Do mine annually, or for at least 6 months.

2014 Fiat Ducato Motorhome £165 (because it's over 3.5 tonnes so costs less than the previous one that was less than 3.5 tonnes - strange eh?)

2012 Seat Ibiza £30 a year.

2005 C3 £150 (Mrs BMH's pride)

1978 MGB

Pressed the wrong button on this stupid Microshite phone.

Should say MGB £165 for 6 months and I've just SORN the 1991 HiAce which cost the same for 6 months.

I bought an XC90 D5 with the wrong build date 07/early 08, so £500 a year. Built a month later and it'd be down to £265 or whatever

Chap on a land rover page has just taxed his 7seat Disco 4 in Ireland.....

€2350 for 12 months

Wowsers. I don't like taking pleasure in the misfortune of others but in this case I am glad that it could be a lot worse in the UK than it currently is.

A6 and vec cost £305 a year each. Ouch. Both due October.Vec has diagnostic tomrrow - if there its lots wrong its getting moved on quick because I'm not taxing it.

Good lad, and a rare one at that, I see plenty of Discos in vintage disguise.

At least he gets a badge to brag about..

It's down to it being registered as a proper 7 seater from new,and not a dodgy "commercial"

Edit. can't work those dates though....old pic?

Royale and Rover 600 are both £245 (pre 2001 over 1549cc)

Everything else is tax exempt!

I just paid £305* for the Omega and just got the bill for £245* for the MX5 plus there is the BINI at £145* (to be gifted to our daughter) and looks like I'm getting my wife a Vomit Puke erm Juke.  What will that be? about £150 ?

* I think that's right *

So that's erm.......too much about £850 or £16 a week.  or £2.33 a day (One Costa coffee)

What is this monthly direct debit thing ? Does it work out cheaper ?  I pay each in one instalment.

I hadn't seen a real Discovery 4 here at all; they're all 5 seat 'crew cabs' with the €333 tax (for as long as that lasts)

Reckon the one with 2.5k tax would be unsaleable by 5 years old; and would end up getting exported or crew cabbed anyhoo

When I left Portugal in 2009 road tax there was 27 euros a year. Here it was about £200. That hurt. Now £245 ish.

Brazil it doesn't exist, or Mot's.

I've known this for a while, but those in the Republic of Ireland get a right good kicking car tax-wise. What I don't understand is why large engined sheds in the RoI aren't totally worthless. Living in Northern Ireland I've compared prices and there's little difference or they are slightly more expensive. I appreciate the pound has weakened, but still.

Anyway, for the record:

'01 MB CLK 230K Cab - £305;

'82 Land Rover Series 3 - Sorn, but would be £245;

'70 Jag XJ6 - Sorn, but historic so nowt.

My Mum's Merc comes in at £535.

It's just allows you to spread the cost over 12 months rather than paying all in one go. It doesn't work out cheaper but it is only 5% more expensive. So for a whole year it costs an extra £12.25 for a big engine pre 2001 car which I feel is worth it for the convenience factor.

Passat - £230

Terrano - £240 (i think)

ranger - £245

Rancher - £245

R6 - £70-ish

two bx diesels which I think are 230 a year and the van which although its an hdi is classed as a commercial so another 230 a year. £690 a year in tax for vehicles that can only be driven one at a time.

Nail on head. Should be added to fuel duty so its representative of use.

But then theyd make less money......

Yeah, here the plate to register the vehicle is about $15 a year and then they nail about 40% on fuel to pay for the roads.

My 2 Mercs are about 25 per month I think. Had the cls 500 been registered a year or so later it would nearly double the road tax.

My personal best* was near on 90 a month, which admittedly was a bit nuts as I was the only one driving them.

About £199 a year for my Almera 2.2d, paid every 6 months by DeeDee.

Not everyone has the disposable income to pay £200+ at once
