Those heated seats are a god send on mornings like this

Don’t think the heaters on this coach work very well - it’s fucking Baltic!

I was looking out the window last night and this big black bloke was sitting in the middle of the street on a horse, he had some pointy metal hat on and was waving a sword about.

The knights are definitely getting darker.

a chance read of vulgalors rover thread i saw a comment by Anthony re: putting your actual name in for insurance quotes (they credit check etc) ive always put fake details in (name, email, phone etc) to avoid spam, and for say,a 1993 205,cheapest basic policy was always around £700-800,i blamed this on having no ncb (only really had classic polices, but now classic cars are out of reach, not possible anymore) just bunged my real name in and got a quick quote online of £300!

I might have a car soon, after a break of getting on for 3 years!

shopping,shoppingg! exciting!

A 1993 205 is probably now in Classic Car territory.

I think I'm actually going to SORN the 2CV for the winter. First frost last night, so the council will be merrily hurling salt all over the place. I think I'd like to try and actually keep the 2CV solid for a bit longer yet. Especially as there are one or two places where the paint has cracked... (needs rectification, but I need to get it to Bradford for that).

I went through Bradford yesterday *shudder*

I was in the Range yesterday. They have loads of car paints, good old Rover Russet Brown, Amaranth & Inca Yellow to name a few

Sussex Shiters - if you're available on Friday, I may have need of assistance for my ridiculous (even by my standards) collection caper. I'll know more on Thursday.

For quotes, put your real name in.

For adjustments, create a fake quote under a nonsense name and then adjust it.

I remember some RR users getting grief from an I surer as they'd used the online form to scope out some changes, not followed through, but then the insurers got in touch wanting proof that they hadn't modified the car because they had a record online of them saying they had.

Fixed the rust on the dollop today :) It was only a bubble low down on the passengers wing, but me+ bubble = OCD meltdown! So I attacked it with a stanley knife! After much cutting and scraping away I noted two things:

I, there was no rust just a crappy bit of paint that hadn't adherred but it got treated anyway, then painted, then the Union flag emblem which the dogs bought me for my birthday (today - where's my pressies?) were attached and look the canines cajones!  I had been wondering where to stick them and low down looks really good.

2, there was an awful lot of red stuff covering all the tools I had been using, the side of the car and the white towel I was kneeling on. Yes, I had been holding the stanley knife (actually a scalpel thing) the wrong way round and had cut rather deeply into my thumb in three separate places. Sod was so sharp I never felt a thing! As I had no plasters I wrapped the offending digit in masking tape and within minutes it had soaked it and was again making puddles.  Fortunately a mate turned up who was in the Army and is always prepared for any eventuality turned up, steri-strips to hold it together and some pad thing then a load of medical type tape had it under control and looks a lot better than blood soaked masking tape :)

Must be something going round today, as I slashed my thumb at work.  Using my own fingernail!

I went to pull an empty tray out of the rack in the back of the van; the tray got hitched on the rack as the rack isn't quite straight, and my hand slipped off it.  Finger closed on thumb at high speed.  OW, says I, or words to that effect.  All I could do was wrap my thumb in tissue because I'm allergic to plasters.  What fun.

Masking tape is my default choice for small wounds, if you keep wrapping the blood will eventually stop coming through; although on one occasion when I cut my hand with a secateurs my hand ended up looking like a mallet. I was also unimpressed by the dogs licking up the trail of blood and looking lovingly at me hoping for more. I also recall a friend doing the masking tape trick after he had accidentally drilled a hole in his leg, he did stick some Savlon in the hole first and then didn't look at it for a good while, surprisingly it healed quite well.

How allergic are you? I can't use most fabric plasters at all, and the plastic ones are hopeless but I bought a box of Premierpore Island Dressings and they seem fine, nice on a prawn cocktail too.

Very.  I haven't yet found a plaster I can wear without my skin erupting, and I'm 58 now so I've had time to try a lot of options!  Those dressings are new on me though so I might give them a try.

Another parts order for the MGB has gone in again today. Main thing was the alternator, but also put a few other bits and pieces on too like a replacement rubber boot seal. I still managed to get it to 120quid again.

Seriously spent too much on it so far. I haven't even got any welding done yet. :?

I got speaking to a contractor at work and he was chatting about microlighting. A quick Google suggested what I've spent on the MGB so far could have paid enough to get my Microlight flying license.

Maybe I need to reconsider and take up another past-time?

Pretty sure these folks should feel the long arm of the law given they threatened me with violence for being in the same part of London as them. I’m not taking it any further but if you can, please do. Suspect narcotics are involved.

Not sure there is anything anyone else can do in this instance with as few details as that. Report them anonymously through Crimestoppers?

Fuck everything about that. If when the MGB breaks down, its an hour or twos wait for the big yellow lorry. If the microlight breaks down its a 40 second plunge to your death.
