*picture of blue Princess*

That's the most comprehensively rotten front valance I've ever seen on a Princess.  Do you have any pics showing the reg on that one?  Be useful to add to the archive, even if it's destined to be binned.  I'd expect the poor old thing to be utterly rotten given what's visible in that photo and would expect it to need all the arches doing, the sills, large chunks of the floor, etc.  Suspension might pump back up, or it might have all collapsed, or the pipes might have just rotted out.  Hopefully it at least lives on as a parts donor.

Have a look vulgalour, I know this car, it's been on the driveway for over 20 years at least, it has other old cars for company too but I can't remember what they are, 1950's possibly?

Is it just me or is there a distinct lack of 69 plates about? They've been out nearly three weeks and I've only seen one, a Tesla model 3, which coincidentally is also the first one of those I've seen in the wild.

It used to be that you'd see a new reg within a couple of days of them coming out. Is everyone too embarrassed to have a 69 on their car?

Two mclaren senna 69 regs outside work this month, apart from those I’ve not seen a new reg in the real world. Even in Surrey.

I passed a 69-plate 3 series in a layby on the A17 earlier.  Owner* was stood outside having a fag - obviously didn't want to smoke up the interior of his BMW Finance Ltd's shiny new car.

Destination achieved - nice wee B&B just outside Airdrie.  Edinburgh tomorrow; rest now.  Rover has done great but it's a fucking long way from Norfolk.

Cheers for the invite, but I'll be heading home on Tuesday.

Pity, but hope you enjoy your time up here - where else are you heading up here?

Sunday I'll be driving up to Loch Lomond and then up into the Cairngorms - just driving around aimlessly really to see what I can see.  Monday I'll probably go up the west coast a bit, although the weather is supposed to turn to shite by then so will have to see.

Tis lovely up there. I recommend a drive through Tullough road. Its a pass over to Glenmallen over the hills.

Could we cobble together a wee meet up at Luss or that?

I'd be up for that - be good to finally see the GSA in the metal!

When do you reckon you'll be up that way?

I'll need to run it past the boss:)

Ok I shall make enquiries.

Pm me your number:)

A meet in the Cairngorms, eh? That's doable from here too.

Luss is on the a82 at Loch Lomond..that's where I was thinking,  but as you say, if Wuv is at the Cairngorms, that could work for other folks :)

That's... yeah.  Don't leave your cars under a tarp for 20 years, kids, it doesn't do them any favours.

Apropos of nothing, I still really enjoy hanging out here with you lot, daft as a brush we all are.  My favourite forum of ever.  :-)

I will now re-assume my position of emotional detachment.

Nope, a short break to take my mind off turning 40 on Sunday.

Taken a slight detour in order to enjoy a light luncheon at the legend which is Tebay services.

Rover is averaging 55.5mpg so far, according to the computer.  Lost a mpg coming over t'dales.

I was 40 a year ago and I feel fine.

Get a grip, man :P

Finally it is being sold,  the beauty you see before you has to my recollection been in this driveway for over 20 years! It's up for sale on marketplace,  brave restoration but probably just good for parts, it has sat under a tarpaulin for decades so the parts might be in good order?

@rovamota could have that up and about and ready for an MOT in a week or two. It looks better than the red pre-production Wolseley one - remember that story?

Special Jag related skirmish commencing right now. Weirdly not a collection caper but very much Jag related. Time to stretch the XJR’s legs. Destination: Stilton. Expecting to meet up with a very similar car, except for one crucial difference!

Know the rarity of one of these in this colour but I passed one of these in South London the other day in exactly the same colour and with the same alloys. It was parked down a side street covered in a thick layer of grime and dirt and the brake discs were rusty. Suffice to say it probably hasn't been driven in a while or the owner is away. Would have snapped it however I was driving  by at relative speed so that was ny on impossible....

I put some time aside this morning to investigate why the new NSF front pads on the Mini don't press flush against the new disc.

20190921_085217.thumb.jpg.3d409257a7019fea3397613feeb10f05.jpg

Everything came undone easy enough.

20190921_085607.thumb.jpg.a6d7ac9e8287295b6c2dca1267e1f69f.jpg20190921_085821.thumb.jpg.aefc5b49b176c1064bd1e385cfa27d4d.jpg

Pads aren't sitting flush against the discs.

Piston seals don't look in very good condition but they are still sealing the necessary bits so that can wait.

The new pads have these raised studs to locate the anti rattle plate and they were far too proud.

I carefully filed them down so that they still did their job but let the pad sid flush against the floating caliper and the disc.

Quick test drive on a tip run showed that things now appear to be working as they should.

The car rewarded me by continuing to smoke from the stem seals.

Thanks Mini.
