That Maestro is spectacularly poor. the lad has simply downloaded a 'cliche list' of cretinous generic VW mods from 2008 and applied them to his Maestro, taking 20 pictures at every stage then sitting back waiting to get rimmed by his 'old skool' fanbois:

Fucking awesome Jay, only you could get away with that

What a twat

"Combi" tax applies. It's an Estate, not a Wagon, not a Combi.

I thought a 3-door escort estate was a combi, i'm fairly certain the 3-door van thing was sold as a Combi at least.

Ace pic. Jack and George will be along in a minute in the Consul to kick the shit out of the flash villain that owns that who's currently planning a blag under the railway arches :P

OK, so skimming through that forum.... Rich Kid "Jay"'s dad buys £300 Maestro, in pretty good nick, from an owners club. Daddy then gives Jay car, so as far as he's concerned it's free, which means "not worth anything".Jay then sets about proving what a cunt he is with every tired styling trick in the book. He actually seems a pretty good fabricator and knows what he's doing - see the gearlever from welded chain, and knocking up a roofrack from bus seats. Sadly his skills are used for twattishness, not Good.Jay's burning desire is to get a 306 (oh, the life he leads) so cares not that he's ruining a perfectly good car by covering the inside and outside in tat, taking off the good paint, chopping springs and making it as OMG LUK @ MEE as he can. And then wonders why it gets broken into..... but fear not, as soon as he has the 306 he dreams of, he's going to scrap the Maestro. But not before he's had a paddy at anyone on the forum telling him it looks shit.

Don't get all the anger over this. He's young, maybe a bit of an idiot. Lot of us were when we were young. So he's having a bit of fun with an old motor which ain't worth much. Chill out gang.

The main thing I don't understand about people who ratlook cars they don't like - if they drive alright and they've got some test on, why not just sell them and put the money towards something you do like? I just can't begin to understand the logic behind it.For example, I'm not a massive fan of Corsas, but if I ended up with one cheap I'd be valeting it and sticking a price in the window. The only wire brush/rattlecan interface would be me tidying up the steels.Perhaps some people just don't like money.

Zackly. He's fucked about with a Shite Old £300 Maestro. He's not the first, he won't be the last and at least he's done a half decent job of making it look how he wanted it to look. If he hadn't ended up with it it would more likely than not ended up being either sent over the bridge of doom or into Scrappage. It's obviously 'rat-look' and you never know, that might keep it on the road for a few more years than it would have otherwise managed. It might end up in a shed somewhere for 15 years and emerge to a riot of Autoshite love.If I was an 18-20 year old lad and I was given a Maestro, I'd quite probably do something similar to it. Maestros aren't cool - not even the Turbo. The majority of the young folk don't get the whole Maestro vibe (and rightly so, in my humble as I don't either), to them it's a shite old embarrassment that's quite probably older than most of 'em. Put it this way, if I'd have taken that Maestro in p/x before it was ratted and it didn't sell for more than scrap value in a week or so, I'd have sent it over the bridge myself. I'm not the only one.

I don't particularrly care that has modified the Maestro....just the crap attitude to something he was given as a present and the anal praising by his worshipers....do something nice then fineI'm a member of ratlook.co.uk, and while I dont like everything they do. some of the folk put some nice touches into their motors not just rust them outHell, I've modified every motor I've owned bar 2, which both got sold....

you got allsorts but my favorite has to be the metros,a local joiner used to use a metalic gold one as a van and had a ford a series as a shed

Had the car for 23yrs

Reason for sale is due to golf bags and trollies not fitting in boot.

Where has he put them for the last 23 years then??

This has just popped up for sale near me. I suspect the owner may be open to a deal involving a caravan as part payment. The Bedford behind is also up for grabs too.

Why are all those LWB Transit fire vans coming up for sale now? Did we do a deal with the Krauts and swapped all our Green Goddesses with them?

Dont think it has got the correct size of rims fitted - that said all Tagoras were like this and athesetically was probably its biggest failing. This was in part due to the last minute reengineering that peugeot did to the car to rid it of its chrsyler europe based runing gear hence the full rear trailing arm set up from the 504/505 was transpanted lock stock and barrel on to the shell.

How difficult would it be to convert a Tagora to RHD? Do any donor vehicles exist?

Heh, they're cheap as chips in Germany. You can pick up mega low mileage (kilometrage?) ones for €1500 or so. Someone did it a few years ago and sold a really nice one for £7k as a 'perfect race team van' and that was it. They're all flooding over here. I was considering buying one last year to tow the Escort back with.Problem is, most are 1.7 V4s so they get blown up long before leaving Germany, they've got a top speed of about 60 mph and they drink like Olly Read.

The German fire brigade had a volunteer section in every village (a bit like the lifeboat principle) and the transits were kitted out as a mini fire engine, designed to get to a fire and make a start whilst the big pumps were on their way from the nearest town. They gave the vans a shelf life of 30 years, so just about all of them have been released into civvy street now.
