The Volvo had its new Michelin tyres fitted this morning:

post-4796-0-28759700-1499428064_thumb.jpg

They are appreciably quieter than the previous Yokohamas and the car's ride has improved markedly :)

Also, the fitter was very complimentary about the car's condition, so I must be doing something right.

I know I am late to the party but I have finally found out why Picassos are referred to as Ronnie Pickerings - absolute gold! "Do you know who I am"

Welcome to 2016 :)

We went to Telford this morning and came back along the A5. All the way from Weston Park to Gailey a steady stream of VW campers of all flavour were coming the other way, there is a camper do (Camper Jam) on this weekend, but I hadn't realised just how  popualr they were. Lliterally everry other vehicle coming the other way was a camper and lots of them were in groups of five or six. I know the air-cooled ones have a cult following, but they were far outnumbered by the modern versions. Not my cup of tea, but nice to see a lot of individuality and not sheeplike  like some scenes :)

Perhaps more interesting here, I passed a motor caravan emporium with what looked like an F reg Freight Rover conversion up for sale at I think £2750. I was going to fast to see the name of the garage or any details, but it is a couple of miles to the East of Weston Park, just on the Cannock side of the Bradford Arms pub at Ivetsey Bank.

Just over on 'Princes Island' off Turkish coast. No shite to speak of here as technically cars are not allowed unless they are official government/police vehicles. A couple of crappy old council trucks doing the rubbish rounds and a few delivery vehicles including a seriously shonky old Sprinter which works as an ambulance. Not really spotted a lot due to Mrs_Sterling rules but have tried to sneak a shots of shonky Turkish made vehicles and the Turks obsession with every car must be a saloon car I.e. Renault Clio saloon.

I have now got wallpaper. This is how the paint looks. I have tried better quality paint over it but it is still the same. It could be according to google. Old paint or just a reaction to the matt paint frombthe silk paint underneath. The paint is not flaking it just has dried solid like a cracked mudbed. Very wierd.attachicon.gif20170706_143006.jpg

Go to a decent decorator center and ask the guy behind the counter if there is a fix for it, I'm sure they have seen it before.

Plugged the crypton diagnostic centre into the lada to find the volt meter and timing light both work. Still need to source an instruction manual for it. a7d636ad18c20839316a30883950befc.jpg

I've been told that if I want another car, I better get out this morning, clean the cars and get pictures taken...

Not sure which one should be the priority either :(

I'm rather envious of all those on here who have room for many cars.

Posted

Do just that, spend a day washing them, take some pictures and out them here then buy another car...

Don't see anything in the above telling you to sell one

Is on street parking free where you live? If so, then you have the room! I normally have two parked on the road, now three with the Jag.

I personally don't care but Liz, my wife, doesn't like to annoy my neighbour. When I had the Saab, he decided to block the end of the road with his two cars when I kept parking down that end.

Stupid and annoying thing is that he has room on his drive for both of his car. But he's decided that the space in front of his house is his. Also that I shouldn't park in the one next to it.

My solution was to buy many more cars and block all the space. I was vetoed on that...

Being a quiet cul-de-sac, we tend to only have our own cars and visitors cars down here. The Laguna could be parked at a side road but apparently that's anti-social too! :?

In other news I saw a large MPV thing with a Skoda badge the other day, when did they start them? I had no idea they existed.

I have a spare unpainted Mondy grille and a spare badge. Do I paint it Rimini blue as a genuine spare, black to match the top of the bumper for a custom look yo!, or dark grey as an in 'joke' for Sierra base owners that about 20 middle aged folk on this forum would actually get?

Base model should have a grey grille.  Even if Ford weren't doing that by the time the Mondeo came out!

Grey, just because.

Grey! Just leave it in primer so when the joke gets boring you can just buzz the colour over it

Just back from a mammoth day dropping off he ZX and picking the high performance* car here.

Drove back fine. Some slight hot start issues but I think it's got some resistance somewhere.

Hairnet apparently knows this car quite well...?

Just finished giving the Laguna a good clean ready and took a few photos ready for its advert. It still looks pretty modern and sharp, despite its getting on for 12 years old now.

I keep procrastinating about selling it, but needs must. I'm going to be sad when the day comes to get rid of it. :(

Not something you usually hear from a Laguna II owner!

The bloke fixing up my old Dolly 1850 has been informing me of it's alarmingly growing number of holes. The chassis leg is welded up but the remainder is tender, as are the floors down either side, the sills will hole if prodded hard enough, the boot floor under the fuel tank is tin-foil thin and the top of the front bulkhead vanished under prodding and decent metal to weld to was not found for quite some distance. Seems most of the car was held together with paint, underseal and hope.

I'm glad I gave it to somebody who can weld and who's plan is (as mine was) to get it back on the road at minimum cost, I reckon it'd have become a parts donor for a Sprint unless somebody was mental enough to sink thousands into the thing...

Owing to the Saab being out of action awaiting repairs to the ABS ECU (and me needing to go somewhere) the local friendly garage proprietor lent me a 57 reg Mondeo. 150K mile diesel loan car so wasn't exactly expecting a lot. I was pleasantly surprised. It felt very tight with rapid* acceleration, light clutch and gear change. Actually quite took to it which I didn't expect TBH. Not a fan of modern diesels for obvious reasons, but it seemed very capable and handled it's mileage (plus multiple non givvashit previous loan car drivers) very well.

There. I said it. :-)
