Old bill had set up shop opposite work today pulling over uninsured drivers.  Within about an hour or so they'd nabbed a barried Mk4 Astra and a barried MG ZR.  Both got the luminous yellow stickers of shame before being carted away by recovery trucks.

Must be getting near the end of the tax year then...

I don't mind the Police doing this, (assuming the comp records are correct).

one of these came in to the business park this morning (we have Virginia water car movers on site now).

Found a photo, but still no idea what it is apart from Mercedes badge.

More on the Bini boot, the liner is now here.

But the handle/button on the bootlid is now broken and the boot only opens with the the keyfob button. Thank fuck for the fob - the lever to fold down the rear seats in in the boot as well, so it's otherwise inaccessible. The mother won't/can't/refuses to admit that it's broken and insists it just 'won't open' - she's already somewhat attached. As part of her denial we had a read through the handbook and looked all through the menu system - couldn't find anything to appease her.

We've had it 5 days and it's already going back to the dealer under warranty, luckily we'll be passing by tomorrow.

SLS Roadster I think, Richard.

It's an SLR McLaren Stirling Moss. I only know this because I saw one in an advert in that glossy porn mag known as Octane. The one advertised is in Japan and a 2009, price is as you'd expect on application .

Caution this dealers site will make you want to buy a Euromillions ticket.

IIRC when I used to use the Merc forum sometimes someone on there had a damaged SLR, it wanted a £20k bonnet, £7k windscreen and a £7k drivers door seal. Cat D SLR anyone?

Buy it, weld the back doors up and it will have a "private" plate

Welcome to the world of Bini, Ghosty.

My sister's last one suffered the same issue - no lighter socket. She manged to kill the USB socket, by plugging four hundred things into it at once, and had to resort to a really long cable threaded through.

Supposedly, the boot socket is for portable tyre inflators and cool boxes and so on.

Took the 106 for MOT todqay, it failed on the front left wheelbearing being rough and headlight aim being out.  It'll be getting sorted this week and re-tested on Sunday.

It was Ford shite day today in south Birmingham. I saw both a Probe and a Scorpio, plus I followed a very low slung fruity sounding early MX5 with a bit more go than standard.

I watched with some biblical awe today as a shitted up matt black capri - absolutely pissed on the candles of an owners Beemer Z4 at the lights - what ever the capri had under the bonnet it sounded like God having a cum moment

I want that capri

Another Autoshiter down! Sounds like Prab had a nasty one in that delicious Renault 9 last night. I'm sure he'll be along with the details when he's good and ready, but I'm very pleased that he apparently walked away. Hope this isn't becoming the year for it.

In rather milder news, I'm not convinced tomorrow's 2CV roadtrip is going to happen. The idea of driving a 2CV 250 miles in one day just isn't appealing at the moment due to horrific weather and illness. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure I'm up to doing it in the XM either at the moment.

Bloody hell, it has been a bad run of late hasn't it? Glad to hear Prab walked away however.

Bloody hell. Not another one? Glad he's walked away from it.

Rule of three means another accident to follow. Everything happens in threes, or so it seems to me. Or is it just to me?

BX in for MoT today. Gulp.

Not another crash, this forum isn't what it used to be, i hope he's not too bad, cars can be replaced but people can't

I'm currently sat on a train on my way to collect another accidental eBay purchase. I'm not doing a collection thread, as it's nothing particularly interesting and I don't have any anthropomorphic citrus fruit with me. It will probably be something of a giveaway if I say that the journey home is likely to be spent driving far too fast and far too close to the car in front, whilst basking in an inflated sense of my own importance.

Oh good. Seeing as I'm about to get road trippin' this weekend. The news of which is that I'm giving strong consideration to wussing out and going in the XM. I'm still recovering from this cold, so the idea of sitting in a screaming, wind-swept twin pot for hours has lost some of its appeal. Boring eh?

Not at all, Boring would be going in a 2 year old Mondeo, If i was you i know what I'd take.

Glad to hear prab came out of it Ok, even if the wee Renner didn't.

yes sense of humour intact lol

sad pics of the poor renner tho

News from the MoT man. Couple of balljoints and a CV boot. RESULT! BX LIVES ANOTHER YEAR!

Must remember to turn the smoke back up on it though, the drive through town this morning was a bit milk floaty.

Sorry to hear about Prab's R9.

If you remember RMLs Volvo, then Dugong's tarmac interface, then this...maybe that's the three. Hope that's all, cos everyone has walked away to some degree so far.

Having just seen the daylight photos of Prabs R9 he's a bloody lucky chap, that's took a hell of an impact.

<Loads up FB, it strangely enough is my top post> Oh, heck, I'd seen that it was bad from the night time photos, but that's quite the wallop.

Naturally, I have therefore been preparing the 2CV. Mrs DW gave me a right tongue lashing. "What's happened to you?" She may have a point.

Started with oil level (low), washer fluid (low), brake fluid (not entirely full but didn't take much) and tyre pressures. Regular 2CV annoyance. Valves that disappear behind the enclosed rear wheels.

That's one of the least-rusty wheels too. I also took the precaution of gaffer taping the offside rear wing to the car down its leading edge. The holes for the screws have opened up so much that it was blowing in the breeze. Even the plastic panels are knackered. I even cleaned up the contacts on the horn, anticipating antics in The South. Instead of 'meh,' it now properly goes 'MEEP.'

Arse. Spent £20 on a new cambelt for the Vauxhall Victor, and my dad informed me that there were two new ones in one of the many boxes of spares that came with it.

On the plus side, he also found a beautiful NOS griffin badge for the rear panel, which I've fitted to replace the scabby original. I cleaned and polished the rear panel while the badge was off, and it's come up really nicely.

The clutch is quite high, but isn't slipping although it sticks at the top of its travel like the Maestro used to. That was cured with a new clutch cable, and lo and behold there's also a new one in the Vauxhall spares, so that's tomorrow's job. Doesn't look too difficult in the Haynes manual. I'm looking forward to driving it again!

I can haz cockmobile.

Have a sort of petrol station shot:

post-190-0-51399800-1424985571_thumb.jpg

There was someone waiting behind me at the pump and then again at the air line so I didn't want to start faffing about with the camera.

Also, the number plates are in the windows as some kids had had them off the car at some point today - the front one the seller found down a drain, the back one had disappeared but fortunately the seller had a spare (MOT fail cos delaminated but will do for now).

It's an A4 2.0 SE, with a 2-litre 20 valve petrol engine.  Don't know what SE means exactly - it has wood trim, climate control and a fancy (but not great sounding tbh) stereo, but keep fit rear windows and no cruise control.  It goes well enough - the gear shift is a bit loose and the engine isn't quite as discreet as I'd expect for a premium* car, but then it's done 200K miles so probably to be expected.  It pulls well enough (although it does need revving) and seems pretty good on fuel so far.  Interior seems reasonably well put together too, with no rattles or squeaks that I noticed, although the glovebox hinges are broken.

Faults are the usual Audi thing of driver's window not working, and a worn offside CV joint which clicks quite badly when accelerating whilst turning right.  There's also a few bulbs and fuses which need replacing.  And the projector type dipped beams are utterly, utterly shit.  Main beams are OK though, although one of them is currently lighting up the trees.

Overall it's not a bad old bus, but I can't see why people go so mental for them.

In other news, it appears I may be heading Lancashirewards with Mondeo and trailer at some point in the near future.
