Mo, that's a pass, and apart from the front tyres I'd consider the other bits a to do list that needs to be completed in 12 months.

You now have a legal Rover to waft around in - enjoy.

This.  Great news: Lord Sterling back in a Sterling means the world is turning on its correct axis again!

Looking forward to this leading directly to an improvement in the weather, the Chinese stockmarket and the quality of Saturday night TV.

"Body has slight corrosion" is hardly an advisory is it? Surely they put that on every car they test. I can understand warning you about the sills but the body itself will never be a fail until it's throwing jagged bits of rust at pedestrians.

Just had the chip in the windscreen fixed. Same guy from national windscreens who did the fiat's in June. Some sort of double sided clamp to inject the resin, then a uv lamp to cure it. About 20 mins.

You have fallen into the 'repair quota'%age...

Pressing with heel of hand "See, sir ,could have happened at any moment!!" - face of mock horror - is kept for the other 85% of call outs [luckily I have one in the van]...

Oh yes, EX repairer here.... ;)

Aye.  When the Jenolite/Hammerite dries!  Might do it at Chumbobley on the morrow...  :)

Some of the inner mounting gubbins on our new A4 front bumper is missing, so addition (reinstating? we have a switch) of foglights and headlamp washer delete might have to wait a bit. Argh...

You fool. You took the plastic cladding off! It's only there to hide the rust:-)

£10 xs for the repair this time ( fiats insurance has zero). What's the chance of them having a replacement screen for either a w124 coupe or X1/9?

Today has been a productive day, though, I did nearly get crashed into by a pikey, and when I asked what the fuck he was all about, he said "do you want to buy a tv"....

First I sorted the 18s exhaust after it fell off over a month ago, I've been driving it around like this and it's been horrific, now it's quieter than ever, I also treated it to an oil change.

I then sorted the timing on the Beetle with a strobe, it runs pretty well now, and it's a good thing because there's a guy coming to see it tomorrow who seems really interested in buying it.

Finally, I adjusted the clutch on the Cortina as it's been slipping a bit and drove it around for a couple of hours - I love this car.

I want your green Beetle.  If it were a jellymould SAAB in a similar hue I'd want that too.  Must be something about bright green jellymould cars.  Ooo, imagine if it were a Sierra in that colour!

Hopefully it won't be my Beetle tomorrow, I appreciate the history of them but just can't gel with it.

<OnlyMeVoice> Oh but those old Mercedes are built like tanks, they never rust. not like those new ones. Quality disappeared in the '90s, oh yes. You don't wanna buy a W210 or W202, you want a nice W124 you do.

Today, whilst trying to find somewhere to wash/hoover the McSterling, I received a phone call from a chap whos elderly father had recently passed away. Reason being, a couple of years ago I left a note on the old fellas car which is a 1994 M-reg Rover 820i SE, a rare model in itself. I eventually got to speak to the owner, a 90 year old chap, before I went to France.

Anyhow, I was asked if I'd be interested in the car but unfortunately due to my ever revolving cash-poor situation I couldn't take it on, so I said I'd stick a few ads here and there for him and hopefully get it sold to someone who may cherish it as much as his Dad did.

Staying at my mate's house in Aberdeen, fancy new build thing. Not quite my freezing 150 year old hovel that has no concept of insulation in any way shape or form but they apparently sell for something like £200k+ and my house is more like half that and a fair bit bigger.

Anyways it's all designated parking spaces for residents out there, my car announced it's favourite "guest" spot by dripping oil all over the otherwise pristine paving occupied by three year old Beemers and sporty new Golfs... Fairly sure I had the cheapest car there by about £15k and that's my most expensive motor!

I went to Whittlebury village show today with 60+ classic cars.

The car I most wanted to take home with me was this MKI Granada 3.0 in baby blue. It said XL on the boot but I thought they were GL by P reg?

Injections have done something positive, pain levels greatly reduced. I have a bit of a Fentanyl hangover but that is bearable.

Sunshine is nice, roast rib of beef in the oven and today is a good day so far.

OOh Errr, Missus!

NEVER seen before... car broken down in the Tyne Tunnel (North bore).

Back in the day... when it was contra flow that would have been major... now we have TT-2 (South bore) it just meant a bit of jiggly slottage/winker work & flashing then everyone left the hapless lemming to its fate.

The tunnel HAD... I cannot remember seeing them post refurb... some major HEAVY long prong forklift [like a container handler] to shift FTPs. Nothing I saw going on like that today.

I discovered the reason the p6 is pishing out gearbox oil is the gearbox sump gasket , which should hopefully be a cheap fix.

The speed doesn't work and and I still can't find where it goes into the gearbox . Does this mean I just can't find it or it's not there ?

It's running much better although it idles high then you blip the throttle and it idles lower . Spraying around with carb cleaner isn't pointing to any more vacuum leaks so I dunno. Could one of the needles be sticking ?

I've said this before but I'm having some thoughts about just selling up and getting one good * car. I just don't have time to spend on them just now which is making me feel a but guilty about neglecting them. It won't be soon though as they both need work. I've no idea how the like of wuvvum does it.

I broke down in the Tyne Tunnel once - I was returning from the car auctions on the coast road (Tyne Tees?) with an Audi 80CL and the damn thing ran out of fuel half way in. Within about a minute a man in a landrover with a tow pole rescued me to the south side and told me to put "mechanical failure" on the report form because they didn't charge for that but it was £50 for no fuel breakdowns.

I've got boring daily. I'm more likely to keep the p6 because v8. Cortina has been a constant pain in the arse and it's pretty horrible to drive .
