martc Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 Belgium. I wouldn't have thought that a rear mounted air-cooled engine would have been ideal in an ice cream van (assuming they use the engine to drive the compressor, like most ice cream vans). MiniMinorMk3 and Datsuncog 2

calebaaront Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 About 15 years ago my Dad had this in our driveway, we kept it there for a friend of his, we had a outside plug put in for the fridge on the condition we’d get free ice creams and cans of coke. The photo of it at the festival is a recent one and it still has the same hubcaps my Dad put on there as a joke all them years ago Dan302, Captain Mainwaring, Weird Car and 2 others 5

quicksilver Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 One from a steam rally this summer. It was actually on display as a preserved vehicle rather than vending, although it is apparently in working order. calebaaront, Snipes, Dan302 and 3 others 6
Captain Mainwaring Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 I would echo what @trigger said on this thread 8 years ago, there are STILL quite a few old shitter ICVs doing the rounds, around here at least. A local highlight is a D-registered petrol Transit which is not driven very sympathetically. Driver looks like he cleans TV with his cat.

mat777 Posted July 4 Posted July 4 I'm on a roll whip here! This turned up today for a special event at the industrial estate.... A "posh" van that also served a smorgasbord of topped waffles, but still based on an ancient old Transit! I also suspect the Merit may be self-awarded..... MiniMinorMk3 and adw1977 2

Except this time, on the end of an ambitiously short tow rope attached to a Ford Kuga, having broken down on the way. Unable therefore to run the engine to power anything, the chap was reduced to serving ambient temperature items only. E- for reliability but A+ for effort. I'm guessing major spares for an early MK2 Transit are not exactly forthcoming these days, either.....
