Car take back

The Audi has to go so after pissing around getting nowhere trying to get it started I have thrown it in to ebay as spares or repairs.

I looked on cartakeback.com to ee what it came up with and it said £240.

Is it really as simple as they come and take away whilst giving me some cash?

What's the deal on taking out stereo, taking battery, changing alloys etc?

Or is it like webuyanycar where they start with the price and knock you down for each scratch/ding/mark?

if nothing else it gives an idea of what I can get instead of the ebay retards offering£50+ a Playstation!!

I have found them very good and nobody's ever moaned when I 'forgot' to put the battery back on. They shouldn't be too arsed about the alloys either, as long as it has wheels on it and stereo isn't gojng to be missed.

Used them in the past and no issues despite the car losing its alloys, leather interior, stereo, colour coded mirrors etc before it went on the truck. (It did have wheels, seats etc, just old basic ones.

I was slightly amazed at the offer.

At least I can judge an offer from ebay on something.

Had an offer of £150 from ebay.

I think it depends on the car and area. I suspect that certain models are flagged in demand. I get a couple hundred quid if I put the Civic details in.

I've used them once, a local yard turned up and paid cash no quibble, I hadn't robbed much out of the car though, just the stereo, mats and the contents of the fuel tank.

I used Cartakeback for my old Vectra. It had no battery or exhaust, was completely devoid of any interior, brakes were seized on and all you could see was the top of the guy's head as he steered it into the recovery truck whilst it was winched on. Nothing was said at all and the full funds were transferred.

Sounds ideal for that bloke on the ebay thread who's selling a field full of snotters for 4 grand.  You could probably buy the lot, strip all the bits out and give them to Car Take Back and it would only need 3 months of your life for £18 profit.

I found when I phoned local scrapers they wanted the car absolutely complete. I don't know if they thought they were buying a resto project or something but they were really arsey about it. I'd have used car take back if I'd known.

I think you'll find in the car take back terms and conditions it'll say the car needs to be complete - it will depend on your local scrapper what they will consider complete (CTB doesn't buy cars, it's an aggregator for local scrap firms)

Just be careful. They were mega efficient but I didn't mention the crack in my screen and when they came to pick my car up the guy had to ring head office and they knocked £20 off what they had offered. They were mega efficient mind and the money was in the bank within 2 hours.

Would recommend them, when I drowned my 206. Upullit offered £80, cartakeback offered £150 if I took it to...upullit.

I limped it there and was paid £150 in the office after handing over the keys and the V5, they didn't even check the car.

Just whacked my daily's details in (03 Seat Leon Cupra) and they only offer me £55?!

Like I said above - Car Takeback isn't a company that buys scrap, it's an aggregator for local scrap companies - your local scrap man offered £55

Only fifty dead for the Scirocco but a hundred & fifty five for the Jaguar!

Neither are going, I was just curious.

Everything's there sir. I definitely haven't chucked a handful of grit in the oil filler before you load it on th trailer.

Just put in the details of a 53 plate Jag S Type that will be getting attended to.  (Though after two and a half years blocking my drive, maybe not.)  A whopping £60 if I take it to them or a miserly £60 if they collect.

I just stuck the diahatshmoo through and it came up as £175 collected or £50 if I drop it off, that's a strange one

What engine is in the jag and where is it I'm after a 3.0 and could beat £60

Couldn't you EBay it on the hope someone's pissed enough over the weekend to pay more than scrap value for it.

I put in the details of a dead car I know in Scotland and they "offered" minus 20 pounds if they collected it - ie I would have to pay them, or 40 if I delivered it.
