I arranged our little car club to have a breakfast meet at a new cafe which recently opened just off the A14 near Woolpit, considering we woke up to a light covering of snow and slush we had a pretty decent turn out.

We conveyed down the cafe from a nearby Asda and i followed this rather tasty Alfa 75 3.0 V6 there.

It's a brave man who takes a Alfa out in this weather, when he left the cafe he had it proper sideway which was quite impressive to watch (if not totally planned). I didn't get many photos as it was colds and damp though.

It was a shame about the weather but once it warms and drys up i think it will be a great venue, the grub was bloody nice too!

Cor! Loving the Sierra.

Not loving the Ghia grille though Egg. Sorry. Povo should be Povo!

Good to see Onslow made it there despite being actually dead, Trig.

I work Sundays for the moment otherwise would have got the bASe out for the lads.

Nice pics.

Povo will shortly be restored. It is always amusing how Ford were the masters of charging extra for a slightly different piece of plastic.

I'm going to see if I can paint it the right colour as an experiment in plastic repainting.

So I'd been planning going to Stuttgart for a long weekend with Supernaut and a few others, Visit Porsche & Mercedes museums as well as experience the history & culture of the city. Oh and the nightlife! Having done it all before when I was 16, it's well worth doing it again.

Anyway talking about it with Supernaut while working on the 316 today gave me another idea...

Take the old girl home to Munich! :D

It's not a crazy idea now, is it?

It won't be cheap! That's not too far from where we're heading this year; flights for four and parking are less than the petrol alone (yes yes, LS400) plus crossing the channel and autoroute tolls..

That said, I'm insanely jealous.  I'd love to drive that.

I'd like to take the Mondeo back to Ghent. I didn't realise until just now the plant closed in 2014.

I went to visit some friends in Huntly yesterday.

On the way there, I saw, going the other way on the Kintore bypass, a completely insane contraption. It seemed to be the front end of a Mk1 Land Rover Discovery, cut off at the B-pillar. The back end consisted of a flat bed with wooden sides, very homemade looking. On top of all this insanity, it was a 6- wheeler and was painted pastel blue with what looked like house paint and a roller. It took a minute for all of that sheer madness to sink in, then I just let out a "what the fuuuu..."

I appear to have agreed to purchase a light commercial vehicle for deliveries of an "express" nature....

You'll be able to fit at least one crate of inlet manifold and head gasket sets in that. DILIGENCE

With you on that one! Hence the L series boat anchor up front, which was my nod to being sensible in this whole sorry episode.

I've been offered this for £200 by a mate. MOT due at the end of the month, but has had roof, rear dampers and four tyres replaced in last 6 months.

It'll want at least the arches replacing, depending how crusty it is it should break for coin.

What Tayne said.

I used to have a mk2 MX-5. I sold it in 2013, and I thought it was a really really tidy example of one.

When I last checked the MOT history, it needed welding for every single MOT since I sold it. Whoops!

I also got this last month, i've no need for it but couldn't see it get weighed for lack of interest (cat D write off because passenger mirror knocked off) Chucked it in for a ticket and it passed with a clean sheet.

Full ford history from new, with 58k, four good avons and only minor crustyness starting on the rear arches.

Now doing momma shite sterling service, purchase, insurance, tax, mot test, and second hand door mirror left change out of £500.

Serious, on paper the cars' worth nowt. Factor in recovery, a weeks like for like hire from enterprise ,cost to replace + paint mirror with genuine ford item. It soon racks up.

I work in a large body shop and it's a familar tale.

Normally stuff like this they'll get cash in lieu, but somewhere down the line someone deemed the car unsafe to drive, whilst t'other side disputed liability all the while it was sat in a yard with a storage bill racking up on a daily basis.

It's shit like this that sends everyones insurance up.

I didn't get it through work, we can't buy cars direct. We have to buy them from the designated salvage firm same as joe public.

TL:DR car insurance is a fucking con.

Makes sense and a good thing. Otherwise (not saying you would but others may) you'd get someone writing off a car that was worth more with hardly any damage and then buying it back really cheap.

Hey, remember my lad wanted to get a Peugeot 306 diesel? Excelesior news, he bought a Corsa instead. #dadoftheyear2k17

Oh, and I sold that Fiesta as well.

No, a 2006 'new shape' one. It's a 1.4 and feels about 117,000 times faster than the 1.2 version.

In other news he borrowed my Zafira to go to Knowsley Safari Park where a monkey removed the side repeater and ate the bulb!

Learnt to drive in one of those with that engine, wasn't bad at all

How is it holding up with 11 years under its belt? They never seemed as well built as older models IMO
