CAUTION: does contain Sting.

Is there an aversion in the UK to Sting?

I do not really care about his music, but my looks were often compared to his "Englishman in New York" phase by many girls and ladies of romantic disposition. Which led to many interesting encounters.

Think you’ve got it there

Quite a job to keep up with your fleet movements! Where did the 300C go?

Very pleasing to see the Minor on its original 'PV' plate and with evidence of where it was sold new. Not a name I can immediately recall, I think they were long gone when I moved to Ipswich in 1989. They would have been based here: https://goo.gl/maps/T2nmvmXNMrnzZuCZ8

Still motor trade use at the back of the site, with the Wilco and other businesses, but I don't remember any sort of garage building fronting Norwich Road. Google Earth shows nothing there since 2000.

A quick search suggests some sort of remnant of the original business is/was listed on Deben Road just around the corner.

I shall have to have a hunt through my old copies of East Anglian magazine, chances are they would've had ad's in there over the years.

And well done for getting a car out of Jaywick! Been a few years since I last visited but there were always good things to see around the area. We had an AS trip there in 2011.

The interior is nice, headlining mint, the drivers footwell carpet less so. Seems to be the original floorpans, sills, spring hangers and “chassis” legs.

Im wondering if the 37k is the true mileage, no way to be sure as there is little history. There’s hints its stayed close to where it was sold, and had few owners….

Initially it was running a bit rough, and was almost out of fuel. After taking it for a run its now running perfectly with the typical parp from the exhaust when you change gear.

When I were a kid, an Anglia estate seemed huge.

When I was a kid I was tiny - everything looked huge.
(Recently revisited the huge house I grew up in until I was 10 only to discover it is, in fact, tiny)

lovely old thing! do like a Morris minor :) someday id love to have at least a go in one, if not own one! (and im glad to see the head lamp peaks have been fucked off LOL)

as others says its awesome to see its still got its original  registration mark, especially  a short one like that, I noticed its last V5 was issued in 1996, if thats still about/to hand, its worth hanging onto as it should in theory have the Month-year it was computerised on it, something which was dropped on more recent V5's

small nerdy detail mind, but i thought id mention it LOL

The 300c was sold to a guy in south wales. He made an offer on e bay, a bit lowball, i accepted. When he came down to collect he got a microscope out etc and advised me amongst other things the headgasket had gone.

It wasnt overheating, but it was generally slow to warm up (he therorised the thermostat had been removed to mask it) Plus on that cold day there was a lot of white smoke. Plus he kept adding more to the rad and revving it. In the end i felt bad that he had travelled and been disappointed. Im not out to make money or con people, its just a hobby. We agreed an even lower price that he was happy with and he took it away.

Later someone here linked his sale of the car which mentioned a service, cambelt etc but no mention of the head gasket. He was asking a lot more. Was there a headgasket issue when i sold it? i dont know. Put that one down to experience.  C’est la vie.

That drew a line under my most recent japanese phase. Ive since reverted to old british iron that is more my comfort zone.

To be honest, minors, p4s, ado16s; Growing up, they were my dream cars at 17 /1997; pretty much motoring nirvana. I wasnt someone  who dreamt of supercars- I read practical classics and dreamt of those. So basically ive achieved peak fleet with these.

Big poppy must remain. Also needs a “Least we forgot” sticker in the rear screen.

Very nice. Please do advertise this here when the time comes?!

Its an option for our france trip in 2 weeks. A face off- VDP1300-P4-Minor. P4 ahead for wine capacity, the other 2 for being more compact and easier to drive.

My Russian girlfriend thought it would be offensive to drive through northern France with a poppy on the grille; i thought it was more a sign of solidarity with the french?

WOKE alert - IIRC “the french “ is an offensive term I think I read recently?

Well..... They mock us with 'Le Rostbeff', about time we retorted 'LeRubberboat'...

They don't like our import = we don't like theirs....

The youth are fascinated by trafficators, no seatbelts and no infotainment!

The joys of a fully sprung back seat eh?
Only thing that I found off putting in our old moggy was the realisation that with no seat belts and the fact that we were the crumple zone made both of us feel a tad unsafe.
Yours is much sexier and in much better nick
