Mystery future blind sort of purchase,

On the spirited drive home I noticed it is not without fault.

The wipers would do better if I removed them altogether,

the brakes sound a bit metal to metal ish,

And it sounds like a wheel bearing is on its way to heaven,

I'm still chuffed to bits with it though at least untill daylight that is.

if power steering is good as well as transmission, all is good, I'd still be feeling let down if Karen is not involved though

If Carlsberg did mates....

It is a black Cooper S Clubman?

Got to be one of the better spec Binis to sell on Shirley.

Oh, what does Vince70 win for his correct prediction?

All gears are present and correct and I'm hoping the wirrey noise is the front wheel bearing, no dash lights on and steering feels great.

According to v5 it's a one.

Karren was not Involved other than serving

Its an amazing buy at the price. And you got fed and had a catch uo with an old mate. Pretty good night's work.

I've bought loads blind even while lying on the beach on holiday but so far this seems to be the best deal yet,

It has been laid up since June, she decided against trading it as got a better deal, it was going to be scrapped even with December mot as she couldn't shift it.

I used to drive a lot of these when they were new, and I thought the wheel bearings sounded terrible with only a few hundred miles on them.

I drove on of these for the first time the other week.

OK. Save for the midland box which was beginning to sound like a circular saw in a wood shop.

I didn't really think I would get the right answer..

But that's still got to be worth a few quid even if it has a few issues as I've never yet seen one under a grand unless it's written off or doesn't work.

The good thing about it being a one is at least the the Midlands gearbox hasn't been put under as much strain but if it's a keeper I would change the gearbox oil.

And if the power steering starts playing up it's not the end of the world as a decent rebuilt pump can be had for under £180

Its definitely a result for you but the fact that it wasn't a Shitroen Picasso with a snapped cambelt is a severe dissapointment to everyone else.

I've been close to buying a cooper-s a few times. They make a great noise. They've got a pretty high bork factor but that's inconsiquential when it only cost you an onion tower.

Same engine as the Cooper but restricted. This can be negated quite easily and will give Cooper performance.

A great buy for a tower of onions.

There is a distinct S badge in the side on shot.

May be a red herring though.

Any clue yet as to why so cheap?

Was it simply that the owner couldn't be arsed with it anymore?

I get up this morning after the strangest dream of ever and while waiting for the kettle to boil this is my view.

Oh it wasn't a dream after all.

Karen was a ten footer,

They must be fake s badges as v5 definitely says one,

It wore full leather but it has been swapped for half leather, I didn't think anyone bothered with that faf anymore.

It was up at £500 for quick sale and couldn't be shifted.

Nope I'm pretty certain it's original apart from the wheels seats badges tune box and God knows what else that is.

How are these struggling at £500?!

Theyre brand new highly desirable handbag cars.

I quite want one now.

I would recommend one. I had one as a courtesy car once. It was just the One model, but it was still an absolute riot on the twisties.

The bloody thing was on 17s though, so the ride was very harsh. I'd personally go with 15s.

If its not a clubman then what the hell was that first photo you posted?

It was this car with interior lights on.

I dare say if I used a camera instead of the phone it might be better.

Blimey! Didn't realise these had dropped in value so much!

What's the plan? Keeper or seller?

If it's a late one You might be lucky and it could have a getrag box as the Midland box was done away with sometime in 2004 but a friend of mine still had the dreaded Midland box on her cooper but hers had a build date of Dec/Jan 2004 and it was on a 53

But saying that the gearbox on that one is fine but then it's only done 40 something thousand and has had the gearbox oil refresh and when the oil came out the magnetic plug looked like a hedgehog with the amount of iron fillings on it.

If it was an S you get the decent gearbox as standard but the downside with the S is it's bloody juicy as another mate of mine had one and could rarely achieve 30mpg in that one but then he never was light on the throttle.

I think the Bini is a brilliant little motor as long as the run flats are ditched and I've never seen one with any rot.

I think tt's and minis are fair game for shitters now they can be had for around a grand

She was tall, was that the reason for sale?

These are mega cheap now, yet to my eyes still look brand spanking.
