The last one I saw had Nigel havers breaking down in a sprite I think. Anyway, according to mot history, this lagonda has 9,200 miles! Last advisory was ten years ago for an intermittent fog lamp switch.

Spotted a Citroen XM sat in the traffic on High Holborn aorund 2pm today.  These days it's quite rare to see a rubbish/posh older car in Central London.

Oh I saw a metallic blue V8 SD1 in Rotherham today. Nice sheddy looking thing that obviously used a lot.

I'd be tempted to submit a eBay claim that it's not as described, if the picture clearly shows 4. Can always say you bought based on the picture and heading. Normally eBay are pretty good on such things.

But it's my fault for not reading the listing. Plus somewhere some poor bloke will have a hard time because something he listed as one item has had a chrlargeback because an idiot didn't read the listing. Read jakebullets posts for the real world version of that!

But he deliberately misled you by picturing 4 items rather than the one he was selling.

Some people cannot read English very well so rely on the added pictures to help in their decision making.

It keeps happening, I buy a non road worthy vehicle, the V5 arrives some time latter and I file it because it will be some time if ever the vehicle is used on the road.

Next I get a nasty letter from the DVLA saying I have committed the crime of the century and if I do not tax it or sorn the said vehicle I could be fined 1000 or the car towed away!

Yesterday was the Visa GT, when the Rover 75 saloon V5 comes:

I must sorn the Rover

I must sorn the Rover

I must sorn the Rover

I must sorn the Rover

etc

Am currently failing to understand the bus lane rules in Newcastle. A perfectly normal lane suddenly turns into a bus lane with cameras that fine you £60... £30 if you pay up soon. Fuck you Newcastle. Just a set of traps for visitors that don't know the rules. Should be in grumpy thread. Sorry folks.

The Peugeot v6 passed the MoT last week, just 1 advisories on 2 tyres close to the legal limit which I was aware of. Oh happy days !!

Yes, exactly that -

http://autoshite.com/topic/26024-sierramans-dads-mondeo-wheel-bearing-update/?p=1101854

The hub nut is only supposed to be used a limited number of times, but my bearing came with a new one.

Hub is supposed to be torqued to two hundred and something Lb/ft and my torque wrench doesn't go up that far so I did it as high as it would go, then did it some more via breaker bar.  I may die so this is not recommended and have a new torque wrench on my crimbo list.

Note that there are two versions - one with a reluctor ring for ABS, and one without, although as I found, the ABS one will fit a non-abs car.

Also - mine's a hatch, the rear hubs on estates are different.

When I did the rear wheel bearings on my old 306, I'm sure there was a torque figure listed, but i just used a BFO breaker bar with some scaffold pole on the end, and did it up till jumping on the end did nothing. That'll do!

They are new, and also a trap for locals who've always been able to drive that way. There is a bit near central station where there are no signs as you turn in but then you get a choice of bus lane or turn right. To avoid the fine you turn right. Next exit is right turn only. Next one is back where you started but facing the wrong way. The obvious choice here is to say Fuck Newcastle and leave by the nearest bridge. Some sliproads onto bridges are now bus lanes so you can't even escape by trying to escape.

1.9 will be diesel I believe which also there wasn't an auto made. If it's a early shape it possibly will be a 1.7. Definitely worth a look at that price though

Dad egg came round today and sawed off the nut preventing change of the Fusion battery. Now sorted.

If it's 1.9 it'll be diesel, they have their problems but if well looked after they're OK-ish

Dropped the C3 off early for MOT tomorrow morning because it's another work xmas do this afternoon - hopefully I'll wake up to good news!

(Anyone need a modern? 2009 09 Citroen C3 1.4 hdi with 62k miles and FSH - PM me)

I should finally have the Rover back tomorrow.  Mike's been generous enough to do the work on it for me but it's had to fit around EVERYTHING else and there's been a lot of that lately so it's rather dragged on.  Three weeks without it has been three weeks too many, I know that much.

Who needs enemies?

Just seen my mates brothers MOT he had done by his garage work"mates" 49de695de91c98c099c4cfb2fa8f6d8d.png

I should add he is a mechanic there and the tester is his actual friend. Can you imagine trying to sell that on.

If at first you don't succeed, keep fixing it until it's dead.

I know a tester who was diciplined by VOSA for writing abusive advisories. The main problem is because they are going onto a public database that anyone can access swear words are completely forbidden (and vosa don't have enough staff to screen all the entries).

Someone complains about it = your arse on a plate.

I like the christmas CD one though.

There's a Susan Boyle one somewhere. A hooray prize for the first poster as I can't be chuffed to post it.

It's a Renault.

It's a modern Renault.

It's diesel.

It's automatic.

Good luck.

My Civic (2005 1.6 executive with heated leather seats, semi-functional air-con and no aux jack) went to the garage for a service. My courtesy car was a Civic (2009 1.8SE with heated leather seats, semi-functional air-con and no aux jack AND REVERSING SENSORS).

It made my Civic feel very old in comparison and it wore it's miles far better. It's faster than my car, but more economical, and it's less buzzy at speed because it's got a 6-speed gearbox, and the stereo is better, also the PAS ASes considerably better than my car and the pedals lack the somewhat obtrusive weight of the older car's. I also liked the spaceship style interior and while the exterior is a bit love/hate it's doesn't look as old of a design as it actually is.

Anyway, I gave it back along with £410 and walked away with my old Civic which now runs fine. They did nothing that I couldn't have done myself on the cheap but the money had to be spent as I'd never bother and my parents would go mental if they caught me trying to DIY the thing given the state of my other cars. Apparently the rear brake pads are also at the end of their life, I declined their offer to do them for an extra £150 because I enjoy not starving to death at Christmas time. It did get washed though, something I'd not done since August, probably another £100 on the bill...
