Took the Boxster for mot today. It passed with no advisories but it has been pissing down ever since, at least it doesn't leak

Valve for the Aldi A4 came today. £110 for this lump of metal from eBay, that Audi wanted £330 for...

Came in a generic brown box though, so I hope its genuine. Looks pretty good quality machining and text printing though, so suspect/hope it probably is.

All my spanners were too small to be able to fit it though. Plus its pissing it down outside and water+diesel injection systems don't mix.

So I copped out and chose to book it in next Wednesday at the garage for them to fit. Looks an easy job, but I utterly cba to work on this car. Hopefully this is the last I mention of this car on here, being a modern photocopier salesman VAG wagon.

In other news, I have been continuing to gather MGB paraphernalia despite not owning one, by visiting my local Moss branch to pick up a catalogue. Their Haynes manuals were pretty expensive and a quick google found that Halfords was cheaper than Amazon for them!

Also spotted this sign in there which made me chuckle. For those who don't know about the latest modern diesel, they have an additional filter called an SCR filter. This takes urea (essentially synthesised piss) and squirts it in to remove Diesel emitted nastyies.

Found this in the Moss catalogue too. I did joke to the wife that I wanted it for my birthday next year. In hindsight I hope she didn't take me seriously. :?

So,this happened today

Been on the lookout for something awd in preparation for the next Big freeze, plus having the In laws arrive on Tuesday meant the Vivaro wasn't going to cut it

An import from Austria,it's a 2.0 non turbo but with all the toys

Needs a good service as it's been stood a bit, which hasn't done the brakes any favours but managed to get a full set thrown in

No idea how it got through it's Preleg (mot) with a disconnected handbrake but we knew that would need sorting beforehand

The only real rust on it is the tailgate release mechanism which has pretty much dissolved, and a "stainless" back box which has more holes than a fishing net

The Mrs likes it,and is already mumbling about unequal length headers and stuff..

I had a 2.5 4cam that shape. Lovely car to drive & much fun in the wet.

Shame mine couldn't keep it's water in for more than 12miles due to a cracked head/block.

The ex-explosive cabbage Pug 106 failed the MOT on Wednesday on a number plate bulb...and a shonky rear radius arm (1/4" movement).  Looks like a transplant job...

Drove it through a hedge at speed?

It's the one you snapped a pic if at cannock. As for the off roading adventure, it was a narrow Derbyshire lane with no turning room. Road gradually disappeared until it became muddy and water everywhere. Water up to sills but no leaks. Very dirty emerging through that

My Fusion was built in Cologne on this day 15 years ago. Ugly thing. I've never liked it, but it's stuck to me like a friend you can't get rid of.

aaaaand its failed.

on the hand brake showing little or no effort which frankly i was expecting.

cos the hand brake has been crap for a while.

still, at least the word "corrosion" has not appeared on the fail sheet.

so next week its either the other halfs little gay jeep, or Marvin the Metro for transport too and from work.

Pictures or it never happened!

In my news, I just did a bin.

Clues:

It has an engine configuration I've never had before.

It's a marque I've never owned before.

Pick up next week some time.

If autoshite did hire cars...

It's actually quite nice. Proper auto box, and an actual key you put into the steering column and a proper manual hand brake, none of this electronic bollocks!

I'd have to remove them from the house first -  none in my yard at the moment.

Those trolley jacks are shit - if you're going to use it more than once every few months buy something decent.

SGS Engineering are really good for jacks - their 3T garage jack is hard to beat (but heavy)

Fitted the new brakes to the Legacy this am, whilst it was still fairly cool

Fronts went on easy enough, had a good look around whilst under the front but found no nasties

Moved onto the rear

Found no serious crusty bits, mainly the exhaust but as the rear box is about done it'll all be getting swapped over

Drivers side rear brakes done with just a couple of nearly rounded bolts to contend with

Passengers side gave a few clues as.to the lack of a handbrake

Yep,the cable has been chopped.

But what's this?

All the handbrake mechanism has been stripped out, nothing left...

Time to hit the scrappy and try find a complete hub then......
