And as if to prove that point....I've just agreed to buy an elderly Austrian moped on the strength of a couple of shit pictures. WCPGW?

Sent my mum some flowers which were delivered when my dad was washing the x1/9 in the drive. Not only did the delivery driver recognize what it was he said he thought it very smart and in amazing condition (for a 25yr old fiat!).

Found some Synergie wheel trims which I reckon would suit the Xantia.  Trouble is they're in Bradford and the seller won't accept Paypal or post them to me and I'm not willing to travel all the way to Bradford for some second-hand wheel trims.

Shame really.

well all going well on saturday i traveling to wales via m20 m26 m25 m3 m4 to llandrindod wells

After 3 weeks I've got my first serious interest in the Civic, a petrol head from Holland, he collects unusual cars and is very interested, I've just got of the phone to him and he's asking all the right questions and sounds a very nice chap so fingers crossed.

Posted

A shame to see it leave the country, but the classic following in The Netherlands is pretty serious. Good luck!

I had a chap from the Civic club who offered me £2500 a little while back but he wanted to fit an Acclaim engine and remove the vinyl roof, I guess it's better it leaves the country and stays intact than stay over here and lose its originality.

Volvo failed It's MOT on a borked steering rack, ARB bushes, emissions and several other bits. £425 quids worth. Went in and had a look, and it does add up.

Since it's bloody useful and I'm rubbish at bangernomics I've left it with them to sort it and get another year from the big daft thing.

Picked it up yesterday afternoon and it now drives like a new car, so the work done has made a big difference and it's still cheaper than car finance.

Lovely. Looks like its lost its front lower bit that houses the fog lights? Erm dunno what the correct term is, the lower chin that sits below the front bumper..?

Posted

Chin spoiler I guess. One less thing to bash off road. I prefer the non-spoiler look. Looks nice enough. I wonder if I might have liked my Rangie more if it was a V8 auto. Though I still liked it a lot anyway!

Last week the Almera of Doom failed the MOT on a corroded cross member (a weak point on an N16 model). Instead of getting it welded I plumped for a spanking new one for £84. Decided to get the car serviced too (major service).

Despite having posted on here saying I wouldn't get the main stealer to do it...I still took it there. However I have to admit the car feels as tight as a drum now. Very impressed. :)

I press the accelerator and it goes forwards without having to think about it for half a second. A bit dangerous at roundabouts. I put it down to turbo lag. Mind the car still suffers with a whistling turbo, which I believe is worn bearings. Might get that looked at when I next get some time off in September.

Almera now has an MOT certificate until July 22nd 2015 at a well below average 85,625 miles. :)

Re Range Rover spoiler, they were designed to be removed easily for going off road, in fact the hand book recommends it . As does the L322 and even Mrs N's Gaylander 2 handbook recommends removing the fake bash plate/towing eye cover before attempting any Darien Gap exploits.

Just a quickie, I'm away to CamperJam in the T2 to spend a joyous weekend of bohemian, hippy fun with like minded*, although probably far wealthier folk than I.

However, the reason for posting; today, I have owned the 944S for exactly 20 years.

Bought with 50,000 miles it has now covered 265,843.

I suspect that although it's a costly bastard to keep running nicely, it actually owes me nothing.

Did the main dealer fit the cross member? That must be pretty rare for them to have to get the Mig out and start welding up underbody rot. Can I ask how much they charged to do it? Have you had a look to see if they have made a nice job of it?

The shite mower runs beautifully! After years of inaction I stuck some fresh pez in, opened the fuel tank valve and it started on the 3rd or 4th pull. Amazing!

I can't get it to move though, operating the clutch levers results in zero movement from the blades or the roller. Can I take it the clutch is fried? The blades are pretty stiff mind you...

Fitted new front brake discs and pads to The Wentworth this afternoon, as the existing ones were totally shot.

A straightforward job, despite the prevailing hot weather :)

Nothing looks nicer than shiny discs I think!

Heat cycled blue discs, accompanied by the gentle tick of a cooling exhaust.

A job well done.

In other news my e30 decided not to start today. Bro coming over with my tools shortly so I can swear a bit and hit some stuff.

Pity they never stay shiny, though!

Do you want/need repair panels for your Princess that are virtually impossible to find to cure all your common rot problem areas?  Can you travel to Barnoldswick?  Then I have the eBay chap for you.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/phoenix4autos

They have such wonders as door skins, complete rear quarter panel, front wings... all at the usual prices.  I am disappointed I haven't the funds to purchase ANY of them.
