Sorry, I forgot all about this.

If you are still interested, take your pic. I have crossed out the only 2 I want to keep, you can have anything else. I dont want any in return, you can have them for postage cost.

Would love these three. Are you sure you don't want three replacements supplied to fill the gap?

I hired a car from Enterprise in Stockport a while back - some great galumphing SUV-thing with a four pot. Black and blob-shaped it was and chosen because it was automatic and I needed a car in Stockport. They were quite good actually - I would use them again.

I fixed* the Rover 45 last night.  The earth cable had snapped last week, and the one I've ordered hasn't turned up yet, but I had about 6' of properly thick old wire that a mate had given me, so I decided to try fitting a length of that to see if it was any good.  It just about got the engine turning over but not enough to start it.  So I fitted another length in parallel, and now it's spinning over faster than it ever has in my ownership.  I think the earth strap must have been on its way out for some time, and was probably the cause of a large chunk of the car's cold-starting issues.

It's a proper bodge job to be honest as I didn't have any ring terminals that were anything like big enough, so I just bared the ends of the lengths of wire, with one pair of ends shoved into the negative battery terminal before I tightened it up, and the other ends wrapped in opposite directions round the bolt in the gearbox housing which the original earth strap had gone to, and clamped in place with the remains of the original terminal.  Everything's secure though, and it works - although I did manage to effectively run it out of diesel, as it was so low that when I drove it up onto the ramps what little was left in the tank sloshed away from the pickup, so I had to back it off the ramps on the starter and crank it for ages to pull fuel through.  It took a bit of cranking to start this morning, but then started up fine after work (having sat for nearly 12 hours and with the temperature not that far above freezing), so I'm considering it officially fixed.

Would you not be better off simply avoiding Manchester?

My neighbours have foolishly let me park a car on their drive, which means I can bring the Bini home this weekend - excitement.  I've owned it a month and still haven't set eyes on it, but I'm reassured by the 7-year unlimited mileage warranty I'm pretty sure JJ0063 said was included.

Sold as scene m8.

I’m looking forward to it being used again! Mrs JJ misses it.

Thought this was interesting:

https://www.petrolprices.com/news/garages-crisis-record-mots/

Not because of the MOT issue raised there but rather the second hand car market. That's an awful lot of 3 year old cars that will soon be on the market. Especially as a lot will be on 3 or 4 year PCP/HL deals. Newish diesels have already taken a slump too - which a lot of those vehicles will be.

Maybe it's going to be a good time to pick up a cheap newish motor in the coming months?

That sounds like a load of horse shit to me. How did the industry cope when it was just the one year changeover in August? Incidentally, that was two decades ago, not "a few years"

Trip to Chernobyl booked.

Ukraine do it if you really want.

I wonder if anyone's thought of running tours to the separatist areas of Eastern Ukraine....?

This is a very sad story and I'm sure those that follow sports news will have heard about it already, but the article today does feature a shot of a rather spectacular Maserati hearse in action - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43331432

Stay tuned for the next 40 years until Panhard65 flies in to drive it overland to Britain, assuming there's no 200% tariff on used foreign vehicles by then.

Took the primera for a mot today. It passed. It had an advisory for a hole in offside rear. I assume this is non dangerous and I can throw some fibreglass filler into said hole. Plus pumped tyres up to correct pressure before and that got rid of slight wheel wobble.Downside is the paint repair I done is still a bit shut even after a t cut and polish. Still looks better than a rusty scab and hole I suppose.

At least the Maserhearse doesn't have any loose hubcaps.

Have just had to complete an online course for work. Equality and Diversity. Was a bit Meh about it TBH but have learned a lot. Especially about stereotyping. Guilty as charged up until now.

I have just fixed something on the Dollop (Big one) while it is still in the garage. Repaired the drivers door panel which had come loose at the bottom right corner, the clips on these things are notorious for not being where you want them to be... ever! But I, in my (near) infinite level of superbity (no such word existed until I just made it up :)    )  and using nothing more than fingers, a well aimed knee cap and the torch in my phone, repaired it... er, superbly :)

Now of course, the question remains as to why the door panel came loose in the first place? My paranoia says it's from when the CIA removed the tracking device thay had previously hidden in the door and not having my (hidden) levels of superbity   they couldn't deal with those pesky clips and pins. More sensible people 'may' suggest it is because I caught it at sometime or just that it's an ancient piece of 'handbuilt' shit and so is obviously falling apart.

I still think it's the CIA.

Sofa/pull out bed is finished.

Need to do some more finishing on the worktop/hob/sink/drainer thing and plumb it all in, panel the rear doors, make a removable table to go in front of the 2 minibus seats and I think I should fit a log burner.

Its not a camper without a stove pipe poking out the top in my opinion.

Few pics.

You can now be a 'mobile specialist' & charge £150 an hour for your superbity.

Mrs Problemhamster's been using my RX8 as a daily for the last four years, ever since Little Miss Problemhamster was born - it is of course one of the most efficient cars for the young family as both the rear doors and rear seats are childsize, thus ensuring the most economical use of space.

The recent symptoms of a ever worsening intermittent loss of power remained resolutely unsolved by my increasingly desperate attempts to find something wrong that didn't involve a compression test, so I found a local rotary specialist with a reassuringly deep pile of broken RX8s surrounding it on all sides.

Unbelievably, my practically new 14 year old Japanese car needed it's engine rebuilt. Angrily binning my mid 2000's copy of the JD Power survey, we considered our options. As she's heavily pregnant once more, and funds are relatively limited - we did the sensible, ecologically sound thing and made do and had mended our old 1.3L four door car.

The only miscalculation I made during this whole affair was to let the girls sort the details, resulting in a still-chuckling wife, a delighted four year old and this:

Over the last few days while fuddkung with the primera. Changing bulbs and what not. The foster child has been sat in it with engine running listening to music while cleaning it.so after it's mot we went for a little spin .then tonight went over to speke in it ,about 4 miles away. Gets to the kids gym and I could hear the radiator bubbling. So no hot air through vents and steam from overflow tank. Let it cool and put 2 ltr of water in it and then played with bleeding screws. Coming home all fine . Hot air and no steam. So need to do radiator I think or get it running and have a look for leaks.

:D :D :D That's excellent & the perfect excuse for an oil leak to hide it all.
