Just asked a breaker's for a price on two seats, a carpet and a front bumper for a 15 year old Suzuki Ignis.

£150.

One hundred and fifty fucking quid.

Did you ask who the fuck else he was going to be able to sell them to?

I think Ignis spares are probably a buyers market.

For the first time this year (the knackered Rover 45 doesn't count as it was in the next town) I'm off on a collection tomorrow.  Quite childishly excited.  It's from a highly prolific shiter of exceedingly good standing so I have reasonable confidence that it will be a good one.

It's going to be the 4th 1.4 K series I've owned and hopefully it will manage to become the first one that actually works properly.

In other positive news, the Hiace's MOT repairs have turned out to be very straightforward - like twosmoke said when he did the clutch, my mechanic (or rather, my mechanic's son who is gradually taking over the business) praised the easy simplicity of the Hiace's nether regions which mean the work it needs is straightforward and quick to do.  It's getting a nice big patch on the inner wing, new brake pipes front and rear and as a bonus, a cleanup and thorough dousing in old engine oil underneath while it's up on the ramp.  I'm intending to replace the broken rear light and mend the knackered towbar wiring this weekend, so hopefully next week a fresh MOT will be mine without too horrifying a bill.

I've only had it three weeks and even I can't believe how fast I've put things right on it.  This little purple car has been an absolute joy to work on.  I'm so glad the Autoshite forces got together to get it into my grubby little mitts, I might be the one doing the welding but it's been a real team effort to get things together so fast.

Hopefully I won't embarrass myself by forgetting anyone, so here goes on the folks that have been involved in rescuing this little trooper with the supply of parts and transport and the car itself:

catsinthewelder, KruJoe, Mike_Knight, dodgytom, Beige 1100, anonymous_user, 320touring, and of course the myriad of comments and words of encouragement from the rest of you.

This is what Autoshite is about.  This is the sort of thing I joined the forum for and this is what's brought me back.

Floors, sills, tyres, battery... essentially.

Polish guy came back from checking his insurance and said £700 cash. Old Man agreed (I think my mum's told him to just take what he can).

Don't think he knows about the noisy clutch release bearing, but eh. Can't expect perfection.

Monday...

if the guy takes it, it'll have sold faster than the 50k Civic I sold a couple of years ago.

Genuinely jealous of this, should have acted quicker. Look forward to collection Fred.

I have been on my holidays, in Devon where it was a bit rubbish to be honest.  But I did spot these in a little motor museum in Moretonhampstead.

Maestro is a 1.3L and for sale at a pretty salty £1000.  It's got none of the usual rot but it's far from tidy.

Italian dodgems at Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre.  I bloody love dodgems!  I'm normally that arse who's driving backwards, but these don't seem to do that.

That's the most expensive part of the Austin project ordered.  2 brand new sill closing panels for £200.  It's a few weeks wait while they're made which should give me time to get everything else finished ahead of them.  Only big expense left now is the tyres, which are a similar budget once you've factored in fitting and balancing and whatnot.  12" part worns are highly unlikely to be available so it's a full set of five new ones required.

Looking at my call history on my phone. Frequently contacted numbers were my best mate ... and the car garage I use.

Just done a buy.

Absolutely everything bloody works. Even the frigging air con!

It's smashing. Gingercators already on order.99310d642c74c8a759a97eda2959c00c.jpg

Well, that was an interesting week. I appear to have put a deposit down on a new car, despite being broke. There are good reasons.

What are you on about? It's obvious that he's bought a Transit pick up and is about to start a sideline business in scrap collecting

Wife said I've been doing that for years.

I said "don't be so hard on yourself".

1-0 me.

I have 2 new cam cover gaskets going on over the weekend and 2 new coil packs (If I can be arsed) which will solve the oil leak and should make it smoother too.

I have just fitted ONE new cam cover gasket and 2 new coil packs, plus cleaned out the "notorious" breather tubes.

The other gasket was not leaking so I figured I'd be better off not touching it.

It started 1st time of asking, but I immediately turned it off, as I am letting the black sealant cure before I take it for a test drive.

Only took about 4.5 hours.

My investment in a new set of tools, especially the torx bits and sockets internal and external, made the job much easier.

Got offered an LS400 in exchange for the A4.

That hurt to decline.

As of next Tuesday I will have two more cars. Six in total. Am not clear how exactly* that happened but hey ho...

The incoming Saab convertible will be Mrs Beards once repaired, a keeper. The Saab 9-5 continues on the daily slog ( 12000 miles done since purchase on here in January) Oldsmobile is work in progress and the Rover 75's are going to be mothballed in dry storage over the winter hoping that these things become more desirable and go up in value a bit fairly soon. Although my money making schemes in the past have always failed miserably.

The MG ZT will be up for sale next year......

Why would you gingercate? I LOVE clear lenses! See Vulg's 1100 for a good demonstration of why. Must get around to fitting clears to my 2CV again...

Anyway, was a small local show today, so we went along with two cars.

The coffee van was awesome! Was a local mobile shop, that had been parked up for many decades. Recently refurbished, and once again being used to sell stuff. Ace.

This Dolomite 1300 was a local car with 30k miles on it and in lovely condition. Friend's 3-Litre next to it.

Standard fare, though a Mexico Brown P6 BS is always a pleasure.

They had 'hook a duck' which was fun.

Sky was moody. Morning beset by torrential downpours with occasional hail.

Then I spotted this in the public car park. Local car, povo spec, big dents. LOVE IT!
