I'm no expert on paint, but that rear door isn't quite the same shade.

I'd be painting the rest of the car to match the door.

Neither was the one on the other side!

Typical patchwork 2cv that one,it died its death with me when the pressurized oil feed pipe started peeing oil out by one head, bought a new one, found out the wings needed to come off,and the will came off with the nut, then the ridiculously expensive new pipe came from ecas in a coil, not even prebent, and snapped a banjo bolt.I got shot then.glad I got to own one, would never be possible now.

Drove home from work and thought its and whys people flashing me, well turns out dipped beam bulb had blown, got up early next day as hand to take back 24hour heart bp monitor, easy to change 2 bolts remove grill , 2 bolts ontop headlight (there is 1 underneath but mine are missing) remove bulb clip this was fiddly as its offset , replace bulb, refitting reversal of removing.

Snap.....I've a mk1 focus with a headlight out and a 24 ECG to hand back tomorrow!! Freaky.....

Slightly concerned on the way home as I could smell a horrible burny smell. In the traditional manner I ignored it hoping it would go away. Fortunately when I reached a bit of road with street lighting I discovered it was the smoke coming from the exhaust of the BMW in front, the sealed glow worms on the Land Rover were not bright enough to show it

Similar on the way to work, left the park straight onto the stationary a30. Very soon smelt petrol very strongly. I was worried as it didn’t seem to be clearing and I was visibly in a car at least 15 years older than anything else around and nothing visible with a choke. As I moved along the road slowly the smell went, so I’m not yet convinced it wasn’t me, but haven’t had chance to check yet.

Talking of Hafrauds, I only use them for bike oil & Champion cof038 oil filters for my GSX. They don't know what they are on about but these parts are on the shelf & after 70k or so on their oil it seems quite happy. Gearbox is smoother & the engine is quieter than the oil the bike shop sell too, hence I stick to it.

Sitting outside school, this cold morning, I was jabbed toward by a fellow parent 'Oi, m8!' ... you've got something dribbling under the back :(

... I was parked with the engine going so I eased forward a few foot and went round the back to investigate the 'puddle'.

Turns out its water/ponky condensate [ice cold pipe]...

I just can't work out how the water is dribbling out in front of the back-box (agggghh = holed!!) :/

ALL back boxes have a drain hole to let the condensation out eventually.

£400 for an early Prius??? Is it fucked?

Aye. MOT free and knackered. I've got visions of nabbing it for £200 and getting a refreshed battery pack for £500 and bobs your uncle.

The long-suffering Voyager got some attention this afternoon. (I put this off as long as I could, googling 'Dodge Caravan (the most populous US equivalent model) ABS light on', but gave up when over 60% of the septic responses on many fora turned out to be "disconnect the battery for half an hour")). Took the code reader to it first in the vain hope that it would tell me why the ABS light has come on.

Nope. It did however read two other codes - one telling me an O2 sensor is up the swanee (same code as I had on the presidential Renner - can code readers store codes that they've previously read from a completely different vehicle?... no, don't be daft). However the live data shows the O2 sensor switching as expected, so I don't know what to make of that... but the second code tells me the intake air temperature sensor is not sending... it turns out there's a good reason for this - it's not connected. Now how could that have happened ...  . I'll clear the codes tomorrow and see if the O2 sensor error reoccurs.

Before I get to the ABS, a quick look at the coolant level. Hmm. Expansion tank half full. Radiator half full. This explains why it's very hesitant about switching to run on LPG - the vaporiser is most likely not getting any coolant in it, so it freezes up and stops the gas flowing. I know where the coolant has been escaping too - when warmed up, there's a persistent drip from the coolant input pipe at the vaporiser. I know some blokes in town who I can bother for replacement pipe by the metre, so that's Saturday's job...

And finally, to work my way round the ABS sensors. This is when it starts raining... Both the front toothed rings are fairly rusty but still holding their shape and I can't see any crud stuck under the sensors. No apparent damage to the leads. Of course, the osf mounting bolt ain't moving, so I douse it in plusgas and move on. The nsf doesn't have a mounting bolt at all - it's obvs sheared for a PO and been glued back in place. Fairly effectively tho. Onto the rears - both of these are entirely enclosed by convincing-looking plastic covers. Again, no damage to the leads. By this stage, I'm getting fairly saturated but I'm saved from further discomfort by SWMBO returning home not feeling very well. Electrickery investigations with the sensors will have to wait till tomorrow...

These eBay emails are heart attack inducing - I didn’t bid on this item I’m just watching it - just me that thinks it reads otherwise??

Candle power until next week! Woo-hoo!

Anyway, I went out for a drive in the Nippa earlier, and I found this.

I was first on the scene. Poor girl was trying to get out - not easy on your own! I held the door for her, gave her a hug when requested, then called the Police. Friends and family then arrived, so I concluded that my work was done and continued on my way. It's a nasty bend to be fair. I got stuck there in the stripey BX seven years ago (seven? bloody hell! Though we were stuck because we couldn't climb the hill the other side of the bend. I couldn't carry enough momentum).
