Ace read! I'd like to own a mk1 at some point, especially in the 1.8tddi flavour!

Tried a new set of alloys on the Fuckass. 18 inch Y design (not my photo). Love the look, but the ride is awful. Shame.attachicon.gifphoto-39671.jpg

I had the same wheels on my old one, they ruin the ride of the car and i wouldn't give tuppence for them personally, my mums partner had the same car but with standard Ghia alloys and it was like a different car.

Re: Picanto: the new base model ones have the worst seat fabric out of any car I've experienced. It feels like it's made out of reconstituted bin bags.

Whoa! What's happened there? Has the bottom arm failed and allowed the driveshaft to come out? All looks very odd.

Pinch bolt failed, driveshaft out of gearbox. Passing mechanic and a bunch of joiners helped me move it to the least inconvenient place, but it won't roll at all. Just had a bloke call me a wanker for breaking down. It's not even in the way anymore.

Shit dude are you ok?

yep. Happened at very low speed. Right outside work as school was finishing, on the only way out. I'm going to be very popular.

Had this before - came very close to tearing the guy's fucking head from his shoulders

The worst part is, he was along at the harbour watching as 8 of us were trying to move it to the kerb, with minimal success.

Seen a 55 plate vectra elite estate, 122k with lots of history for £1500.

Only issue is it is the V6cdti.

I am interested but I dont want to be breaking it when it shits itself.

Went to get the MX5 out and the battery was flat. Very flat. I worked out that it hasn't been touched for at least a couple of months, just sat there with the alarm on, so battery now here along with charger... confidence remains high... :)

So, I got the BGD out for a play instead (the MX5 isn't flaming taxed either now I think about it!) and actually took it for a decent run, 50 miles or so (which is a LOT for me!) and I am pleased to report that it functioned beautifully! Oil pressure stayed good, temperature remained correct, and, best of all, I have self fixing brakes! The judder above 50 has healed itself. No idea how but I am very glad I didn't spend a fortune on discs or having them skimmed. Could it be the new tyres? I suppose it could be that whatever was on the discs has cleaned up with use, but I am just not used to this thing healing itself without costing me hundreds of pounds... or, thousands more usually!

I got called a 'twat' for not giving way to a woman in a major rush even though she didn't have right of way or anything stupid like that, so I smiled and thanked her which didn't seem to cheer her up any...

Behaved like 'twat' as well though no one called me one (that I could hear anyway :)   )  major wheelspin exiting a junction in a hurry and when I got to a roundabout onto a dual carriageway, the throttle got pressed with a little more 'vigour' than usual  and lots of cars were overtaken... of course, it didn't last long as there was a lovely old couple in the outside lane doing 50 totally oblivious to all around them, but I enjoyed the short blast... the way this thing gathers speed is astonishing: one second, zero, next second (so it seems) 90 and all with no noise or (obvious) gearchanges and a complete lack of drama. It is quite addictive. The way the fuel gauge freaks out when the car is treated like this is most definitely NOT!

Came home, washed the wheels (brake dust is just so 'not on' for a Bentley :)   ) and wiped all the slobber off the sides. It is lovely now, taken a whole year to get here, but worth it... I think?

Note: bought on the 6th of October 2015 so more or less exactly a year.

I'm not the only fan of funky seat covers then!

Half of the pandas I've owned split the boot and dump the oil, usually after a couple of months ownership.

Daft seat covers make the world go round!

On the plus side, the whole thing has reminded me that on the whole most people are actually good. Between the entire joinery company that helped bounce it out of the road, the passing mechanic who provided the services of his trolley jack and the few people who came to offer sympathy and "I had one of those back in the day, great little cars" etc

The Council Estate has stepped up to the plate and is doing a bit on the front line. Clearly displeased, it has started sacrificing wildlife again.dede36a5c313a73e099edeffb847f9e2.jpg

Was just outbid on a cheap Vel Satis on eBay - probably a stroke of luck!

So that's what Junkman has bought for the winter

It's now been recovered home, fingers crossed it'll be ready to ferry about italian toasties by my first shift on wednesday. It may need a little bit of oil in the gearbox before then though.

Going back a couple of years when I had a trip in my friends Citroen sm the fuel gauge visibly dropped as we attacked the m40 - about 12 mpg at 90! As for wheels have you tried pro valet bilberry cleaner? It's effortless really.

+1 for billberry, but get the red stuff, the blue gel is rubbish imo.

But, when did you last ironx them? you have got a bottle of ironx (or other fallout remover) haven't you? and a good wheel brush?

What's the blue gel stuff? Mine's red to use as a spray ( old muc off bottle works well). Don't have iron x either - is that better?
