Yup, I remember the Harrier - a neighbour owned one. Some folks saying that it was a Scotland-only special edition, but it was definitely advertised in Northern Ireland too - Jackie Stewart was in the TV ad - and our local dealership, MT Ford in Bangor, NI, had one in the showroom.

"Not unlike the RS 2000", was the recurring phrase in the TV advert for it. Christ that was SHITE!!

80s not 90s, but my first car was identical to this (with more patches covered in Kurust):

White trims, a sunroof AND a radio with the joystick so you could make your Duran Duran come exclusively out of the rear left hand speaker. Luxury.

My dad always wanted a Cortina Crusader which was a run-out model but like most I would imagine, had to make do with a 1.6L.

Passed my driving test in my dad's 1991 Sierra Chasseur estate (same as pictured) - Moondust Silver with a thin coachstripe. Five spoke alloys, roof rails and a tonneau cover seemed to be the only differences I could spot from the Mercury Grey 1987 Sierra GL estate it replaced. Nice car, though - VXI 1727. Ex-Northern Bank company car, it was like new when we got it. Going by the press pic, earlier cars didn't get the alloys.

Bottom pic Brightlingsea, it seems the special editions were pre-treated with salt water on the beach :)

Didn't all manufacturers do this in the 90's? I remember that you had the AX Jazz and Jive which were probably just standard cars with coloured strips down the side, colour coded bumpers and funky seat covers. Vauxhall had their Club cars with the yellow and grey decals and interior and the red cars with the boat decal on the side of which I can't remember the name, Renault had the Rio and Biarritz and there will have been dozens more for each manufacturer.

Slightly different trim levels all seems a bit lazy when compared Mazda who released a new shape 323 every other week though. That's what happens with all the manufacturers now isn't it. Car, MPV, SUV, Coupe and so on.

Not quite 90s, but I liked this one.

Ford did a Fiesta Firefly on the mk6 as well, around 2004, most were badged Finesse though, because thats what it was based on, it literally was a Finesse with alloys and a rear spoiler.

And was the 1.6s a special edition or just part of the range?

Pukka model part of the range just below the XR2i I think.

Im sure these were a Scotland, NI and North of England special, there were a few around here growing up, all from Wylies, never saw them supplied by anyone else.

Was there one called the Fiesta Fresco?

One of the teachers at my primary school had an H plate mk3 Fiesta in doom blue with painted white wheel trims but otherwise base spec, no idea what it was called.

I also remember some sort of Fiesta mk4 for sale in an Arnold Clark dealership locally on a P reg, had no badges on it for the trim, it was black with front fog lights and a textured kinda lavender coloured set of bumpers (faded maybe) and these spiral type wheel trims, sort of like Mondeo GLX/mk3 Fiesta Si wheeltrims, only different.

I think I covered most of the mk6 Escort specials in the mk6 Escort topic but I'll list them again, Osprey, Chicane, Masquerade, Silhouette, Mexico, Flight, Finesse, Cabaret.

Was the Orion Ghia Si a special edition? was unusual to use 2 different trim specs on the same model and also give you the luxury and sporty spec in the one car, wish they still did that now. Only recent example I can think of is the Mondeo mk4 Titanium X Sport, usually the sporty ones had sporty features the luxury one like the Ghia didnt, but lost out on toys.

Mk1 Mondeo Verona?

As for Sierras, what about the Chasseur? and the Azura?

In 1989 there was a Granada 2.0 LS and 2.9 GLS special editions. I've never seen one of either and I can't remember how they differed from a 2.0L or 2.9 GL. I just rember the single page leaflet for each arriving with the Ford Cars brochures one month.

They definitely didn't have alloys or spoilers etc. Maybe a way of making the 2.0efi available more cheaply but I think you could get the 2.9 in a GL anyway..

Yeah, the Sierra 2000E just squeaks in - spotted this one locally the other week. Registered June 1990. See upthread for my Chasseur ramblings!

Escort Java?

Orion and Sierra were part of the range for a short time

Escort Java maybe referring to the colour Java Blue, which was a very limited run

Sierra 2000E was part of the range IIRC. Had lovely grey leather seats, I think they also did them in red as well, the paint that is.

Yeah, my mum won one. It was pretty dire, 1.4 and all the associated floorpan strengthening put paid to any idea of going fast.

First car I ever went in with electric rear windows, but the hood was manual. Hers was blue, there was also a red Escort cab and a Fiesta in just white I think.
