Would we like a separate cars for sale section?

Separate cars for sale section

  1. 1. Do you think there should be a separate cars for sale section

There is usually a fair selection of chod for sale on here, sometimes half the posts on the front page are for that; although if enough things are going on they can fall off that pretty quick and be lost a few pages down. I know that they can be searched with tags, but feel a separate section might help. What does anyone else think, or should I just shut up and mind my own business

Fair point, I don't understand why the For Sale section when all the cars are still on the main board.

We already have sort off,

If you click where it says For Sale in navbar then all the for sale posts will be listed.

The interesting stuff stays near the top for tyre-kickers, REAL BUYERS with CASH WAITING can find the lot using the tags. Win win isn't it?

There already is one??... check the top of the page between 'Autoshite' and 'Open Forums'

Sorted.

Well you could say that, but when I'm not looking for the temptation of another car I don't really want to see them, so wouldn't always look at that section. At the moment probably 20% of the threads on the first few pages will be either cars for sale, or ones that have sold, or sold but not been updated. Don't get me wrong I like the fact that the feature exists and have bought off here. Ok I haven't sold on here because I don't have the sort of cars that anyone wants/needs.

It does appear that I'm in the minority, so perhaps if instead of looking at the thread and not responding to the poll could I ask people to vote for option four

Ok then can I have a button that shows me everything other than the cars for sale?

You already have 2,Autoshite & Open forum...........

The 'for sale' tag is there for a reason, as is 'event' etc. A dedicated section isn't necessary IMO.

If there was a separate for sale section then I certainly would not have a Triumph Toledo.

That would be a bad thing!

Me neither. Buying a quality used vehicle has now never been easier.

It is spot on at the moment.  A few of the one make forums I've used have more sections than active members and it makes them slow and dry.  The only downside here is that quality content like spotting threads often drop down the page too quickly.  I wonder if a feature could be enabled that makes a leaderboard of liked posts in a week?

No.

Half the fun is suddenly spotting something for sale amongst the 'normal' posts and getting all excited

The only thing I'd like from the for sale adverts is a requirement to state the location. Post code of nearest station, would be good. And a picture of the engine bay. These 2 things should be mandatory.

To help you, this is what an engine looks like in a standard Mx5.

and this is one from a none standard one

I like the simplicity of the two existing forums, no need to change I reckon.

I agree entirely with Cav, I go through the standard AutoShite reactions whenever I spot the green "FOR SALE" tag:

1. *scrolling* Ooh, car for sale!

2. Oh wow, that's nice, haven't seen one in ages! *continues scrolling*

3. *gets to price* Fuck me, that's cheap!

4. Wow, it even comes with spares/a lift from the station/a free pie/handjob, this is the perfect deal!

5. *checks bank balance* (If sufficient funds, see point 5a, otherwise go to point 6)

5a. Bollocks, can't afford it, better post how much I like it and add GLWS at the bottom (YOUR JOURNEY ENDS HERE)

6. Time to ask domestic management! (Don't fucking kid yourself, you know the answer, there's no multiple choice)

7. *start browsing divorce lawyers, balk at price of their services* Guess I don't really need it after all....

Wash, rinse, repeat.

No. On one hand it seems good, but then you realise the For Sale is not a new post - it's part of the car's history, so you don't just get an advert, you get a whole rambling backstory and know ALLL about the car, bad or good. And then the new owner can keep rambling on the same thread, and then the next owner, and so forth, if they want to.

I like it as it is. I also like that no-one has clicked the rude answer. Yet...

I did not know about clicking on tag thingy !! Every day is a skoool day!

I think the tags are brilliant, if perhaps we could add a few discreet ones for the age range of cars, perhaps people would find it easier to read content that appeals to them most, that way the issue of things dropping of the front page is negated by the tag.

Perhaps

"Premier League Shite" (Ranchos, Caros)

"Autoshite" (->80s)

"Nu-Shite" (late 90s/2000s)

"BillyShite" (found in a canal and cleaned with a stiff brush)
