has nails for tool hanging. Even built a small shelf unit at the back out of old pallets. Need to do further work along those lines methinks. There are a lot of empty oil and water bottles that I need to dispose of. They're clogging up the bottom shelf at the moment.

That's about six hours of work! I hate tidying up.

So do I!

Instead of tidying as I go I let it dissolve into chaos until it becomes impossible to walk around. # stupid idiot

Yes, I'd very much got to that stage. My video followers may have had a point. Still a LOT of work to do, but as I'm not a NYE party type, I'll be able to crack on tomorrow.

Good effort Ian! Something's it s nice to be able to move without fear of

of tripping up/smashing the part you need by standing on it..

Wish I could achieve it!

Drove back from Wrexham to Surrey this morning. 190 miles, 3hours 20mins- a record, and I didn’t go over 65 either as the bike on roof makes me nervous. made over 30mpg too. Just given it a wash as the poor thing had mud on the roof from the mountain bike. Now it’s raining.

My only interaction with the fiat over the week was to get rid of some leaves that had blown into the garage. The only reason it’s lasted so long so far is to keep it away from salty wet roads.

i was talking to my parent’s neighbours Dad yesterday about the merc. He wanted to know if it had a spare wheel. He said he has a new e class ( was in a Peugeot partner thing yesterday) and had a puncture last week, no spare, just foam. But he’s run over a metal packing strip which put a 6inch slash across the tread. Aa took 3.5 hours and recovered him to the nearest place that was available for tyres then which was st Asaph. Had his mother, 90, and his grandchildren in the car too. He says he’s going to try and get Mercedes to give him a spare.

I wished him good luck!

Nice work DW, I cleared out my garage a while back, it was unpleasant work and took two trips to the tip with the van but seeing as I got rid of most of the crap piled up in there, including about 10 litres of old oil and a load of old filters, mostly from cars I don't own any more or have serviced again since, it did make for a huge improvement and I can actually use the space now, plus I can find things.  It was well worth the effort.

The other side of the Invacar is still complete bedlam. That's tomorrow's little job. The Honda is going to be in for a serious tip mission! Or maybe I'll test the Lexus' boot capacity...

I hate tidying up too. Infact I'm sat on my garage floor right this moment sorting through boxes.

Well I say that but that's a lie. In clearing, I found my vacuum tester and I've just attached it to the MGBs original distributor. Turns out it won't hold a vacuum at all.

I guess that's not a good thing.

Decided to do a bit on the Alfasud as it was looking a little unloved.

Not run in 8 years. Some fresh Pez and a healthy install of electricity soon saw it strike up no bother.

Seems a Land Rover has self combusted at the multi storey car park at the Liverpool echo arena which is hosting a horse show, currently the whole 3rd floor is alight with another couple of floors above, I think there is going to be a bit of a mess by morning, no signs of casualties as yet thankfully !

Your username does not match your car collection.

That’s not what SWMBO would say...

I’m not sure a Welsh* wizard with a car collection is one of the horsemen.

Good omens is on r4xtra this week though- Crowley has a nice Bentley saloon.

Dunno so much, now he has fancy pants shelving with the potential for organised* storage.

If the organising happens I’ll believe the apocalypse is upon us.

*I’m not worried, the next Invacar update will be amongst the chaos we all love with a 2CV blocked in by shelving....

I had a poke around under the Audi's bonnet today and found to my dismay that the pump is all fly-by-wire with not a single good honest Bowden cable to be seen anywhere.  Which makes me wonder whether the occasional unresponsive throttle might be down to a dodgy potentiometer or however the fuck these things work, rather than a fuelling issue.  I certainly couldn't see any sign of air in the fuel lines, although an e-throttle issue wouldn't explain the chuggy idle.

It'd also blown a sidelight bulb - they are the old fashioned bayonet type and I didn't have any in stock, so trundled down to Roys of Wroxham to pick some up.  They had a special offer on 20w mini halogen bulbs the same size, so I bought a pair of those, and feck me do they make a difference.  The sidelights have gone from almost invisible to almost as bright as the headlights.  I don't think they'll cause any electrical issues as 20w is less than 2 amps and therefore highly unlikely to melt anything.

I've decided to stay in for new year this year - I'm knackered and a bit headachey, but above all I just can't be arsed.  Maybe I'm getting old.

I ordered some really shit shelves off ebay for 20 quid to try to sort my disaster of a lockup.

I've got some amount of shite in there.

Love that alfasud.

I was sent to the shops with a list. The usual messages (groceries). Unbeknownst to wifey, other messages were being exchanged betwixt myself and a purveyor of fine tat.

Needless to say and to cut a long story short, I came home with more than the nibbles I was sent for.

I didn't buy his maserati bi-turbo.

I didn't even buy thispost-5582-0-43678800-1514763104_thumb.jpg

I did buy four wheels though. Here's two of thempost-5582-0-45960200-1514762949_thumb.jpg
