I have finished gathering materials with which to repaint my kitchen.

I've never painted a room before, though I have painted several fences and sheds, how hard can it be?

First coat on this wall done.

I'm going to finish this side today then do the other side tomorrow.

I'm wishing I'd turned the heating down before setting about this, I'm fucking boiling alive!

Well I managed to get a look under the Ampera before the weather turned completely to shit.  The bumper assembly seems to have taken almost all the impact, but it looks like there might be a minor indentation in the back of the boot floor in the centre of the car.  So that's sub optimal.  That's assuming the panel isn't actually meant to be that shape though.  I'll see what the insurance assessor reckons when they show up.

I wasn't able to get the bumper properly clipped back in (at least not without unbolting stuff, and I don't want to start dismantling the car before the insurance has had a look as they might then quibble) but it's still on the car securely enough that it's not going to go anywhere.  It coped with the run back from Kings Lynn last night anyway.

Master cylinder failure on the Land Rover has removed all the paint from the outrigger - now watching paint dry!

IMG_2526.jpegLooks like the steering box has developed a bit of a leak while I wasn’t looking

Berlingo trampervan made very little progress today though i've a good idea of the intended plan. The timber is on the roof rack and i have the piano hinges and mattresses. Starting with less than two hours daylight left plus shite weather and procrastination means i've achieved no more than pulling the seats out and chucking some insulation down.

To be continued.

It definitely looks better in person

Like the colour. Very farrow and ballbag.

Goes with the floor and worktops nice.

B&Q's finest £14 a tin emulsion! I just picked the first one that was vaguely the right colour, couldn't be arsed messing around with testers and stuff!

I got two tins, but it's looking like one will have been enough

Take the unused tin back for a refund?

What we usually do is buy a load of testers then end up buying a completely different colour.

There's a lovely surprise waiting for me behind the wallpaper in my bedroom - all the test patches for colours I was considering before I decided I couldn't be arsed.

Yeah I do so enjoy sanding down random tester squares before covering with different stuff

Just watched the Belarus “elections” on the news.

Couldn’t help thinking the Prez looked like  Hitler might have done , had he got old , grey and fat.

He's totally obsessed with potatoes, aside from being totally obsessed with remaining president.

It's a landy.

If it's not leaking, it's empty 😁

Speaking from experience....

There are worse things to obsess over.

And I love the sound of an MTZ/Belarus tractor.

I'm just waiting for my earbuds to charge then I'm going to set about painting the other side of the kitchen.

I need some advice though.

I'm painting a big rectangle of it in chalkboard paint, so obviously I'll need to use masking tape to mark this out. The question is how long do I need to leave the normal paint to dry before I can mask it off? Is 2 hours long enough the same as doing another coat? Or would I be better leaving it overnight?

overnight better, longer the better ...a seperate chalk board would be even better ...  easier to refresh the paint etc

refresh the paint

I've happily gone 6 years of having 20+ year old magnolia paint, I don't think I'll be refreshing the new paint any time soon!

I'll leave it overnight, it would be a shame to ruin the paint by pulling it off with tape

I have something similar in my kitchen.

It's the end of a cabinet, rather than being on the wall.

Easier to get to in my kitchen

I can recommend it not being directly on the wall.  I have it on my office wall (no pics cause work related) and it's a bitch to erase and needs regularly repainting..

It's going really well*, somehow even though I prepped the wall big chunks of the old paint kept coming off the wall while I was painting. Good work, me.

Second coat done on this side

Left the bit where the blackboard is going with just one coat. Once that's done I can put the kitchen back to normal and have my living room back (everything is stacked in there right now)

This is, usually, when the lady of the house says "Nah, I can't live with that colour" 😀

Looks a decent job to me.

Maybe being terminally single has its upsides!

Dug this out of the garage today and performed the annual waggle of the wires under the seat to make the airbag light go out for a few days.

MOT tomorrow. I know it needs at least one lower arm again but hopefully we shouldn't be too far away from a pass.

Fucking hell I’m getting a pasting in the comments! Why is some arse banging on about Barrichello when I never mention him anywhere at all?! And who is the other arse who twice posts that they wouldn’t buy my books? I couldn’t care less! Aaaah, man. YouTube. 😂
