Normally a man who avoids Rhyl... I accidentally drove down the bypass rather than going into Rhyl...

Doh....

Oof that's nice! Even for a mk1...

Bloody hell it's got the cleanest mot history ever!

Posted

Sounds like it's been looked after - how many owners? Looks clean enough too.

That looks great! The matching hardtops a great bonus too.

how does the 90hp 1.6 compare to the one in your last mx5?

Local car, too.

MX5 spent its life at the seaside?  WCPGW...??! 😁

Apparently the seller had more enquiries on the hard top than the rest of the car!

MoT history was the swinging decision for me... it’s excellent!

Surprisingly little difference is the initial impression. But I’ll find out more as I go along...

Initial impressions time...

As hoped it’sa very honest little car. Not immaculate, but far from ropey. In fact the engines and handling seem better than the old one!

Hard top is a nice bonus... but easy to remove... 5F196F30-6B7C-4F3B-8316-E0EA956EBB53.jpeg

Interior is superb! They’ve had it retrimmed...

It comes with lots of history too... and this is where it gets interesting....

It was supplied new Fromm Mazda dealership in Chester... to a man who loves round the corner from my last house (about 3 1/2 miles from where I live now!) It has spent its entire life owned in North Wales, has had two different personalised plates on it. It’s never had an advisory on an mot, and it feels like it’s been cared for. In short... it’s far too good for me!!

Good little blast today on essential duties to buy Beer for the Wales vs England rugby game...

Well purchased!

It's a good car, that'll be easier to keep good.

Looks like a great buy!

I’m really happy with it. It’s nice without being so nice I’d be afraid to use it... daily duties beckon... (at least for the summer)

I think the players would need more than you could deliver in that! Looks very well bought, hope it wasn't two deer.

Loverly car.  Nice interior.

Pedantic point

The boot rack needs to go the other way round.  The braking forces are much greater than the acceleration forces.

Is it 90 BHP? I thought only the Monza got 90 ? I thought the others were 115 for the 1.6  and 130 for the 1.8

My understanding is that the 1.6 has a lower compression ratio "ready" for forced induction.

Nice! Hire a smoll crane and dunk the whole car in a vat of waxoyl... (then clean the windows...)

Congratulations, great looking purchase. The sun's even come out for you today - enjoy!

That history says it all. You've got a keeper there chief.

I think I have! Easier to keep a nice one nice than polish the turd that was my last one!

Which of course would be excellent but...

The PO advertised the car on Thursday night. At the same time he put it on SORN thinking it may take a few weeks to sell... so when I picked it up I couldn’t tax it online. No bother thinks I there’s a post office in my village *checks google* open til 5... perfect.

Goes to post office about 3 -“oh sorry we don’t do car tax, you need to go into Holywell post office” which closes at... you guessed it... 3pm!

So car isn’t taxed so can’t use it. Brilliant.

Upside... at least I’m not paying tax for one days worth of fun.

Oh yes.... he’s over the moon. He does have some ideas on some modifications he’d like to to do though...

No! Tell him to buy his own unclean one to ruin!

+1 For luggage rack and +1 for the interior.

Looks a gem. No advisories? I don't think I've ever owned a car with that sort of record!

Numberplate is great for dyslexic Madness fans too.
