It's a five hour crossing - don't wait up. Just hope the car hasn't dissolved by the time we land. Wasn't expecting an open deck...

Etretat has left port according to live tracking...or given its cargo enter-tat?

I can't offer anywhere to kip that isn't Thame, and that's going to involve the M25 which I imagine you want to avoid at all costs...

We've found a place to stay near Winchester. Should just about be there before last orders if anyone's up for a quick meet.

Docking time and the time you leave the port might be a while apart … good luck chaps.

Crikey.  Do they pull a couple of leads* and run it on two?

They actually do / did. Sort of.  It used to be common that on overnight crossings ex Portsmouth that the 'main' engine was shut down and the two outer engines were used for propulsion.

Anyway, been fascinating following this. Am hugely jealous.

I foresee a bulk order for Vactan / FE-123 when you finally get home.

Have you been mobbed by admiring on lookers on the ferry?

So where have you booked? I might know somewhere nearby.

Premier Inn as it has a 24 hour reception (just in case).

So I'm guessing that's the one at Winnal. There's a nice pub at the end of that road. I can give you a lift down in the Favorit if you're too knackered to walk (which you will be). Then we can get two Communist era cars together.

Interestingly* the boat they're on also does the Pompey to Santander route at the weekends (Although that seems to be contradicted by the official website). Only 10 years old, and has also done Marseille-Tunis in her time

Please note some cars may be parked on deck 5 which is an open deck, however, this provides quick and easy access to the passenger lounges.

When I came into Portsmouth the other week it didn't take long to get out of the port and you are straight on the motorway. We got in around 9pm and there wasn't much traffic about so I was home in Wellington before midnight.
