Had a weekend of Fun.

Then I get home and my wife has gone through some old receipts of mine, and found three trips to Burger King at Knutsford Services between October and December last year. Apparently these coincide with me suggesting I take her out to lunch and me telling her I have not eaten. Later we are watching a DVD of outnumbered, and the father has got very drunk and snogged someone on a works night out. Somehow she makes the connection between me lying about my food intake and the possibility that I've had an affair with my old landlady, in Kegworth.

I sleep in the attic room.

She decides to have a go about my lying constantly.  I am guilty as charged TBH.  I am a greedy bastard and I'll eat all day if I'm bored or sad or it's available. If I open a cupboard and there's a packet of biscuits, I'll sneak a couple.

If my wife seems tired I might put a spin on something.

Then our daughter (aged 21) decides she doesn't want to be in the house whilst my wife is having a row.

She's on her way out and my wife decides to go with her.

Later my wife has another go at me. Apparently I can't apologise because I've said it before and nothing has changed. I sleep in the attic.

Sunday, I take daughter to see dad and take mum out to lunch (she;s been staying in a b&B and spending all day at Dad's bedside and looks wrecked.

Wife can't or won't come because she has chronic fatigue and getting up that early is too early and she can't do a whole day of it. I should have consulted her (I agree - it was very selfish of me to just arrange it without communication)

There is a switch. Suddenly I'm getting the cold shoulder, she goes upstairs and refuses to talk to me. I watch the telly, then she comes down and starts a massive row. I don't actually put up any fight.

It went on a while.

At 6pm she rang my wife to complain about my mother. Who wants to go out tomorrow to do something with the Women's group at her church, and how my dad doesn't want to be left alone. She was on the phone for about 30 mins.

Spoke to my wife later, and I have no idea how to solve the problem we or I have.

a.mediation process

b.maybe shes insecure

c.buy her flowers

d.buy a new project..

Had a weekend of Fun.

First I stopped off at Halfords in Oswestry and was bum raped on a brake light bulb.

Then I stopped off at The Ludlow Ward at the Orthopaedic Hospital, where my dad was recovering from a Hip Operation costing more than a new Car. (Probably more use than a car)  Where the consultant told him that he could forget going home on Saturday and it would be another 2 days.

So then I phoned my sister who was due to come on the train from Bangor and drive them home in his car.  She decides to go and visit on Saturday in her car.

Saturday comes and I get up early and am fitting new plugs to the daughters BINI when my sister rings but refuses to talk to my wife. Because she's FUCKING RUDE.

It's all very stressful having an 81 year old in hospital, but my wife used to be a nurse and you'd be better off talking to her.

This puts my wife is a much worse mood.

My new years resolution is to a) stop lying and B) eat less

Then our daughter (aged 21) decides she doesn't want to be in the house whilst my wife is having a row.

She's on her way out and my wife decides to go with her.

Some 4 hours later they come back with a new rug and other shit we don't need from ikea. I sigh quietly and remove the old rug to the old storage area of the attic (Not easy - it weighs a ton)

Anyway, I take video footage of my day walking.

I think everything is fine and dandy. I make a really nice tea, and daughter goes off to her boyfriend's house.

There is a switch. Suddenly I'm getting the cold shoulder, she goes upstairs and refuses to talk to me. I watch the telly, then she comes down and starts a massive row. I don't actually put up any fight.

It went on a while.

At 5:45am this morning I drove 95 miles to work arriving at 8:15am

Today my sister went on the train to drive Dad and Mum home in their car.

At 6pm she rang my wife to complain about my mother. Who wants to go out tomorrow to do something with the Women's group at her church, and how my dad doesn't want to be left alone. She was on the phone for about 30 mins.

My wife told her, she should tell her boss she's only working mornings this week. Sister did not like this idea.

About the same time I rang my Dad.   He's fine. Happy to be home. He's got a mobile, and a cordless phone, so he can carry them both around in a bum bag, and if he has a problem he can always phone my sister. I suggested that, my Mum could get her phone out of the car and turn it on in 2018. Perhaps check it for missed calls and texts.

Spoke to my wife later, and I have no idea how to solve the problem we or I have.

Later I paid for my AS calendar. This has cheered my up.

Insecurity/Under appreciated - in a nutshell....... you're paying for whatever has her feeling like there's an issue already existing, that begets other issues created to see how you react. It's a downward spiral and not easy to live or deal with. Best of luck fella. A mediator could help if it's 'that' bad or heading that way but if you know your lass, then a day or weekend away from the shit and some proper time for the both of you could do wonders.

You admit you're being dishonest - so she's probably already on the 'where does the lying stop' road and you need to stop that immediately or you're fucked..... to be blunt.

My GF threw one last night as I had to pick up a bloody football ID card for the league as mine was screwed up - new one required...... the arse-ache I got as 'no-one works on a night' was incredible but it's just her insecurity and it needed to be dealt with.

Good luck dude - it can't get any better unless you deal with the issues you know you're creating. Making a step and her seeing that can be bloody miraculous! It's a lot easier and better for her than an apology - as you pointed out yourself - ti's been said xxx times and nothing has actually changed.

I dropped the Escort off at the scrapyard today. Goodnight sweet price, rest wif da angles now etc etc.

I dont like scrapping a runner, but I will be fucked if I was going to even attempt dealing with the kind of folk who might buy a rotten old Escort for not much money.

Rotten sills, rotten rear legs, needed 4 tyres, an exhaust, juddery clutch, needed various balljoints, shocks etc.....yeah, nah, game over pal. Not worth fixing, not worth selling, so an inglorious death awaits, sitting in a field slowly being stripped of the occasional part....and even that wont happen fast - there cant be much demand for parts any more....an Escort is a rare sight on the roads these days.

