Top tip: never volunteer to organise anything.  It's a thankless task and people only notice when you're doing it wrong*.

 

Sorry, but i have to strongly disagree. I run several forums and organize a number of events. Yes, the odd idiot appears on a forum every now and then, i am quick to give a warning and block an account and then peace is back.

 

Where would we be without the car brand or model specific forums? Technical advise, trade parts, organise a day out or a meeting, where would you get all this from?

 

I never had any problems with people when organizing events. It's generally a great opportunity to meet others that share your interests and to make new friends.

I appreciate the work that the mods do here. Basically it is a somewhat thankless task, since it is almost always unseen. I hope I speak for the vast majority of shiters when I say a big thank you to them all, particularly Dave, without whom the site would probably not exist.

Autoshite is a great place. Having been on many many forums (before Facebook ruined everything) for many many years, I have to say that AS has the greatest community spirit of any I've had the privilege to use. Yes there are the ones who think they're smart and witty..... and by and large they are. I think that maybe the odd individual may take things too seriously. I've posted images in the past that have maybe gone against the grain on here (modified 504 springs to mind)!! My car or bike collection may not be to everyone's taste, but I don't give a monkeys. I'll spend my money as I please! If someone doesn't like my choices then tuff titty! When someone comes on line and engages with folk on a public forum, they invoke or invite replies.... thats how a forum works. We all have freedom of expression.. meaning they can't dictate how others react or respond to conversations (bar breaking forum rules). Come on people.... if someone offends you, just ignore them... simples. If a keyboard warrior or troll caused issue on here the mods would sort it. Personal fall outs or personal dislikes have nothing to do with mods or the forum. If you've had your fill then bow out. Public displays and hissy fits (e.g. please delete) doesn't resolve anything and is a little immature in my opinion.
