HMC Posted April 14, 2023 Author Posted April 14, 2023 DOY also has a west london connection…. and OY is a north west london issue. Presumably in 1999 they still issued area specific numbers to imports? @LightBulbFun

Presumably in 1999 they still issued area specific numbers to imports? @LightBulbFun im honestly not sure to be honest! its seems they both do and dont from my findings I almost wonder if it depends who your V55 application lands with, as I have seen some people get location related plates and other people dont and I do wonder if you you could explicitly request one to ensure it "hey I am registering this from London, if possible can I please get a London issue number plate for it as thats where its being registered" I have noticed that it seems like when you rob a car of its number, your more likely to get an location related age related plate, ie if you rob a car in London you get a London mark (this is in reference to post Suffix/Prefix and modern style plates of course) but when registering an import or ex army or what have you, can be more of a crap shoot! obviously things where different when LVRO's still existed! and I have noticed for the older stuff, that the DVLA does seem to have a preferred series, for example I noticed a lot of B suffix imports where given YHH-B Carlisle plates for example you can also just apply a personal plate right from the get go, if you include your application to apply your personal number in with the registration application, this creates the fun rare situation of a private plate on a car, that legitimately has no previous plate history but yeah in 1999, I imagine this would of been a location related age related plate
HMC Posted April 14, 2023 Author Posted April 14, 2023 Fleet news- normally victims are to be found in the boot of a battered w140 Alas this w140 was itself a victim, a scene victim. Check out the tyres! Anyway besides possibly invalidating my insurance as the tyres were “stretched)” the speedo was all to cock. Plus mike tyson in ballet shoes is not a good look. So ive shod DOY with the fat rubber it originally came with. mitsisigma01, Crackers, LightBulbFun and 27 others 30
HMC Posted April 14, 2023 Author Posted April 14, 2023 Also- please keep up at the back- ive sold everything except DOY, above. And something is arriving tonight. Wierdly going from a focus 1.6 to tomights arrival gave me a refund of £1.39. RobT, Tickman, DSdriver and 3 others 6

Schaefft Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 Major improvement indeed, I cannot believe that someone willingly put these tiny tires on it before. Shite Ron 1
loserone Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 So hang on, are you driving the new arrival to France tomorrow?

Well both are new really. France sounds dramatic but its 12 miles to the ferry here and a similar distance in france. Popular Post HMC Posted April 14, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted April 14, 2023 So Muhammad from swansea delivered in more than one sense….. Old Bill Lyons used to rate assessing the lines of a new jag, in black, and so do i. I have always wanted a black jag, and also one of the v8 x308s. Its in black, with ivory leather. Pornographer spec. Its in decent condition and drives well, although a few bushes up front are a little tired as although its slop free, its a bit clunky over pot holes. Generally a nice, slightly sinister looking thing. Its a 3.2 as I didnt particularly fancy taking a chance on a bargain bucket ropey xjr for my money. Schaefft Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 They are coming in hot, an X300/308 XJR is a bucket list car for me. This one looks good at a first glance. Make sure to offer either of these on here before you let them go, just in case... Erebus and hairnet 1 1
grogee Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 Ah yes, the perfect fleet. An S-class for those wafty cruises and an XJV8 for... slightly different wafty cruises. Best of all, west Devon is known* for its billiard-table flat roads, so you should easily get about 10mpg from both. I'm glad the S-class has proper tyres on now, the old ones were making my teeth itch. There is nothing not to like about the Jag. I look forward to buying it, or at least ferrying it up the M5. lesapandre 1

timolloyd Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 I ran one of these in the exact same spec. Probably one of the nicest all-round cars I’ve owned. Does yours have the hidden button for folding mirrors?
wesacosa Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 Very nice. I looked at buying one of the straight six ones with the more square dash years ago as I need an auto as I had broken my shoulder. I didn't go for it in the end , partly because the test drive was a bit awkward as I suffered full on catastrophic structural failure of the main seam of my jeans which split from cock to arse as I entered the vehicle rob88h, CaptainBoom, AnnoyingPentium and 8 others 11

gadgetgricey Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 How are you finding rear seat legroom. Really liked the look of car but ended up with an E38 instead as was to tight in the back. Probably just me having front seat in a weird position.

Its definitely snug in the back, i tend to like to be sat with my legs quite bent so for my height the seat is fairly far forward. even so its not generous back there. Yes i think this was at the very end of production. It “feels” like an old jag, and though the x300 and the xj40 its got a bit of a connection to the old days. Ive got my passenger lined up with snacks, a foot warmer and the motherland’s (and her) favoured tipple. From memory, you can pull this button backwards. If folding mirrors are fitted, then they will close. It’s unmarked on the button, so owners don’t always realise they have them.
