As I will be selling our Honda Accord 2.4 Ivtec tourer soon was just wondering how much should I ask? 115k. Auto with full history. New rear discs and callipers, full leather interior and heated seats etc.. AirCon and everything works. In metallic grey.

No idea.

Whatever someone's willing to pay (or whether or not they're trying to force a trade in on you).

Put the details in we buy any car. That's usually a fair trade in price. Then a few hund red on top for a private sale.

I'll part ex a 'lovely' Kia Magentis (very low mileage, new MOT) and even through in a couple of quid if you deliver/collect :)

Yeah... thought not. :(

The only 'major' problem with Hondas seems to be selling them second hand. Why I don't know, they're usually brilliant cars, just a little dull.

So erm, that was completely unhelpful. Soz.

.... as above. I agree, when I come to 'flip' the ToMM I'm going to have a hell of a *problem..... :-(

* well, the executors of my estate will.... :-P

I had a '04 cdti tourer in nice but not perfect nick. 180k miles had the heated leather and all the toys. When I was looking they were making £800 minimum every time. When I came to sell mine 6 months later 500 quid was all I could get. That was without mentioning the oil leak or the clutch on the way out. They are a lovely car. I bought mine as I wanted a nice car for weekends, then a month later I bought the Porsche and the Honda just didn't get used

Do a search on eBay for completed items, that will get you an idea of what they actually sell for.

I'd bang it up for about £1895-£2195 and look to get about £1650 back for a reasonably quick sale.

Be quiet man that's far too much.

I'd be interested :)

There's one 07 2.4 Auto Tourer on 104k on Auto Trader for £3250. £500 tax is a bit of a killer I imagine.

And if there aren't any completed sold ones that will tell you even more.

I always chuckle when UK posters complain about motor tax; that's running at the guts of €1400 a year here, a 2.2 diesels a grand

€500 a year tax here is a pre 07 less than 1600cc.

Unfortunately not a lot for what they are. It'll be harder to shift as it's not the diesel. Great cars but don't have the German badge. For some reason, people don't seem to mind as much paying higher tax rates on German crap.

Accords were never overly popular in the UK as they had a bit of an image problem. Even after the facelift. This is why there was no direct replacement - the Civic tourer is supposed to be it.

I think the auto is, but the manual 2.4 isn't.

The manual 2.4 is quite an engine.

Friend of mine has an Accord tourer of similar vintage, he got his for a steal, it seems like a bloody well put together car to me, mahoosive load space too.

Round this part of the world (west Cumbria) everyone seems to just get new Bimmers and Aldis on finance, so there's virtually zero interest in normal family cars like your Accord. Anything ten years old of that size with a pez engine and a non-premium badge would struggle to make a grand round here, no matter how tidy or well looked after. Too many people taking home good wages from Sellafield means that people generally only want to pay a grand for a snotter. Round here, a perfectly good car is seen as a snotter, due to age alone, even though to us Shitists it's probably just run-in. A grand seems to be the magic number at which people can justify taking a punt on an "old" car, so that kind of sets the market in the strange micro-economy we have here.

Counter-intuitively, similar aged superminis go for around £1500 or more, because economical/ ideal second car/ low tax/ easy to park. Even though most haven't been particularly well looked after.

I walk past the local bomb site car lot every morning on the way to the office, and this seems to be the price trend around here. A spotless high spec Vectra or Mondeo if about 10 to 12 years old can be £600 cheaper than a povvo spec Corsa or Fiesta of the same age that's covered in scuffs and wearing Poundland's finest wheel trims. Does not compute to me, but it seems to be the way of things around here.

Having spent nearly the last 10 years working around there I'd agree, also it's a very strange place at times and after travelling to view cars and bikes from private sellers in the 1500 quid range I'd never go again, bit like east lancs and Bradford!

Thanks for all the replies/advice. Food for thought, true, the £500 ved is a stinger and will put some, or most prospective buyers off. I would be hoping for around £1700* when it goes up for sale in a few months time whilst it is still worth something, if not a lot!

Being replaced with the Saab from Barry Cade of this parish which I am collecting a week on Saturday!