Obviously by the end of the week I expect some motoring magazine or Quentin Wilson or someone will announce mkVI Escorts as the next big investment thing and prices will go into orbit.

En revanche, as the French say, another Ford lives on as the clutch FINALLY got done on my 15 year old Fusion. Mech thinks it's a bit spongy, but I say seems about right! It owes me now, the git.

Mrs CW's pink Corsa got its ticket for another year. And even last year's advisory for 'slight exhaust leak' has fixed itself. Pleasantly surprised. I've even been finding driving it to be a relaxing experience.

I must be sickening for something...

So, we've reached the due date and MrsH hasn't popped out the sprog.

Now taking an internet cookie sweepstake on the date it finally comes out, and as a bonus, what gender. (We didn't find out)

Talk on five live this morning was using curries and sex to bring things to a conclusion.

Already had the curry tonight, I'll strictly remain "no comment" on the second suggestion

All of our children arrived in a timely fashion - which meant, last time, my wife was in no mood for waiting even a day.  The hippy woman next door suggested shoving coffee up her arse - apparently the caffeine or something or another.

Writing this down now, four years later, I'm starting to think she meant my wife's bottom - and not her own.

Maybe that would have worked? Who knows.  Too late now.

Both of mine were two weeks late. Parkette was asleep during the process so Mrs P couldn't have any pain relief in case it slowed Parkettes breathing down. Ow!

Parky Jr had to be induced, the Nurse refused to believe he was coming until I forced her to double check. By that point Mrs P was too far advanced for pain relief so all she had was gas and air. Which promptly ran out and Jr arrived before the replacement NOx cylinder. So no pain relief for number 2 either!

Tough cookie is Mrs P, I often forget about that.

My missus did hipnobirthing so no pain relief what so ever! It might sound a bit fluffy (I was sceptical at first) but it was immensely effective... until our daughter turned and got distressed, you can’t breathe your way out of that!

I tell ya, emergency cesarian is... interesing. Especially racing to hospital at 1am in a Corsa B.

Posted

I really don't think I could have coped with that!

(The Corsa B that is)

Was out cycling the other day as per, 2 degrees max in early afternoon and a decent frost still around. Spotted a Corsa B parked on a busy roundabout with the hazards on with a guy in his 70's-ish at the wheel reading a bloody map in a live lane! Quietly rolled my eyes and carried on.

30 minutes later I come back and the Corsa is still there, this time a lady of similar age is in the passenger seat. I ride past then think better of it, turn round and come back. Turns out the clutch cable had broken and they were waiting for the RAC. I offered to push them off the roundabout to a quieter place but the guy was worried that the RAC wouldn't find them. I said I'd go home and bring them a flask of tea but they wouldn't hear of it (should have just done it, really). At least they could run the engine to keep warm, and I made sure they had a phone.

Just makes me wonder how many people passed them in the 30 mins I know they were there, probably there much longer. Thousands, I should think. This roundabout is right on the A34. Lady told me I was the first to stop and see if they needed help :-(

I hear you brother.  I will always stop just to see if people need owt - even if it's a run up to the services for a wee - and just ask that people pass it on.  Good on you.

Spent plenty of time at work at the business end (as opposed to the head) during crash c-sections.

Turned me grey, the look in a parents eyes as I perform CPR on their newborn. Resuscitated plenty of bairns and never lost one.

Now utterly terrified of the thought of my future wife/ little one in that position, but will trust to my colleagues and the fact that I've only ever got involved in the worst cases.

I was a wuss and stayed out of the room until my daughter was out.

However, my squeamishness was enhanced when I was 21 and had a hernia op under local anesthetic. The kindly* surgeon sat me up a couple of times during the op to show me what he was doing. Oh lovely!

Posted

Aye, the thought of having any kind of surgery absolutely terrifies me. I broke my toe years back by driving a mini over it and it gives me grief now and again to the point where I can only just walk, but I daren't get it fixed, I'm a right wimp.

Today's entirely irrelevant news, I summoned up the enthusiasm to wash the car .

Two people walked past and said "nice car", I knocked a mug of tea over.

And later I'm going on a beer and curry tasting trip.

Handbrake now maxes out on 3 "clicks" and the car can be held on a mild/moderate slope, it might be good enough to pass. I was correct about the timing, it was steadily retarding itself, this is now sorted to the point where the car runs and drives... Oil light now flickers when it gets warm. Fuck it, it's as good as Its gonna' get...

Just been and started the dollop for the first time in months. Supposed to be used frequently to stop the hydraulics going fubar but I can't be bothered... which is sad. It started first time and after the pump stopped clattering (blowing up the back suspension) sounded lovely and quiet. Was going to bring it home after giving it a run and even got as far as opening the windows for the dogs before I changed my mind, shut everything again and put the cover back on it. I want to get the MX5 out to do some stuff to it but it's behind dollop and I can't be arsed to move it.

I shall see what the weather forecast is for the weekend and maybe try again. The weather, while mild is effing terrible with gale force winds and horizontal rain and I think it's safer locked away.

Then went to the vets to get Phoebes pills and rescued a worm from the floor by the door (a proper worm the kind that lives in the garden and does good stuff for drainage etc, not the kind that drops out of dogs bums, which could be forgiven for thinking as I was in the vets surgery afterall) and everyone now thinks I am even wierder than before. Who rescues worms for Gods sake?

Apart from me obviously :)
